  • Arcteryx Beta AR Review - New Gore-Tex Pro Shell Most Rugged
    The new Arcteryx Beta AR with NEW Gore-Tex Pro Shell Most Rugged WPB membrane. The Beta AR gets an update with the most recent version of Gore-Tex Pro Shell. We worked with Gore-Tex last season to test out the new Pro Shell technology and we were impressed.
    The "Most Rugged" version of the Pro Shell is even more durable than previous versions. The Beta AR has 40D and 80D materials in its construction.
    Coming in at 17.8 ounces for the XL. This is one heck of a hard shell. AR stands for "all-around". It is a hefty investment, but Dead Bird gear is legit. Hope this overview of fit, function, and style help!

      @@HeyHowsMyDriving For me yes. But the Betas don't have the same fit. The LT is more fitted and sits tighter to the body while the AR has a regular fit and a bit more space. I guess it depends on your personal build and how many layers you gonna wear underneath.

    Hey mate, I know you have been answering this question already.
    Have you also had the chance of testing the beta lt? Honestly, I do not that mega hiking stuff, but might be into them sometimes. Also I do rarely ski/snowboarding.
    I actually want to buy a good daily rain jacket, my only jacket to backpack and travel with when visiting different countries. Next year I’ll be in Australia during the winter season. Also exploring new zeleand.
    Would you prefer the Lt or ar? Honestly?

  • @devinegamingtv3427

    I am going to buy an Arcteryx a little closer to christmas, but I am worried about how it fits. There are no stores in my area that hads them, so I have to buy online. I just tried a very cheap raincoat today in L and XL that cost 45$, and it fit like shit. Large fit so snug I could barly have my fleece underneath, and XL fit so big it looked offsetting.
    I want to use the Arcteryx Beta AR for hiking and long walks with my GSD in the woods and plan to layer up. I need it to fit a merino wool base layer and a fleece mid layer, maybe a thinner down-jacker during the winter. Would you recomend the L or XL? I'm usually L in everything.

  • @CoachKlipp
    @CoachKlipp Рік тому +3

    I loved my Beata AR jacket, but I'd call it the absolute worst jacket for backpackers. Here's why. I bought mine just before the pandemic (who knew?). As a result, it got very light use for two years. I only wore it in the city to go shopping and for a few day hikes in a nearby forest. Suddenly, the main zipper stopped working. The jacket still looked like new, but it wouldn't zip. That would be tragic if I were backpacking in the snow. To make matters worse, I sent it abroad at my own expense to be repaired, and not only would Arcteryx not repair it, but they also refused to honor the warranty. I have a Jack Wolfskin jacket that's nearly fifteen years old that still has perfectly working zippers and cost a fraction of the price.
    I've heard from people who had a good experience getting repairs and replacements, but it's not a guarantee. Their customer service is random, and at this price point, it's not worth the risk.

    • @vladislavihl
      @vladislavihl 9 місяців тому

      This is the third claim about the zip in this jacket I encountered searching for the Customers’ feedback. However, other people reported about the troubles with the zip after 4.5 & 5 years in use…. I’ll probably reconsider my decision to buy this jacket and remain loyal to the brand l’ve been using for 20 years instead!

    Great review! I'm looking into getting a jacket that can be used for frequent hiking and snowboarding a few times per year as well as general purposes. Would you recommend the Beta AR or do you think a Beta LT would be sufficient? Or another option of course.

    Excellent review, thank you.
    I’ve had 5 Arc jackets and loved them all but my prized Theta AR is delaminating over a huge section of the back. Like you, I’m on the taller side, and the Theta fit great being their longest shell. Unfortunately they stopped making it but I’ve heard that the newer Beta’s are longer than before. Do you know if that is accurate because that one seems to fit you very well and be longer than the previous models that I’ve seen.
    Thank you for your time.

      Hello! Thank you for the kind words and nice note. Glad you are a fan of Arcteryx as well. I feel that the back length is longer (and in a good way) but I do not have a previous generation to compare it too though. I do agree that the fit is very good. They build such good jackets! Take care

      Hi mate, I also have a 2017 Theta AR (small) which is delaminating with 2 non-functioning zippers. Today I tried on the current Beta AR (small) and I have noticed the Beta AR is tighter around the waist when you go to zip up and the rear section isn't as long as my Theta AR. There were no Medium Beta ARs so I could not say if this would fit me well, however I suspect it would be too baggy around the mid-section.
      From my internet research, the current jacket models that would match the Theta AR for length is the Beta SV.

      Hi, I’m not sure if this will help you or not but I spoke to an Arcteryx CS rep and he told me that they’re making a long version of the Beta now. I’m going to check into it as a replacement for my Theta.

    • @andomagic
      @andomagic 2 роки тому

      @@1AbominAble1 Mate that sounds like great news. I tried on a Medium Beta AR and it fits better around the bum area when you zip up but slightly looser in the mid section than the Small Theta AR. I will keep an eye out for the updated verisons. I did try a Medium Beta LT which has a good fit but I missed having a chest pocket. Other great features of the Theta AR was it had a stylish external chest zip garages on the top which was so well integrated into the jacket design unlike most other GoreTex jackets.

    In my honest opinion, I think the new Beta ARs may be more "durable" and maintain waterproof properties easier, but damn the shell is a lot thinner now. The older models had that nice thick rigid shell feel. Stock up on your vintage Arc'teryx now or you may pay a big premium soon.
