I do mine with potato roasted in hot ash, with charcoal hovering over it. Also the dry chillies till they are flaky or crispy. Then mash mash mash, pour a spoon of raw mustard oil, spring/green onions, coriander leaves and chopped raw onions. Voila! you got a savory and spicy dish that will enhance the taste of the blandest main course.
Nakkuppi is not mandatory, Azmal. You still can make this side dish without nakuppi. My dad always make kangmet without nakuppi as he doesn't like the mild garlic flavour which we get from maroi nakuppi.
