I think your parry idea is really good--helps to make parrying kind of high risk high reward that actually requires timing/skill
you mean the idea about not being able to hold block?
@@RasmusLeonid well yeah just the fact that it requires two steps, so I guess not exactly high risk high reward but still harder to do than just hold block and swing occasionally

If you are gonna add hero abilities then please add 1 ability to every hero that is charged up like Anakins retribution. For example for Zeus something like a lot of lightning or for Poseidon maybe a big wave or something.

ayyy scriptable objects for abilities. I feel like i dropped that tip in a comment of an earlier devlog. I was actually working on a bf2 dueling game as well when you released your first devlog. On the subject of parry i honestly think the parry "feature" in bf2 is lightning in a bottle. It feels so satisfying to time it that I invested all efforts to perfectly replicate the bug. To tackle constant block parties, I considered similar solutions to you. The thing I finally landed on was a posture system just like sekiro.
Its super similar to bf2 stamina system but imagine blocking consumes WAY more stamina than attacking and/or successful deflecting. Deflecting & parries will never fully exhaust your stamina/posture but blocking and combo attacks will. And just like bf2, when stamina/posture is exhausted you can't attack or block. Let me know what you think.
think you told me to use scriptable objects for character stats yeah. I Used them way too little back then haha. When it comes to combat and parry system, I'm not even sure what I really want.
I think in the end I'll probably spend a lot more time working on it, trying out different things, getting other ideas until I finally(hopefully) end up with a really satisfying and good combat and parry system. I think I'll also try to look more into other similar games. Thanks for the hint again :)
@@RasmusLeonid I'm in for the ride. I archived this project for myself because I think this type of game needs a strong IP to keep people hooked. Star wars is a strong IP. Greek Gods is also a strong IP so you're doing really well in my opinion.

@Reysious, I know the game is in its early stages. However, it would be really amazing if you can add ranged weaponry like bows and arrows or even throwable spears. Also, good work on the game given that you made so much progress in like 2 months.

Was thinking about adding a bow for Characters like Apollo (when I add them), and maybe adding the ability to deflect arrows(maybe even send them right back).
I also thought about adding abilities that let your character throw it's weapon and let the weapon return to them afterwards. Like for instance for Poseidon's Trident.
There are just endless possibilities for this type of game, and it's making me really hyped haha

Have you considered a For Honor approach? it has blocks and parries but combats turtling with feints and unblockables
I honestly don't know yet, I'm currently kinda just thinking of and trying different things, and will probably be doing that until I end up with something I'm happy with
Amazing work, my guy! About the combat rework, could it be that two players could hypothetically keep parrying against each other until one of them runs out of 'stamina'?
That really depends on how I end up doing the combat system, rn I think it could technically be possible, but hard to time
