  • In this rare video release--recorded live by students at Ken Wilber's Integral Institute Life Practice workshop in February 2005--David Deida goes deep into the meaning of sexuality as a living art. The question is not just, how do I have better sex? David teaches sexuality as a radical expression of your deepest consciousness and bliss--as an art-form like the work of Picasso, combined with the spiritual realization demonstrated by beings such as Ramana Maharshi.

I'am 34 turning 35 this year and I can't help but just imagine how amazing David Deida would be as a friend or a mentor who you could just talk to or hang out with back when he recorded this. I love David so much. I am truly blessed to be here and to actually understand what he is saying and teaching. It make sense to me. Well, it took me almost 6 to 7 years before I could truly understand what he is talking about. I had to listen to this video so many times througout the years to really appreciate this. Thank you for sharing and thank you for reading this. Much Love.

It is indeed amazing how much his message changes the more you understand his teachings. I’ve been a student of his work for almost 20 years now and every times I revisit his recordings and books I discover a deeper meaning of what he was actually trying to communicate to his audience. It’s a shame that his lineage didn’t end up being fully carried by anyone after he withdrew from public teachings.

We get physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual (eg "not yet measured by science" results such as intuition, compassion, appreciation, etc) from music. Even when we think we're only using it for a few purposes (exercise, relax, whatever), all benefits accrue, so a skillful practice welcomes that and leverages it.

in this video he states clearly the difference bettween (that can occur) doing something or being is some ''mode'' and thinking you are doing something else or'being'' in another state.
it s like those people we all have seen i am sure (i have been one of them, all of us could be one of ''them'') that have been deluded andfooling themselves and trying to push things, thinking they are''enlightened'' when they are not. i belive this happens a lot and it s not rare, especially nowdays with all this info and the internet access

Guys just remember Jesus Christ loves each and every one of us and that we were created by the Father, for the Father. There are kernels of wisdom in these videos but they are not Perfect, Infallible Truth. There must be a Creator of Masculine and Feminine nature. Who is He? You can know Him intimately, through Jesus, but He is the Way the Truth and the Life. No one gets to the Father, in this life or in the eternal, except through Him. May the Lord Bless with His Presence whoever reads this comment.

He comes across as very nervous and neurotic to me, with a completely distorted view of yoga and spirituality. To think that they cannot fix the 'broken parts' of an individual is compel;ete nonsense.

I can’t help but disagree with the parting of yoga and therapy. In my experience I have not been able to access either one without the other, and in essence the exclusion of either is a false dichotomy and a compulsion to identify with differentiation. At this point I don’t see any reason to exclude wisdom or understand from either school. Note when he said doing yoga with care as skill. I’d like to argue to good therapy is no different than good yoga in this respect though the content is different

    • @Uncover48

Sure, good therapy is similar to good yoga and they can coexist. but great therapy and great yoga can’t coexist. You can’t go into very deep trauma work while at the same time fully exploring the edges of your yogic practice. For deep therapy you need absolute safety and security, for ultimate toga you need to really explore the edges of your body and spirit.

I notice all the David Deida videos on here are from at least 15 years ago. Maybe his reputation has dimmed since then or maybe he's worried a 60-year old man spouting weird sex stuff would be over the top even for him.

Hard to say, did the fact that he was involved with Adi Da hurt him (speaking of enlightened beings who might need therapy or have fucked up relationship to sex haha), or his Graduate Alex Vartman fucking up on a massive scale.., or perhaps he's just working internally with the Daists now
