    I used it eat this in my school days in Imphal, I was in KV lamphalpath and one old aunty used to sell this. it was my routine to eat this. I lived in Manipur for almost 15 years. Miss those days. Gonna make this (vegetation vision) as i am veg .

    The real Singju can never be complete and perfect without Ngari (fermented fish) and Thoiding (perilla seed). Please make sure u add Thoiding and some other main veggies in ur next Singju-making video (just suggesting😇). Btw ur singju looks so tempting, sis.👍😋

      @@exoforlife9614Vegetarian can make singju without ngari or fermented fish. Those who have grown up with vegetarian food habit find hard to tolerate the smell. Even some meat eater or fish eater won't tolerate the smell. If Thai force u to eat fermented Pork Or Oak ngari u will run away , likewise they cannot ngari.. Fermented food are not for everyone, although it is eaten in every part of the world, even the Icelandic people eat fermented fish called Hakarl other vomit when they tried it.

      @@missionm8949 while talking about the authentic Singju that has been eaten since time immemorial i just said that its incomplete without ngari and thoiding but never said that it is a must for everyone and never mentioned that a Ngari hater must also put ngari to his/her Singju despite his/her dislike towrds Ngari. It can be eaten in many ways with many other different ingredients and recipes of your choice. When did i said that Ngari is for everyone? I was just talking about the taste and recipe which was left to us by our ancestors. What and how one prefers is their choices. Even in many grandfeasts ngari is excluded from singju bcoz of the specific occasion/condition which means that Singju can be prepared without Ngari and u should remember that i never wrote in my comment that u cannot make Singju without ngari or that one should be forced to put Ngari in their Singju.

      I cannot imagine a medical professional with such ignorance. Have you never ventured out of your hostel campus and never went shoping in Thangal and Paona bazaar where rows of shops owned by Biharis, Marawaris, UPites sell goods? I presume they have started speaking chinki language to woo the local manipuris who get flattered whenever someone says 'singju yamna hoawe' (singju tastes so good) 😂😂

    This reminds me of Thai and Vietnamese food. The Vietnamese do this thing called Bi Heo (pork skin salad) and Gỏi đu đủ (raw papaya salad). Bi Heo is shredded pork skin salad, with fish sauce and toasted rice. The toasting and fishiness reminds me of the cooking technique of toasted gram flour and fermented fish paste. The Vietnamese papaya salad and Thai Papaya salad (som tum) are similar they have fish sauce, lime, chilli.
    I went to a Burmese restaurant once and they had something similar, but I don't remember the name.

    Your singju is ok as it's hard to find some materials outside Manipur but still looks yummy.. Ya singju comes in many varieties but the most authentic singju should compromise ngari,thoiding ,singju pan,thambou,komprek,colomni,chilli better with king chilli,hawai matol n some herbs n fry beans or boiled... . I think u should also try Mimi singju the latest addition with easier n testy Moder singju... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    You have explained it quite well. But one thing that is very much not authentic is the methi leaves. We normally put fresh leaves of peas and never ever methi leaves. You probably mistook one for the other.

    This salad type manipuri dish is best served in street stalls mixed by Ema(The vendor) with fermented fish and chilli chutney with her own hands. The taste of Manipur.👌

    ,'Singju' may be of any suitable vegetables which we usually use since time immemorial but in authentic Manipuri singju I never heard of using Fenugreek leaves .... however you can use it as per your choice as Fenugreek leaves are good for health ..👍

    Perilla seeds most needed ingredient for singju
    Ngari is optional you can make singju without ngari too & singju should be mixed thoroughly than only good taste

      I am also from Manipur. In our hometown, we add onion and corriander leaves. It gives different taste, it's tastier.

      Manipuri is a big state, people make singju in their own ways but the real singju should be made by adding different types of veggies specially "tunnikhok" and 'komprek' give more taste and smell😘

    original singju doesnt have onions, coriander but it has more of different veggies that is not included in this video .... and most important in singju is perilla seeds 😊😊😊

      I think someone has given you the wrong information that Manipuri Singju dose not required onion and coriander and yes of course we can add perilla seeds too. Other then i have explained about what is the main and most important ingredients of singju in this video.

      The most important ingredient is perilla seed powder... ngari is optional because in Manipuri’s feast “ushop” we don’t use ngari in singju instead we use perilla seed powder and besan.Yes, we use ngari but it is not the main ingredient. Without ngari we can still make singju . This is not false information. I think you need to research more.

      Not boiled ! Shocked in the water for a while air dry it and dry fried on a pan.

    Raw cabbage is rich in goitrogen particularly glucosinolates which interfere with Iodine uptake by Thyroid gland. It is advisable for people with thyroid problem to avoid singju which contain raw cabbage.

    How can a singju be called , " AUTHENTIC" when you add ingredients that is not commonly used in Singju. Eg. Spring onions , onions , cabbage ( sometime cabbage but mostly , I prefer That Stem for the main part )
