I love the fact that you guys allowed Reid to dig his own hole when asked question after question, and to see him keep crawling in it to attempt to hide. Well done.
Reid is a fraud with a lot of $... he knew exactly where his funding was going regarding those lawsuits to keep Kennedy off the ballot. It's stunning that he actually thought police officers were killed on January 6. And the fact that he doesn't understand those 34 misdemeanors that were construed to be felonies based on abstract legal theory tells me everything I need to know about him. He's not interested in the truth about Trump…not shocking.
Reid complaining about the Supreme Court decision on Roe v. Wade while saying that the thing he loves most about America is the rule of law was my favorite piece of irony
It’s so dishonest too. The consequence of that SCOTUS decision is that we now have by the most liberal abortion laws in the history of the world. Any woman in America regardless of what state she lives in can get an abortion for free into the 9th month of pregnancy. If that woman happens to live in a state like Alabama where abortions are more restricted Planned Parenthood pays to take her to a nearby state where she can get the abortion. This should be a non-issue. All SCOTUS said was that the court can’t just arbitrarily make laws. If Democrats wanted a national abortion law they’ve had decades to pass it - including the day after Row was overturned when they controlled both houses of Congress and the White House. DNC just realizes that they’re underwater by double-digits on immigration, inflation/economy, foreign policy, national security, etc. and they have nothing else to run on. They can’t run on “democracy” anymore given that they’re running a woman who was installed with zero votes. They can’t run on the economy because they’ve obliterated the middle-class. They can’t run on their “accomplishments” because inflation was 1.4% when the “American Rescue Plan” was signed and 30 days later inflation had more than doubled. They can’t run on Trump being a danger to the world because he started zero wars, was the only POTUS under which Russia didn’t invade a European neighbor, and he brokered more Israeli/Muslim peace deals than all previous presidents combined only for Biden/Harris to come in and immediately get us involved in proxy-wars on multiple continents. The only thing the DNC really has going for itself right now is 70% of wealth is controlled by Democrats and they have a near monopoly on the distribution of information. They control the national conversation. No matter what, everybody hears what the DNC’s saying about any given issue and more importantly everybody hears the DNC’s framing of whatever Trump and RFK Jr. are saying. It’s such a mess. These people are so unbelievably dishonest. Trump moved the GOP to the center on a wide range of issues and in response Democrats basically filled the void and adopted the Koch brothers’ wet dream on immigration policy coupled with an even more incompetent version of Dick Cheney’s foreign policy. What a mess. I’m a lifelong liberal and see my values MUCH more closely aligned with Trump than I do with the DNC today. That’s sad. Guys like Reid Hoffman are directly responsible for so much of today’s division and hopelessness. He has prioritized his emotional attachment to hating a single man above the well-being of the country that his own children will inherit. Crazy. TDS has never been more real.
Reid Hoffman had ZERO interest in listening to RFK Jr, let alone engaging with him. He logged off quickly. His statements about Biden's acuity were hilarious then, and are hilarious now.
“I was as surprised as you are! I had *trouble* making sense of it! How could be so lucid, yet have such a *concerning* debate performance?” Then “there *was* a democratic process :) a Democratic Party of democratically elected democrats selected the nominee by a zero transparency process” He’s smarter than this. Much smarter. And is playing his audience for fools.
He gave more than an hour of his time to take nonstop questions. The RFK Jr thing wasn't planned so it's totally fair to not want to stay for another hour when things felt like they were finishing up. Feels unfair to surprise your guest with that at the end of a discussion and make them look bad. Also, I didn't see any criticism of Sacks when he had conflict during the Cheryl Sandberg episode. He was given the benefit of the doubt as we should for Reid.

To have Reid Hoffman first and then RFK was a stroke of genius! You can immediately decipher why Democrat-leaning people tend to have flawed thinking, based on what RFK's saying and Hoffman's logical inconsistencies
It’s ironic to have both Reid and Bobby on the same show. The former is obviously a lying weasel who’s easy to see through, while the latter is genuine and sincere.
I was going to leave a comment about the disingenuous Reid Hoffman, but after reading so many other comments I’m filled with joy and good vibes that I don’t have to.
Agreed. He's defending the indefensible by being so vague about what he does and doesn't know about the process. You don't get to sit with the president for hours and know such detail about things he wants to talk about and then know so little about the things he doesn't want to talk about. AKA dishonest.
He didn't necessarily defend it, but he did insinuate that it must be okay because people seem happy with it - which is almost worse, because it's clear that most Democrats haven't given it any thought or are in just plain denial about being played by their own party. It's truly sad.
Substiture "very slimy" for "a little slimy" imo. This guy came across as a slippery eel on virtually everything he said, especially once it turned to politics.
Thumbs up for Hoffman…no point of view about Kennedy, except that he’s a human of intrinsic worth but also not a very good fit for running a large country.
Thumbs up for Hoffman, strictly on the basis that he's willing defend his positions publicly, in a hostile environment. Even though I disagree with his politics.
The irony with saying “We live in a Republic” is that your party was saying “Democracy is on the ballet” right up until Kamala was selected and forced on your voters.
For most of US history parties on both sides were selected during the conventions by insiders. I get the move not to allow chaos into the boat, seeing as she's on track to beat Trump.
You "get the move" and are fine with this absolute sham of a democracy, not to mention the completel corrupt and non transparent primary process? Am I misunderstanding you here? Trump is still saying the election was stolen... and will say the same if he doesn't win.
Reid strikes me as the kind of guy who tells you what you want to hear while working behind the scenes to advance his own agenda regardless of morality.
Allow me to simplify Reid's argument for Kamala... "Ya she says that, but she doesn't really mean it!" That is very reflective of the last 3 1/2 years for her, and Biden, and it should be very damaging for her current run. She's either lying or pretending about all her "policies" (or lack there of) long enough to get in and then she might have actually meant what she said...or worse.
Agreed. Hoffman explained away every controversial aspect of the political action groups he funds by saying that he has no control over their actions when, in fact, financial backers have the most influence and control of the groups they fund. He then agreed to sit on for the first 10 mins of RFKJ but quickly bailed when Kennedy began speaking. Complete coward!
Reid lies, but my take is that he doesn't believe them either and not in a pure TDS, ideologically driven way. He argues, weakly, like someone who has kompromat on them and is being closely watched. Why else would he bail on RFKJ if he really cared about what he believes in? 🤔
Hoffman's comments that Elon shouldn't be entitled to a return on his investment because he already has plenty of money is mind blowing. He should be a Delaware Judge.
What bothers me is that there was no exploration on the pod on who profited from the various spending programs of the Biden administration.. I think I may have heard somewhere a familiar name in relation to that...
Trying to paint RFK Jr as an anti-vaxer after all the statements he has made on his position is just stupid. Makes me question anything else Hoffman has to say.
RFK must be smeared to protect the Democrat Party. The Kennedys are an institution in the party. He needs to be branded as a nutcase for them to be able to shield themselves from his criticism. RFK deserves so much credit for going against his incentives and standing by his principles.
@@davemartin9912 RFK Jr first appearance on the show was pretty anti vax if I remember correctly. He used much stronger language to link a bunch of diseases to vaccines without hard evidence. Friedberg was even expressed concern about it. He has been much more measured with his language since then.
Here’s a little secret: you can distinguish who’s being truthful and who’s being dishonest based on their accuracy when predicting the future. For example, a few weeks ago Sachs claimed that Tim Walz would soon drop out of the vp slot because he was such a bad pick. However, since then, Walz has by far become the most popular person involved in the current election. Think Sachs was just wrong? I think he’s too clever for that, and he instead wanted to fool you into disliking a guy who’s gonna tax Sachs to buy us more healthcare and education and medicine.

@@matthewaskar9559 So how do you explain him 3x moving the conversation on - when his guest didnt answer or even talk to the subject matter. Which is incedentally what the rest of them noticed, which is why they re-asked and "stayed on the point".
For years the left claimed that RvW was "the law of the land". The only problem with it was the fact that when the Supreme Court ruled on it in the 70s, there was absolutely no law involved in the case that involved the details they included in their opinion. The activist Supreme Court chose to create law rather than do their job and interpret the constitutionality of existing law. That is why most legal scholars for years said it must be reversed. Trump is 100% correct on this. I am pro-abortion with limitations. I fact, when I was young and hadn't yet had children, I believed there should be more abortions, not less, because too many people simply should not be parents, and that forcing women to have children they didn't want would almost certainly result in a bad outcome for the child. Today I go with the actual science unlike both the right and left extremists. There are people in their 30s today living happy, healthy lives who were born at 22 weeks. With advances in caring for preemies, it's obvious that children born at 20 weeks or less have a great chance of survival. In light of that fact, I don't understand anyone not viewing it as murder to have an abortion after 3-4 months. If the rabid left spent half the time, effort, and money educating young women about birth control options as they did abortion, we wouldn't keep having this discussion. But "curiously", they don't.
U guys should have asked Reid whether he would fund a legal case against Biden for documents violation when he said Trump should go to jail for breaking the law
@@wwt17 Accidentally killing someone and intentionally killing someone has same outcome, but treated differently in law. So, no, not same. Dramatic difference between the two interviews. RFK was genuine and sincere in everything he said. It is clear to the audience that he's authentic and he means what he says. Hoffman lied several times, particularly about Biden's mental health. It was Joe Scarborough-like. He even used the word 'cogent', must have gone out as part of the instructions.
After 35 years of voting Dem, I’m flipping my script. I voted for Biden and will be voting trump. What they did to musk and the EV summit shows a level of corruption i have never thought was possible. In believable. Hoffman appears to be part of the problem.
The second Hoffman said Biden was coherent and sharp - I'm out. Guy is jaded or straight up lying. Bidens been gone for years. This pod will by very low ratings.
This is the beauty of the pod, we're getting takes from both extremes. From very powerful individuals as well. While I disagree and sometimes think he's lying and/or extremely financially biased, I do appreciate and agree with some of his takes.
BS radar very high. It's true you can't know for sure that he's obviously spinning BS but just the way he gives lot's preamble and stage setting before answering a question that is associated with his interests (Microsoft, open ai, broad monopoly questions), then when something which is aimed at Apple for example his answer is very simple and direct.
I was willing to listen to Reid up until the Jan 6th killing of police officers comment. It was then that I realized there isn’t a ounce of fairness in the man

He basically weaseled his way out of the important question asking how he's making a profit from a non-profit. And then said Elon is just mad he isn't getting a profit. What a disgusting human being.
I appreciated his takes. His OpenAI take he said 44 million that Elon put in shouldn't matter because you shouldn't expect a return from non-profit.

Reid actually said Kamala was good on the border!?! JC, Trump did not take away women’s right to abortion - the voters in the state of Texas did.
I can't consume what Reid Hoffman puts out. He has the political intelligence of The View.
