This video was so fucking inspiring .......great content as always
@@conradbarnard5807 Super happy to hear that man!👊
I'm so glad that you've brought this amp sim video back Rob. I've really enjoyed seeing what you can do with amp sims. Plus how you have some drums with your recorded ready to add with your guitar. That's one thing that I've always wanted to know is how the left and right is added. As you know when your listening to an album with your headphones on and you get one guitar solo in the left ear and then in the right. More so with Slayer of course. So I hope that you keep on making more of this Rob. Thank you for another great video.
Hey glad you dug it Darren! 🎸
That is multitrack mixing at its finest and knowing how to do that is a "Lost Art."
I'm still breaking it down writing a scratch guitar track to a metronome and recording drums to that then going back and recording bass, guitar, and vocal tracks and ironing out details
Another great video Rob. Very informative. You simplify everything. Nice!!
Hey I appreciate that Rick!
yo this was fire. as a n00b just getting into recording and playing with STL, loved this. That pan left and right tip for guitars was a massive help too , thank you !
Happy to hear it bro! Good luck on your recording journey!
I enjoy these videos, I've definitely learned a lot from them! Thanks Rob! 🤘
Happy to hear that bro!🤘
This one and the Jason Suecof packs are my favorites! The last preset in the Driftwood amp through the Engl cab is my favorite in the Mark Lewis pack.
I use the Tonehub, too. Mark Lewis does have killer tones in his suite, but so do many of the other artists. Colin Richardson & Josh Middleton's are also killer.
Mark Lewis pack is a beast. The defaults are awesome. I played with your preset that you posted a while back that rips. Lately, I have been using JST toneforge disruptor for a bunch of 7 string stuff pretty cool and worth a check out
Hello Rob. I haven't played electric guitar for a while, your videos just make it so tempting to pick it up again!!!
That's what I like to hear bro!🎸
Never stop playing electric!!!
That lead part absolutely slayed man!! Expect no less from you :D
👊🤘
Holy cow man, that black LTD with the white trim that u played that solo with at about the 2:00 mark...I was drooling over that thing! I have a 7 string LTD and I love it, but that one was flippin' gorgeous...and I'm a drummer lol!
Haha thanks dude! 🤘
Killer stuff Rob❤
Thanks dude!
Abrazo y saludos!
¡Hombre asombroso! ¡Salud a ti, a tu mamá y a Argentina!🤘
Sounds awesome 😎 thanks for showing us the process great video Rob. Loving the rock star hair brother 🤘
Hey thanks Chris! 🤘 🤘
Nice. Now to tighten up my rhythm playing and I’ll sound like the boss himself 🤘
You got this! 👊
First off..that tone you're getting is MONSTROUS! Definitely gotta check out that pack. Secondly, was wondering..have you had any experience, or interest, in reviewing any lunchbox amps for the old school home studio folk out there? Been hearing some good things coming from Orange, Peavey, EVH, and Joyo lately. Heavily debating in checking out one of the Joyo amplifiers, specifically the Zombie and Vivo models. Keep up the great work!! 🤘
Thanks man! If any of those amps you mentioned were to fall into my lap, I'd love to check them out! As of now, I've yet to ever mess around with any mini/lunchbox style amps.
Very interesting video! I'll think about trying the ToneHub and some of these packs in the future! This one sounds killer! I vaguely remember Mark Lewis as a producer for Cannibal Corpse's 2014 album "A Skeletal Domain" as well as Deicide's "To Hell With God" and some DevilDriver ones... didn't he also engineer some of Jason Suecof's landmark productions like Trivium's "The Crusade" and Chimaira's "Resurrection"? Anyway those are some amazing crushing rhythm tones and very interesting recording tips for folks like me who are still on the learning side of things when it comes to recording! I also dig the riff you wrote there, it reminded me a bit of early 2000s Slayer (the God Hates Us All era) meets Infection era Chimaira! The lead break was pretty freakin' neat too!🤘🏻
Great stuff as always Rob, I had a lot of fun watching all of it! Cheers!
Happy to hear it Jules! Yes, Mark Lewis engineered most of the guitars, bass, vocals, and keys on Resurrection!
Thanks for tuning in and enjoying the vid man! Best of luck on your recording journey!
@@RobArnoldWorld He and Jason Suecof did a fantastic job, that album is still a blast to listen to in its entirety! I'm a sucker for old school analog productions but I also dig a lot the more modern ones when done right, and Resurrection still sounds masterfully crafted over 18 years later IMO 🤘🏻 As for the video, it was really interesting and informative, especially that bit on the EQ trick to make the guitars more tight and organic! I'll watch the other songwriting-recording stuff soon! Very cool stuff and well put together content, in three years this channel has become so goddamn powerful! 😆 Couldn't resist quoting some of Resurrection hahahah! All jokes aside, since I've casually discovered it last year it's become one of my favourite channels to follow, every video has much effort, enthousiasm and thought behind and it clearly shows! Keep it metal! 🤘🏻 Cheers!
@@JulesN. Man, that's great to hear Jules! I truly do appreciate it! I try and make every video the best it can be, and it's awesome to har that you've noticed that! Cheers brother!👊🙏🤘
Top shelf content as always. I’ve recently gone the digital route myself and I’m so impressed with the whole STL package. It’s great to see your work putting this track together with bonus little tips that have come about from years of experience.
Cheers bro!🤘
Youve made several video reviews on what you think are great gutiar sims, but what is yiour ultimate favorite one ? Thanks fof all the info and really diggin this channel!!
Thus far, THIS is it! It's my go-to for all of my productions over the past few years. However recently, I've been using the Rhino plug from Aurora DSP, and it's quickly moving up my list of favorites! Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/4nckELTIGn4/v-deo.html
Great plugin once again Rob! any chance you'll test out that Dino Cazares Disruptor Plugin?
Thanks man! If the Dino plug falls into my lap, I will most certainly give it a whirl!🎸
Still awesome makes me inspire to male metal music rob you are still one of a kind big chaimira fan since early 2000s...godspeed idol❤❤❤ more vids like this!!!
Cheers bro!👊
@@RobArnoldWorldthanks for the notice idol... ❤
That riff is really catchy. Did you release a recording of it like on spotify or something?
Nope! Just something I came up with for the video. 🤘
what crate amp were you using before it fried. I loved the sound of it.also what cab.
Crate G1600XL! In this video I'm playing it through a Marshall 1960 BV ua-cam.com/users/shorts_RFs9Bdh5L4
I can't remember which model Crate cab I had as a kid though.
Do a video on your marshall or crate amp it would be cool
wuhu 😁 didn't know what you would come up with, with this title. but super glad that it is the mark lewis packet, since i already bought it, because i have seen it on your channel and it somehow convinced me, although i am not a professional musician and most of the time try to work with free/low-budget stuff and i am not a fan of abo stuff so i took the once-pay option, which is not really cheap.
I hope you dig it like I do man!🎸
iv said tonehub is king but sooooooooo many new ones are busting out and are slaying as well!
Some good tips in this one! Q: What monitors do you use? I'm happy with my tone but I've found my 2.1 speakers are bass heavy and lose so much clarity while my current monitors lack bass and overall punch. Im searching for power/chug/punch without sacrificing clarity.
Right on! I've used the DynAudio BM5's for over a decade now and I absolutely love them. You can find them in my gears list if you'd like to check them out! imp.i114863.net/RobsGearList
Everything with Marks name on it is fuckin killer the dude just knows how to get shit sounding awesome. 🤟😛
I'm tired of circle pits up front down here - could I get one in the back? all the way around the sound booth
❤
By the way I want to be in the shape of a butterfly but bleeding
I’ve always been confused with how many options these plug-ins and modeling amps have and how they work. So with these, do you just plug your guitar right into a computer? And where does the sound come out from?
Actually you need some sort of interface to get your guitar into your computer.
From there, sound is reproduced through the interface outputs, which you monitor with speakers or headphones. Here is an article you can check out to learn more about interfaces!
👨🏻💻Recording interface buyers guide: imp.i114863.net/interfacebuyersguide
MARSHALL JCM 800'S WITH CELESTION SPEAKERS.
NOTHING will ever beat them. They simply blow your head off.
What songs are these riffs and solos from in the beginning?? Absolutely crushing stuff, Rob!! Mark Lewis really knows his stuff, these tones are great!
Thanks dude! They're all from various gear demo video's I've made. Check out some of my playlists and you'll find them all! 🤘
@@RobArnoldWorld I must've missed some videos! Will go hunting! This is album-worthy stuff, man! 🤘🤘
@@Maggai Right on!🎸
I've sorta given up on spending money on guitar plugins for now, but STL is on my list for sure.
You can make any plugin sound like any other plugin or album, if you replace the cabinet with a captured eq curve from whatever source you choose.
It's really great but at the same time, I wish I never discovered it.
It's almost like discovering cheat codes.
it's fun for a minute but it spoils the game when you can have everything with no effort.
Have you tried the toneforge disruptor? It's one of the only amp sims iv seen that has some different features.
@@Durkhead I tried it about three weeks ago.
Really enjoyed using it.
I ended up tone matching the album tones into Neural Gojira just before the trial ended 😂.
The DI feature is pretty sweet, same with the dynamic eq too.
Saved me having to run a separate instance of Fabfilter.
Neural dsp is my go too these days so much all my gear is gone.
Is it compatible with Audacity
What software are you using? Protools? Apple?
Yep, Pro tools and Mac!
I had tonehub but switched to amphub but i use the bogren amp knob the most i just lik amphub for effects but but the mo soundlab free one does the same migh cancel my stl account ahhh its so hard to pick lmao
My issue with plugins is the constant weird crackling, pops and/or noise. Could also possibly that I use a Scarlett solo.
Hi, have you tried using a fretwrap? Even a DIY one helps big time
@@miyaaaaw it's not string noise, it's electronic noise from my PC. I've built a massively expensive PC and can not use plugins with it... it even effects my analog signal when I use pedals and an amp. I have to turn it off to not get the bleed over.
@@SnakePool oof! I know the feeling
I've yet to try any STL plugins but Neural DSP has some incredible stuff, the new Archetype Rabea one with the synthesizer is insane. These amp sims will never be the quite same as plugging into a proper tube amp but the amount and variety of sounds you can get for a 100-200 bucks instead of buying several thousands worth of amps and pedals is just too good
I love neural dsp. I just got them all for free. Best sounds in the game
@@pattol666how for free????
In my adventure of first listening to your riff. I said hey that sounds a lot like Hed Pe. So I went to
Listen to it “Pay Me” and yep but completely changes it when you add your lead.
Anyway 😂
I found that Spicuzza interview BUT have no way of getting it to
You RA …super sorry frand.
🤘🏻💀
Such useful information! Thank you, Rob! 🤘 As someone who is struggeling to find plugins that sounds good or that i like, this is definitely one i feel i have to try. I have a question regarding your lead and solo tones. Do you use the exact same settings and amp model as your rhythm for it, or does it depend on the song? I would also like to know if you make use of any pedals like delays or reverb for solos specifically?
Have a great day man!🤘
Right on! For my lead tones when I'm using this Mark Lewis suite, I use the same exact tone, and then I also add some delay and reverb. My entire solo album, Magnitude, is a great example of all of this. Everything you hear on that record is all Mark Lewis STL Tonehub.
And then live, it's the same. 6505+ tone for rhythms, and then that same sound with the addition of some delay and reverb. I used to use FX pedals for those effects, but then I switched to the Digitech GSP 1101 multi-fx unit to handle all of my effects. You can learn more about my live rig in this video if you're interested! ua-cam.com/video/E4rrR_ULrwU/v-deo.html
@@RobArnoldWorld Thank you for always taking the time to respond to questions from your community. We appreciate you so much! The things I've learned from watching your videos alone is invaluable. You are a great teacher and also a great human being. I love your tone on your Magnitude album. I remember many years back when i first started playing guitar, i bought a guitar magazine (i think it was Total Guitar) and in the magazine there was a tablature with a small section of "Powertrip" and on the accompanying cd was the backtrack of that section to play along with. That was the first time i heard of Chimera and i really liked the aggressive groove. I bought the Impossibility Of Reason deluxe edition album shortly thereafter and got my mind properly blown! So with that being said, i have tremendous respect for you.🤘
@@DeanBothaMusic I appreciate that brother! Thanks for the longtime support and love for the music! 🤘👊
TwoNotes!!!! The Rack TORPEDO. I love it
Mark Lewis has the best drum kit for Superior Drummer as well as some phenomenal signal chains in STL Control Hub. That man knows great sound.
This is great! Thanks Rob! Been kinda poking around for a new DAW. I currently use Ableton but… I think that relationship may have reached its end.
Personally I'm only familiar with Pro Tools, but it's what I've been using for 20 years, and I love it! All DAW's are just tools, and how you use them it what sets them apart!
@@RobArnoldWorld 🤘👊🤘
Amp sims a great nowadays. BUT nothing comes close to a real amp and a real cab. For me it's inspiring when you stand in front of a real rig and start jamming. You can't compare that to the digital sound coming out of the PA system.
Hi
is this a paid ad ?
It is not.
😂 sorry for the spelling...im riding shot gun on my way to work and my english is not the best also😅
Seems all good to me man!🤘
This sounds killer I just HATE the idea of paying a subscription for a program. Give me the option to buy and *OWN* it. I don't care if they want to go the super pricey route or piecemeal the amps and cabs at like $15-$20 apiece, I'd rather pay that either way than have to worry about another recurring bill for as long as I want to record music.
There's an option to buy it without subscription
@@Durkhead Nice! That should always be an option. Way too many products are on subs these days.
Please to a guitar lesson on Prototype!! 🙏
Thanks Rob! This video helped me alot cause I'm dyslexic and have a difficult time learning somethings and end up getting really frustrated. Not with your videos tho. No problems at all from start to finish.
Mission accomplished bro! And if you ever have questions for me regarding production or anything like that, don't hesitate to message me bro!
