I love this film with every fibre of my being. I watched it almost three months ago and , I kid you not , I've been thinking about it every single day since.
One of the best films I have watched in years. Julia had already gotten some eyebrows raised in 2016 after “Raw”. She raised the bar quite high with “Titane”. It is one of those films that keeps you thinking about even days after watching it. Less than a handful have exerted that impact on me so far. Granted! It is not for everybody, it is unconventional, aggressive, cathartic to the point that it easily gets the viewer off the comfort zone. The leading actress speaks no more than ten words in the whole film. You do not need words when a look, tears, dance can speak for themselves. Body expression is centrally powerful in the film. And the music from “Future Islands” does the rest of the trick. “But I've seen the way That bodies lie and bodies tend to break And I've been away I've been away too long Too long to be afraid” “And this is where we were When I showed you the dark Inside of me, in spite of me On a bench in the park You said to me: This is not you” “And this is where we are In your bed, in my arms Outside of me, in spite of 'we' And you said to me You know What you know is better Is brighter” A scene of firefighters dancing in brotherhood trance comes into its own. Dancing, indeed, is an outlet for those men to release pent-up anger, emotions, and energy. Relations being expressed through physical confrontation, camaraderie, trust. The beauty and art of unspoken movements being carried away by the occasion. I would give 5/5 stars. This is the film I believe will get away with the Academy Award for best foreign film of 2021 and, wishfully, best leading actress.
I’m still obsessed with this movie months later. Anything Ducornau does will be on my must watch list. Same with Agathe, whom I wish to see in more movies or projects. Vincent did an excellent job and I will look for more movies he’s done.
They speak surprisingly good English, for French persons. Strange to see that Julia is such a normal-looking and pretty lady but she has such a complex and twisted cinematic mind.
not kidding but i just finished the film and have been crying without being able to pinpoint why exactly; now i'm astound to hear her say that someone else experienced the same. still in disbelief.
I put off watching Titane up until last week.. and the reason was it was about making sure I had no bias from the public perception. I did like Raw a little although I had concern that the public reception over films like this would ruin my watch of this... so putting it off for 3 years would be good to eliminate that. So it was if i was going into the film fresh and thats what I needed cause it helped me experience the film properly. A good takeaway from this film is that the main stars really commit to their characters and with Julia's direction it makes this doubly as good as Raw imo.
Off the scope. The premise is ridiculous--but what isn't these days? For fiction to work, it must be weirder than reality to compete with it, and THIS movie qualifies.
LOL such a funny comment. Should we believe the bizarre should be expected from bizarre looking people? And beauty from only beautiful looking people? 🤣
Ambitious, interesting and bad imo. Just because it's "Art" doesnt make it good. Just because it's different & unconventional doesnt make it good. Directress seems to be very arrogant. She says it took her ~3 years to write the script and one year of that period she was completely blank...yeah, ONE CAN TELL.

@Lindy T it is! Grace is my favourite record..
The passion these individuals have is what makes it such a good film.

Julia is beautiful. Hard to believe she makes these crazy movies
Her films are 100 times better than these god awful remakes.

I LOVE this film. It’s in my top 10 favorite films of all time. ❤️ Well done, Julia and all involved. 👏🏼💯
