Importance of shutter speed in timelapse photography

  • Comparison of two timelapse clips with the same interval, but with long and short shutter speeds.
    1. video: 1/2 second shutter speed, 1 second interval
    2. video: 1/160 second shutter speed, 1 second interval
    You can clearly see how the one with long shutter speed looks more natural, smoothly flowing.
    Whereas the timelapse with a very short shutter speed looks jumping, jittery.

    Great example. I believe the video text is mislabeled. Both read half second exposure and 1 second interval.

      Oh dear, thanks for noticing it, I haven't seen it! :) But you're right, the second label is not correct (it wasn't half second shutter speed, but faster).
