When you watch enough of Tom Hiddleston's interviews you realize he's on a mission to charm every interviewer and make them all fall in love with him. I'm convinced he does it on purpose.
+asmakitto And every single member of the audience as well...I think he really does want to dominate the world. He's just going to charm everyone into loving him and then no one will be able to resist.
This is just glorious. Stephen did a good job of luring Tom into singing by singing with him instead of just making Tom sing on his own. That might have made Tom feel really exposed.
+Bobbybobob not really I mean the guests have a general idea of the topics they will be talking about but the host can go in whatever direction he wants. U could tell that Tom wasn't gonna sing but when Stephen started and the audience urged him on he bent to pressure lol
Here it is mind you perhaps he recorded it after he filmed the Hank Williams film After All it's only two years difference on the release dates I could quite easily see him recording this and then going on to the pirate movie ua-cam.com/video/VfFGI02I2KA/v-deo.html
check out the song him and Jack Black made together called My Kind Of America. Stephen sounds just like John Lennon. He used to be in a Rolling Stones tribute band and he was Jagger ' role
Wow this was so sweet Stephen Colbert did such a good job of making that sweet and friendly instead of super awkward. And Tom Hiddleston's commitment to making constant eye contact with everyone is so wild. What a duo.
If you can sing even a little, it's one of those things that, while you may not feel comfortable doing it at first, once you get rolling it just takes over and makes you really, really glad you did. And when there's good accompaniment and an audience to share in the fun, the joy increases. That's why so many singers stay with it for so long- it really is like a drug.
+Peter Phinney Did you watch the last four Bond films? Daniel Craig wasn't handsome enough but showed the world, Bond is more than looks. Besides Tom Hiddelston is very handsome and people seem to love him.
I think Stephen knew that Tom would be nervous. We all know it was rehearsed, but it probably helped Tom if Stephen told him to keep his eyes on him to combat his nervousness.. As you can see, it didn't take Tom long to get into it.
+hellsangel050894 when you sing with someone else you havent actually rehearsed much with or at ll, its best to look at their faces, since you can get instant feedback on your melody together
Stephen... *slow appreciative clap* well done & this is why you are an amazing human, giving other people out here hope for humanity. Appreciate Tom's talent & so well played with kindness, respect & entertainment without all the television ugliness & stupidity. Thank you for bringing back class & courtesy. I'm still not coming "back" to T.V. but I'll make an exception & stream your show faithfully, the late show doesn't know how lucky they are to have you.
I saw this movie and I dont understand why it didnt get more criticial acclaim. Tom plays the part very well and shows he is very versatile. Watch if you get the chance.
Probably due to Tom not sounding like Hank Sr. He did a good job singing but still doesn't sound like him, Williams' grandson Hank III actually looks and sounds like'm.
I only just learned about the movie. I don't think it was widely promoted. I enjoyed it. Tom's performance was great, and it was crazy how much he looked like Hank. I felt like his performance could have been even better had more time been spent on the film.
I didn't know a whole lot about Hank Williams before I saw this. It's a shame someone who composed such a beautiful song passed away so young and probably unhappy. Rest in peace. Thanks LNSC for this, simply glorious.
Stephen colbert can present the joke amazingly, makes hilarious jokes, gives with critiques of the news, cam act and sing amazingly. Is there anybody else on TV who rivals him?
+Andrei Terbea No, but Letterman was never known for being a crooner either. Colbert has a bit of a voice so he'll whip it out on occasion. Letterman was genius but Colbert's got a shot to get to that level someday as well.
I thought this was really cool. Stephen let some of his South Carolinian roots show. I grew up in Indiana, but if you don't think that Hank Williams music was huge in my parent's household then you don't know diddly. I was not a Country music fan when I was a kid, but Hank was always an exception and loved and now I appreciate all the great music that my folks introduced me to in my youth.
I always wondered when watching this, if Tom's reluctance was just a ploy. He's such a great actor, it's hard to tell. He did a magnificent job in that film, even if the film itself was underrated. Colbert is such a great guy and you can tell that he and Tom really bonded. Hope Tom comes back on Colbert when promoting Skull Island.
That's how you conduct an interview! *Mindblown!* What could've been an awkward moment (audience expecting Tom to sing, and him refusing), Stephen turned into absolute gold!
All of these late night show hosts are magic these days. Real talent! Especially loving Stephen Colbert and James Corden. They're bringing out the best qualities of show business and are truly entertaining.

+Warrior Girl That was -Loki- Tom's plan all along. :)
All shall love him and despair
I do not think he does it on purpose but he just cannot help doing it...
I agree with you except the part that he does it on purpose... He is a natural...
This is just glorious. Stephen did a good job of luring Tom into singing by singing with him instead of just making Tom sing on his own. That might have made Tom feel really exposed.
+Hema Malik Except it was all planned out exactly how they did it.
Still good though!
+Bobbybobob not really I mean the guests have a general idea of the topics they will be talking about but the host can go in whatever direction he wants. U could tell that Tom wasn't gonna sing but when Stephen started and the audience urged him on he bent to pressure lol
That's the closest I've seen him to being annoyed, and tbh I wouldve been too
That frustrated sigh before he gets lured into actually singing. Priceless. :))
The moment he learned that one does not simply deny Stephen Colbert a duet!
Stephen just managed what could've been an awkward moment with a guest, and turned into magic. He really is the best host.
Sarah Shah the person says “what coulda been an awkward moment” meaning it isn’t and Stephen handled it well
It was rehearsed
@@sarahshah1249 kinda missed the point.
I have the power to turn 999 to 1K
They have a pre-interview which they do all of this once before it goes public
What we see is just the second time and it’s planned before
I love how slightly threatening Stephen sounds when he says "we'll see:
I noticed that too ❤
That harmonising gives me chills
Anyone else blown away by Stephen's singing? Like Tom is great of course, but Stephen sounds like really good
yup he actually sounded like hank
Noah Goble True! Came for Tom, but actually stayed for Stephen haha
Pretty sure Stephen has some training. I vaguely remember him saying so
Stephen is in Sondheim’s Company with Neil Patrick Harris (it’s on UA-cam).
Stephen did a great job drawing him out.
Agreed. Stephen has a surprisingly great voice!
Tom: I've never sang
*sang in the Tinkerbell movie*
+NerdyGirl126 -he must mean 'on-screen'. an I think he played capt Hook in tinkerbell.
+VC YT He did! He played a younger version of Captain Hook, before he became Captain Hook
NerdyGirl126 He also sang onstage as Cloten in Cymbeline, for which he won an Olivier award.
Yeah I remembered that too but I think he meant that he never sang and played guitar as a solo before like someone in a rock band would.
Here it is mind you perhaps he recorded it after he filmed the Hank Williams film After All it's only two years difference on the release dates I could quite easily see him recording this and then going on to the pirate movie ua-cam.com/video/VfFGI02I2KA/v-deo.html
Love how Stephen suckered him into that. Performing on the spot, I appreciate the talent of Tom even more now!
+Branden Cooper He's really good at guiding his guests into doing what he wants them to do. Unless he's talking over them, that is.
It was planned out before the show.
Tom didn't want to sing. He wanted ppl to go see the film but... Couldn't resist 😂
Tom is such an incredibly talented man. Is there anything he can't do?
Math. Apparently, loll
+Mooncinder no
If they needed him to fly for a movie, he'd probably sprout wings.
+agizzy23 Hahahahahaha Yes!
He can't sing
I could listen to an entire country album in Stephens voice
+Harry Allsopp Me too. And I hate country.
+Ju M. , I don't like country music either but I love Tom!
His voice is deep enough to cover the whole Jim Reeves catalogue
@@juliaaa1111 I wouldn't say I HATE it, but not a fan & in my country, country music isn't just another type of music, it's in a different language
When it comes to duets, Stephen does not take no for an answer..
I'm honestly very impressed with Stephen's singing ability. I had no idea.
check out the song him and Jack Black made together called My Kind Of America. Stephen sounds just like John Lennon. He used to be in a Rolling Stones tribute band and he was Jagger ' role
ua-cam.com/video/Ue-7lkWMjOk/v-deo.html Colbert singing the national anthem at a baseball game w/ Patrick Wilson
He also headed an Elton John cover band when very young. He wanted to go into musicals. I seem to remember hearing he did one on Broadway 🤔
@Martine he was an altar boy in the Catholic church, maybe the choir too?
@@livb6945 omg that is awesome. I want to hear him singing some Elton John now.
Bits like this can be cringe-worthy, but this was awesome and really enjoyable. Tom, you make me wanna cry at how amazing you are. Ugh.
Cringe worthy?
it was noteworthy
Yeah it was really nice of him to agree to sing
The power of loki is strong.
Bro, completely different movie 😂
Wow this was so sweet Stephen Colbert did such a good job of making that sweet and friendly instead of super awkward. And Tom Hiddleston's commitment to making constant eye contact with everyone is so wild. What a duo.
never heard this song before somehow i was singing along with it bobbing my head from side to side lmao
It's Hank...lol he sings to everybody heart
look up hank williams
you really need to go check him out then. He was a legend.
tom hiddleston is precious
The way he licks his lips when he's nervous or uncomfortable is ADORABLE.
I would legitimately listen to an album of them together.
petitioning for this to happen
If you can sing even a little, it's one of those things that, while you may not feel comfortable doing it at first, once you get rolling it just takes over and makes you really, really glad you did. Spectacular performance! Tom looked really comfortable with Stephen.
My first choice for Bond, he would kill it as he so often does.
+Kamal Hussain No reason he wouldn't, with a license and all.
Lol
+Kamal Hussain is he handsome enough?
+Peter Phinney Did you watch the last four Bond films? Daniel Craig wasn't handsome enough but showed the world, Bond is more than looks. Besides Tom Hiddelston is very handsome and people seem to love him.
+Peter Phinney of course he is! damn, don't you have eyes? :-P
My grin was so big watching this. You can tell Tom was reaching for those tenor notes but UGH SO ADORABLE
Thank the music gods that Tom Hiddleston clapped on the 2nd and 4th beat! Loving him even more...
3:03 That moment when Tom acquiesces. :D
loved it
I clicked on this video thinking I would hear them sing a Tangled duet 😂
me too! lol!
O. M. G. I would pay big money to hear him sing Flynn's part in 'I See the Light'.
oh my god me too 😂
+Danielle Baggett LOL that was my first thought as well!
Lmao
actually quite impressed by Tom Hiddleston, I feel the need to learn more about him

Ok so Stephen basically shares sexual tension with ALL his guests.
I guess stephen is sexy when you face to face.
I think Stephen knew that Tom would be nervous. We all know it was rehearsed, but it probably helped Tom if Stephen told him to keep his eyes on him to combat his nervousness.. As you can see, it didn't take Tom long to get into it.

gia True.
.. but I like it
I'm honestly so in love with Colbert and his ability to make the most out of the strangest situations with his guests. What an incredible host.
Just kiss already.
+awsomo4000ness I was thinking the same exact thing.
+Cinemaniac Jean I saw that comment on a markiplier/jackscepticeye collaboration
well Stephen does get kisses from quite a few of his guests.. my fave was the Sally Fields one!!!
(◕_◕)
lmao riiight!? chuckle so cool to see an Interview that doesn't have "agendas" other than be real and have fun
I could listen to Tom's voice for forever... it's like a lullaby.
Velvet is the word that comes to mind.
OMG that voice... that f-ing voice, so relaxing and arousing at the same time.
Stephen "SING WITH ME" Colbert
This made me want to see the movie, which I did today. I really forgot Tom was on the screen. He did a great job. He does have a lovely voice.
Stephen was just as entranced listening to Tom as the rest of us. You can almost hear Stephen's thoughts: Keep talking, Tom.
Stephen... *slow appreciative clap* well done & this is why you are an amazing human, giving other people out here hope for humanity. He didn't even tried to do Hank Williams here, he just harmonized and it was perfect. God this man is actually too perfect to be real
I love them both. LOL that was a beautiful duet. :)
Harmonies are great!
They almost kissed.
I saw this movie and I dont understand why it didnt get more criticial acclaim. Tom plays the part very well and shows he is very versatile. Watch if you get the chance.

LFC FAN it is awesome
well freaking done, Stephen, that was smooth af
I have been waiting for a singing interview from Tom Hiddleston for so incredibly long
+cyandanjou also I'm sure he's lying about the "never sang before" thing lol he went to RADA it's one of the course requirements, silly Tommy
+cyandanjou Probably not like this, like a role for something or an actual choir where he had to sing regularly.
I LOVE his passion for his work and for all the characters he played!!
Agreed, his passion and knowledge really comes out through his insightful answers!
Hiddleston knows to clap on 2 and 4 not 1 and 3 like the audience.
Like many country folks, you clap on the downbeat. He learned from the best. 👏🏼
I'm wondering if it's intentional, or just the sound delay
It makes a great contrast to the audience's clapping. Very nice.
Yes! Somewhat frustrating to watch lol
Friends don't let friends count on the 1 and 3😆
Ugh Stephen has such a beautiful bass and Tom's tenor matches it damn perfectly. Love the way their voices meld
I saw this pop-up at 1:00 in the morning and I knew I had to look.
Never have I been happier. I love this man.
THIS HAS JUST MADE ME FALL IN LIVE WITH HIM!
He has a beautiful voice and boy do those two harmonise well together! 😮
I'm in Live with him too...☺️
How can you not love Tom Hiddleston?! OMG he's so amazing!
Stephen will not take no as an answer to "Will you sing with me?"
my baby Tom sings so beautifully :')
That has got to be one of my favourite interviews. Great harmonising too.
"Ha ha ha yea we'll see"...Stephen was on a mission and wasn't taking no for an answer lol
i love them both so much!
Poor tom! He seemed so shy and nervous, i just wanna give him a hug! :')
Aw that was so cute 😍 can't wait to see the film
What a decent interview. Not like jimmy fallon which looks like a stand up comedy rather than focus on the interview itself to be with a substance.
Love tom!! Stephen is so sweet when he looks at tom when they sing lol
i can't believe he's only 3 years older than me.
feeling quite unaccomplished right now.
+Marcus Chan I hate those moments so much...
+Marcus Chan - Think like Alan Rickman. It's never too late.
+Marcus Chan Ugh so lucky. He's like: 10 years older than me :(
+Marcus Chan I mean, three years is a long time, dude. :D Tom wasn't really in anything big until Thor, which was basically a shot straight to fame.
Karen Stephens that's true... !!
I come back to this clip time and time again because it makes me happy. Two great people and a great song.
Tom is so lovely!
I didn't know a whole lot about Hank Williams before I saw this. It's a shame someone who composed such a beautiful song passed away so young and probably unhappy. Rest in peace. Thanks LNSC for this, simply glorious.
You gotta listen to all of his music...my mother jammed all his songs
Stephen colbert can present the joke amazingly, makes hilarious jokes, gives with critiques of the news, cam act and sing amazingly. Is there anybody else on TV who rivals him?
I watch this when im sad. Thanks Stephen and Tom!
Hiddles is blushing! Check out his neck at the start of the singing, it turns visibly pink 😄
Oh my gosh he's just the cutest...
The amazing man that is Tom Hiddleston!
I could honestly listen to this all day. its so damn good
i love this man so much
Such a great Loki 😌
Can you picture Letterman ever doing something like this?
Andrei!!!
+Oliver Gray daddy forgive him
Whoa! Andrei! Didn't expect to see you here! Go back to animating Sam's ever-changing hair and Steve's beard!
+Andrei Terbea No, but Letterman was never known for being a crooner either. Colbert has a bit of a voice so he'll whip it out on occasion. Letterman was genius but Colbert's got a shot to get to that level someday as well.
no
Who else clapped at the end of this video? That was a damn brilliant duet. Also, Tom and Stephen, JUST KISS AND GET IT OVER WITH.
Beautiful harmony... Amazing that Tom adjusted himself so quickly to it
just when I though I could not love this guy more....
That was Beautiful
Why did I wait so long to watch this? So happy Tom is finally getting late night appearances!
This made me cry it was so beautiful
I thought this was really cool. Stephen let some of his South Carolinian roots show. Hear that?
The sound of tumblr making gifs of this epic tv moment....
+Tafami I hope so. :)
I guess no one is immune to Tom Hiddleston's charm and intellect, not even Stephen Colbert. ;)
OH MY GOODNESS. I CAN'T PROCESS ALL OF THIS. this is amazing!!!!!!!!! beautiful duet!
Tom's literally the most beautiful, charismatic, calming, intelligent human being on Earth...
I always wondered when watching this, if Tom's reluctance was just a ploy. He's such a great actor, it's hard to tell. He did a magnificent job in that film, even if the film itself was underrated. Beautiful
Tom Hiddleston is the very best.

This is another reason I love tom hiddleston
Beautiful gospel number. Praise the Lord ❤️
OMG i could not stop smiling ahhhhhhh

I agree, I've been extremely stoked with Colbert and Corden, they are great.
I always look forward to their shows, I'm stoked on their formats.
3:03 Tom is shy at first and then sings the harmony beautifully!!! My angel!!! 😇😍
Such a warm and jolly moment on tv.
This is my new favorite thing on the web. Stephen's voice is gorgeous here!
Stephen's thatrare type of host that can create t.v magic without ever having to try
Tom can have chemistry with anyone. Damn.
Wow, Tom became a real gigantic star. Bravo,
Stephen Colbert has an amazing voice, in particular this kind of songs. Wow 👏👏Tom Hiddleston is an excellent actor including to sing.👍👏👏
This is the most beautiful, most heartwarming thing I have ever seen. Why on earth was Tom embarrassed? That was absolutely brilliant!
Dude the harmonization though 😭💚
Tom, you're a star! What a good sport!
