Yes Chris that's the problem with all these perfumes! I agree w you ... and Wha? 1-2 hrs? ... I'm still watching and writing... I was doubting about getting it, but now I deff won't. Yesterday I was wearing Coco Noir and I love it, I also have Chance Eau Tendre I was wearing it today... I love, love Christalle Eau Vert which is my fav for summer, but Comète, I won't be buying it, I'm happy with my other Chanel perfumes. Thanks for your review, I find it very interesting. The longevity on it was very very weird. I tested it 4 days two at home, and two out and about. When at home the scent seemed to wear longer 3-4 hours. Testing it outside the scent would leave within 1.. maybe 2 hours. It could be just me, but I haven’t heard great reviews on the longevity. This seems to be a trend with Chanel though. The Les Exclusifs would wear longer and better in the EDT formulation. They must be cutting the oil percentage.
Fair review, though I got to love Comète more and more with use and found a lot of facets I didn’t recognise at first.
Strangely, Comète is really long-lasting fragrance to me. I still smell it the next day.
Thank you! I really really wanted to love the fragrance. The fragrance for me would wear pretty good indoors but as soon as I hit the outdoors it dispersed. It could be a me thing. I’m glad you love it though. It’s always nice to see people fall in love with fragrances.
@@vscents5674 Comète is heavily musc based so maybe this is a factor. A lot of people experience poor performance with musc based fragrances and/or have problems smelling it for a longer period.

Hi Chris! As usual, your review is thorough, comprehensive, and fair. I previously received a sample of this fragrance and I found it stunningly similar to Johnson & Johnson baby bar soap. My first wife used that product 40 years ago and it is a scent I never have liked. This Chanel product is not for me. On the other hand, today I did add Chanel No.5 L’Eau to my collection and I love it. But this new one from Chanel is definitely not for me. Thank you for your excellent review!
Thank you for much! I was very sad and really really tried to love it. I love what Chanel fragrances smell like but this one was a huge let down for me. No. 5 L’EAU is one of my absolute staples. It’s smells amazing. Perfect summer scent.
I was actually surprised at how much I actually disliked Comete. By nature, I’m not a very negative person, but I had a very negative reaction to it. Chanel has fragrances that are just perfection: for example,Bleu de Chanel Parfum. I am struggling to figure out who the market is for this new fragrance? Definitely a feminine leaning fragrance, but what age group and what other group characteristics would find this highly appealing?
@@bubba7177 I agree with you. It is rumored that prior to the economical issues in China, Comète was created to capture the hearts of the Asian client. They did the same thing with Le Lion in the Middle East. I’m sure it will do will initially, because it’s Chanel, but I’m not sure how well this scent will age.

Yes. It leans towards the feminine side.
btw, my fav fragrances for the summer are those with fruity notes and this year I am especially into citrus and I am going to get the Acqua Allegoria Bergamote Calabria, I was given a small sample and I love it! but it took me a while to decide to finally get it. Could you please recomend some frangrances in that range or similar? I also like Roger & Gallet Eau Perfumée (Perfumed Waters) I love them for super hot days
That’s a hard one. I have so many to pick from. I love No.5 L’EAU for summer it’s the perfect balance of old world luxury and modern minimalism. Celine Parade is more expensive but it’s just magical, it grabs the attention of anyone without being load of annoying. Cartier is a brand that makes amazing frescoes, they don’t get the love they deserve. Cartier Baiser Vole is a nice floral, fruity, and citrusy scent perfect for everyday. I hope that helps you.
