I don't know why people are acting like Weezer sucks. The Blue Album is one of the greatest rock albums of all time. Green Day and Weezer are equally as good.
thank you1 i saw this originally in 1990........-------- well.....wherever year it was..........as a kid jumpin in front of my father as i celebrated like brasil had just won he fkn world cup.............i liked te so much and still do! green hair ftw! such a nice song! ty green day and poster for seeing this again! cheers! saluud!°
@@emfraridades7261 I use to have the entire show on tape and still have fond memories from watching it so many times.. Ben Stiller was the host, Madonna sang "Ray of Light" with Lenny Kravitz on guitar, Puff Daddy/Diddy winning "Viewers Choice" award which included "Celebrity Deathmatch" segments encouraging votes, Aerosmith was huge at the time so "I don't want to miss a thing" definitely got an award, Beastie Boys performing and getting an award, Marylin Manson sang at the end wearing an outfit people would call "cringy"
Because videos of the VMAs get copyright strikes on UA-cam all the time -- even though MTV themselves do nothing with all the iconic VMA footage they have (they don't air it on MTV Classic or stream it on Paramount+ or anything of the sort).
@@andresgc770 It is definitely funny sometimes - MTV has a HUGE archive of stuff, and they _do_ pull stuff from it, but only in tiny little bits of pieces. For example, there's this video called "MTV My First Time: One Direction" (yeah I know but y'know) where they actually talk about Green Day and lo and behold, they show a very brief, *never* *before* *released* clip of Green Day doing Basket Case at the 1994 VMAs _soundcheck_ like... Wow-
8 nominations that year and somehow they won nothing. The following year, they had 1 for "Special" (one of my favorite songs by them) and won it. Go figure lol
Green Day have some of the best music videos ever, Redundant's video is a masterpiece and a fave of mine.
I remember Green Day losing with Weezer for best rock in 1994 and then this in 1998 was great
Green Day lost every single category in 1995 only to win them all in 2005
Redemption Arc
how did they lose to weezer 💀
Ain't no way they lost to Weezer 💀💀
@@hollowsid9623 there was at 94 haha

Everything seems so chill back then, now as all formal and shit
Not really shit but, hella toned down coz unlike back then parents didn't like it that way.

Thank You!! This is very rare!!
And they went on to win several VMAs for Boulevard Of Broken Dreams including Video of the Year 7 years later

Jakob was about to be born.
As much as I would love if they would still behave like that, I know how akward it would be at their age now ;)
First time seeing bald Mike
In 2020 os fantastic.
Lol it's not that rare... "Time of your life" was one of the big songs in 1998. Weddings, school graduations.. all used the song
The vídeo is rare dude...
@@emfraridades7261 lol its only rare for those who never seen it.

@@FiveNumberJonny It's rare on UA-cam. That's what I meant. It used to be a lot of 90s Vma vídeos here but most got deleted.
@@emfraridades7261 I'm bummed I can't find the whole 98 show :(
They look like some random kids down the street.
was that ”flogrown” back patch on BJ’s jacket?
i’m not sure but I’m really hoping it wasn’t a confederate flag
why is this rare?? what did I miss. still cool to see though. I have this on VHS.

GI Jane there.
Lol yeah
Green day won with good riddance(time of your life)of all songs lol
Tre got no manners…. Left Maxwell hanging
'Good riddance' is/was a great great song, but the video.. c'mon! Garbage's 'Push it' was robbed that night
