I remember being 15 staying up till like 2am to record this on MTV VMAs. Green Day was like the meaning of life back then. Those first 4 albums still mean a lot to me. Awesome band.
Im so happy that you got to live it. I wasn't even born there. I bet if i was a teenager in those times I would've definitely have a kick ass time there🤘🤘🤘🤘
Im revisiting the 90s of my youth and wondering why I wasnt more into Green Day at that time. We had so many rock bands to choose from, the quality back then was so rich! I loved Brain stew/Jaded but completely passed on that album. At the time listening to radio and MTV all the time gave me the healthy daily dose of rock I needed.
Alright, Green Day for performing that song to the audiences in Stockholm, Sweden, and broadcasting during the VMA's in 1995. In 2005, they received many awards at the VMAs, hosted by P. Diddy. : )
I turn 36 next month and remember purchasing "1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours", an album I didn't know what to do with. Some songs were catchy and some cringy, lol. Don't think Trey was on that album. Completely missed "Kerplunk" and found "Dookie"...rest is history. "1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours" was purchased in London.
Mike is just such a fantastic, melodic-based bassist that’s it’s kinda funny how he winded up in a band like this. I’m not bashing Billie Joe or the rejuvenation of punk music in the 90s, I’m just saying Mike Dirnt brings a lot to the table in terms of his bass playing. I’m a guitarist, so when I listen to music I don’t really concentrate on aspects other than guitar, but with Green Day I am just instantly drawn in to listening to mikes base parts.
I saw them live in 96 and a swarm of people fell over in the mosh pit without the opening 30 seconds of the show, me included and my knee was dislocated instantly. My sister dragged me out and I spent the rest of the concert laying in the hallway of the arena crying that I was missing it.

1995 saw it on TV, beeing on vacation with my school friends ( school excursion from Moscow to St Petersbutg ) - we were a little drunk and watching mtv in hotel - I steel remember the emotions I ve got of this apperiance of GD. (PS: that moment i didn't know about insomniac - NO INTERNET))))))

I agree, they've also aged pretty well compared to other stuff from those years, and they have each one a pretty different style/tone.
