    I was so impressed with your fishing yoyo videos, I bought a few and I have been killing the catfish with them. There are nights I catch more on the yoyo than poles. Great videos man. Keep them coming.

    The fish looks a lot like our White cats here in Mississippi. I'll have to pay close attention and compare the two fish next time I go out. Most of the White cats I catch are between 2-5lbs.

    idk where your fishing at exactly... this is the first video i've seen but that is a crazy looking blue channel catfish.. it almost looks more like a white catfish (sounds weird right) but where i'm from Virginia they do have white catfish they dont get very big and all but that is one CLEAN looking blue cat if thats what it is

    • @muddyrivercatfishing

    I get the cheap "small" shrimp in Walmart.
    I need to check if they have them "in the shell." I think that might make more sense mechanically for staying on my hook. I'm pretty sure the cats won't mind. :^)

    Hi - I know nothing about fishing! Questions -
    1. Are all YoYo's the same weight in terms of fish size?
    2. Do fish like dried fish as bait? (i.e. dried shrimp)
    3. Is there a best, "onse size fits all" reel / hook / bait combination that would give you the best chance of catching edible fish in a survival situation throughout all the Americas, North and South?
    Thanks!

    forgive me but I thought circle hooks were made so you don't have to set the hook?...wouldn't you get the same result with just tying a line to the branch you used?

    • @muddyrivercatfishing
      @muddyrivercatfishing  9 років тому +6

      +Gabriel Briseno the yo-yo doesn't set the hook like a fishing rod does. It's nowhere near as strong. Think of it like sweeping your rod to set a circle hook. Once hooked, the yoyo allows the fish to pull on the line and not jerk the hook out of its mouth like it could if the line were tied directly to the branch.

    • @samives5929

      Getting stung by a catfish/bullhead is a myth. However, they can drive sharp fins into your hands. So it's more like getting horned. Also their whiskers can't sting ya hehe.

    I love these reels, we own a small dock and we set a few of these up every morning and by the time we come home from work we always have at least a catfish or two on the line. They are made in USA and wont rust either. cheapest place to get them is @ amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ASP3YZK/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00ASP3YZK&linkCode=as2&tag=electrandmo0a-20&linkId=CJN4R4WZNS22ETM6

    • @mkaajaaguilar1364
      @mkaajaaguilar1364 10 років тому +2

      No, its unicorn hunting. Of course it is fishing, there is a fish at the end of the line, correct. And it doesn't have to be for fun, fish is food. Some people might need it in a survival situation.

    • @raym7673
      @raym7673 9 років тому +3

      The first fishermen used nets and traps. So if you think "real" fishing is having some expensive graphite or fiberglass rod then you are sadly mistaken. ''Real" fishing is anything that someone does to catch a "real" fish. You would think that would just be common sense but this is the internet.

  • @ianwhite5739
    @ianwhite5739 8 років тому

    I can filet 20 catfish in the time you filet 1. It seems that if you caught 20, it would take you nearly 3 hours to clean them all. too much time.

    • @muddyrivercatfishing
      @muddyrivercatfishing  8 років тому

      +Ian White It takes a lot more time when you're showing someone how to do it in front of a camera.

    • @13tucker45
      @13tucker45 8 років тому

      +muddyrivercatfishing I would imagine, from all of your videos of catching catfish, you've probably got a better handle on it than the average fisherman

    • @ianwhite5739
      @ianwhite5739 8 років тому

      +muddyrivercatfishing I understand that it takes longer when showing someone. I'm referring to the technique that you are using. It is overly complex and there are too many steps. All you need to do is cut from the head back along the backbone and around the ribs. Don't cut through the end, flip and use the knife to filet the skin off. flip and do the same on the other side.
