- Progress after my second rotator cuff surgery, but this time on my right shoulder.
1. Right shoulder, diagnostic arthroscopy
2. Right shoulder arthroscopic supraspinatus rotator cuff repair
3. Right shoulder arthroscopic biceps tenodesis
4. Right shoulder arthroscopic subacromial bursectomy
5. Right shoulder arthroscopic debridement anterior and posterior labrum, subscapularis
6. Right shoulder arthroscopic partial anterior and posterior synovectomy
Excellent!!! I’m fully recovered from my rotator cuff & bicep surgery in September’22. Now I have a new challenge - dealing with a broken knee cap! Lots of what I learned before is useful for this like upgrading our recliner. Blessings on your continued progress.
Best wishes and I have heard rotator cuff rehabilitation is the worst, so hopefully your knee recovery isn’t as brutal or long.
Week 5 tomorrow after right rotator cuff, bicep tenodesis, and bone spur removal surgery. Just getting into the good stuff now. It’s not easy at 61 yo, but keeping the faith! Loved all that softball in my 20’s, but I’m paying for that fun later😂.
Keep the faith! It’s a long challenging recovery, but worth the effort. I’m on my second round (now had both shoulders fixed from the same issues) and June 2024 my shoulders will be 100% healed. This summer I will be beyond excited to be getting back to my active lifestyle.
Was looking forward to the weekly updates as life in the sling seems like a real bummer. Hope you had a chance to record some other updates!
This is my second round of rotator cuff recovery and rehab. I had the same surgery on both sides. I haven't been recording weekly videos, but instead just key moments of my second round of rehab. I do have videos of my weekly and monthly recovery from my first rotator cuff full thickness tear and bicep reattachment surgery! Check out my channel and go to the Rotator Cuff Surgery & Rehab ❤🩹 Playlist.
@@AnneSchmidt Gotcha. I’ve gone back and rewatched the videos as theyve been helpful in prepping for my 2nd surgery as well. If you do happen to get a chance to make videos in the sling, workouts Or recommended exercises in the sling would be great!
The second time around was a rough go! I am still in PT a year later. How are you doing? Here if you have questions. Sorry for the delayed response.
This is great to hear
I also have left rotator cuff last year Nov 9 2022
This year my right rotator cuff and bicep tenodesis 2 months postop
We are definitely unique! I haven’t met anyone else who like me had both shoulders fixed because they both had full thickness tears in the supraspinatus tendon. Best wishes on your recovery and rehabilitation.
I unfortunately have joined the club though I've only had one shoulder fixed so far. Full thickness tear in both plus bicep tenodesis to be performed in both.
@@simonshurety3870 sorry to hear that BUT welcome to the club. You got this!
Wow Anne, you have completely blown me out of the water by comparison in recovery time. The 14th of October will be four months since I had a similar surgery and just the thought of such dynamic movements has me wincing.
My main question though is should I be screaming out loud while the physio is manipulating my arm?
I'm by no means a tough guy but I've broken my leg/arm/foot/hand (not all at the same time lol) and I've never felt so much pain as when the physiotherapist is wrenching my arm about.
I too have had numerous surgeries and injuries, and this one takes the cake as the most painful. I am in month 4 of my recovery and I STILL have pain and Physical Therapy sessions are NOT pain free, in fact they are still semi-painful. Trust the process and you will get there. This recovery and rehab is LONG and it takes some huge willpower, many positive thoughts and massive perservance. You will get there in your own time. Just keep working towards your goals. Best wishes and reach out if you have any questions. I think having gone through this a year ago with my left arm, I just have gotten used in a rhythm of rehab! lol I am not sure what I will do with all my time that I won't be a PT twice a week for 6 months.
@@AnneSchmidt Thanks Anna, I'll do my best to remember your positivity when I get my other shoulder operated on.
I found a new physiotherapist so I am no longer dreading PT sessions!
Hope you are well! Thanks for the positive comment. Sorry for the delayed response.
@@AnneSchmidt A year post surgery and my left shoulder is doing great! Chin ups still aren't fun for my bicep yet though :)
All the physio work has strengthened the wrecked non-operated right shoulder so much that despite the 80% full thickness tear it's doing pretty well and my surgeon won't operate for the time being.
@@simonshurety3870thats outstanding! I have been trying to do dips and pull ups at a year post op from my right and two for my left with no success. But that’s because of my weaknesses from back to back years of rehab not my lack of ROM. Hoping a year from now I’m back to my full athleticism. Best wishes and it’s great to hear you have avoided a second shoulder surgery for now. Keep me updated on your progress!
how old were you when you got the first one done? what caused the injuries?
Athletics and physical work like painting, yard work, … it was from a lifetime of play hard, work hard, pay hard!
