And yet, however well he plays, however much he listens and does what is asked of him, with your eyes closed you can always tell when it is Schiff who is playing : just that bit more lyrical , just that bit more convincing, just that bit more beautiful.Therein lies the wonder.
I was hugely impressed by Hin-Yat Tsang at the Chopin competition and couldn't understand why he didn't pass to the second round (I wrote in the comments at the time). How wonderful to hear him again, He is clearly a superb musician and I look forward hearing how he continues developing. Wonderful playing.
Fascinating how Schiff seems to understand the piece not only as music, but the music theory underpinning the entire score...as well as his linking the themes to Schuman's lieder.
Love this one. As I heard the pianist play I was wondering how much they would even have to talk about. Cool to watch Schiff pick apart such a polished set. He clearly enjoyed working with this pianist as well.
Sir András has such a character. His enthusiasm about music makes his masterclasses so enjoyable.

Still a wonderful student though, but I agree with you completely
Jenny Backwell you are absolutely correct. Some subtle differences!

It is amazing how Schiff transforms a good performance into a great one.
I don't play music but this is so fascinating. It's incredible the deep knowledge the professor has of this piece
Most enjoyable and instructive masterclass I’ve ever attended. Both musicians seemed to enjoy it too!

Utterly fascinating and deeply instructive master class.
Maestro Sir Schiff enters at 27:10.
I have goosebumps watching this video. Amazing!
Sir András Schiff is my spirit animal... XD, but in all seriousness this piece demonstrated his Technical knowledge in the Classical repertoire
