- Air rifle target shooting @ 100 yards featuring FX 25.4 grain pellets and H&N 0.250 diameter, 28.0 grain hollow point slugs. Rifle being used is a .25 caliber Avenger bullpup. Clear winner in this video. Regulator on the Avenger is set to 2500 PSI.

Awesome video and shooting at 100 yds it's tough to shoot sub-groups with any air gun high-end or low-end or whatever I was going to say to maybe season the barrel up with the same slugs or pellets might help or not js 😉 thanks for sharing be safe buddy 👍🏻

I think it is an interesting air gun caliber that isn't mentioned much.
Next 2 videos are on slugs. Went with .25 caliber because it hits harder then .22 for pesting and ammo costs half as much as .30 caliber. I shoot quite a bit, so, cost is important. My original purpose for buying the rifle was minor pesting around the house. Thanks for the comment and hope you subscribe!

I can see why you tried to choose a slug with a weight like the FX-Pelet!
However, in 25 caliber, the 28gn slug is considered very light! The Pelet has a big advantage over the slug in the airgun barrel! The Pelet stabilizes the projectile at two points! The front and the skirt at the back! The slug, only at one point, a short straight section at the back, and if it is too small /light slugs/ then the expected result may be maybe missed!
I'd use a 38 or 40gn weight slug, but as I wrote, I understand why you tested that way!
I'm not just writing this because of the weight, the straight "stem" of a lightweight slug in contact with the barrel rifling is small! This makes the slug less able to stabilize in of the airgun barrel. I only have a 177, but I use 16gn bullets there, not below! Not just because of the mass, but because it makes the bullet longer and therefore more stable in the barrel! It takes gyroscopic rotation more easily due to the elongated bullet design, so it stabilizes better in the airgun barrel, and air behind the bullet has less impact, when the bullet exits the airgun barrel! Although due to the elongated bullet design, the friction force is higher in the barrel, so you need to set a higher power setting, and it also consumes more air, but I think it's worth it!
I see in your test, that even a very light slug, gives a slightly better spread pattern than the FX pellet!
I've also seen in several tests by others, that at higher starting speeds, even better spread pattern for slugs! 900-950f/s, of course with a heavier slug! I noticed this in two different tests, 22 caliber heavy slugs were tested between 700 and 1000f/s! The best spread pattern at 100 yard, was around 900-950 f/s! Perhaps you could test 28gn slug vs 38-40gn slug. I'd be interested to see the spread pattern, of course if your airgun can provide around 900 f/s for the heavier slugs! I would be interested to know how much of a stabilizing effect the longer slug bullet design in the 25 caliber has! Sorry for my not so good English, maybe because of this, a few things are not clear. Thanks for your upload and test!
Thanks for you input......I find that my rifle just won't push past about 855 fps without the group opening up, reg is set to 2500 psi. I could increase the reg, but, I found it to be less consistent. Getting new rifle soon with more power and will compare pellets, slugs, and rifles.

Yes maybe. My Avenger is a bit limited on power because of the small plenum size (12cc). If I turn the regulator higher then 2500 psi, shot cycle is not as smooth and groups open up a bit. Thanks for commenting!

Great video! But how much holdover at 100 yards?
Scope was zeroed at 50 yards, so, 14 moa for pellets and 13 moa for slugs.
What you are doing is time consuming and is greatly appreciated !
The weight of the Diabolo and slug needs to be as close as possible . The speed of both needs to be as close as possible . The problem might be one flies better at a set speed than the other , not giving you an apple to apple accuracy comparison.
Both the pellet and slug are tuned as well as I can with this rifle. I have another rifle on order with more power, will probably try the same test with the new rifle.
