For me, rest is a state of mind. I have chronic anxiety, and sometimes the only thing that helps during an attack is doing something that helps me get into that "restful" mental state. The most common thing I find myself doing is cleaning. Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing. It gets me in this more meditative state where I'm just focused on that task, and not on whatever nonsense is going on in my head.

I solute this lady for shouting out the voiceless, around 22:00 she gives examples of supermarket workers and people in prison around 23:00. I takes the right type of mind for these examples to come to mind.
It's wonderful that these lectures are made publicly available given the circumstances, and I appreciate all the efforts that go into making them. But would it not be possible to provide the lecturers with a better microphone and camera?
Energy conservation is as vital as energetic activity. Maybe even more. An old folk saying here went something like: Rushing is the devils work. :) I do my best to maintain the ancient traditions of relaxing, doing things slowly and generally chilling out.
My summary: rest is something done by ppl on their own even the most extroverted ones don't consider socializing as one of the top 10 things they consider restful from a poll: 10 mindfulness and meditation 9 watching TV 8 daydreaming 7 having a hot bath 6 a walk 5 doing nothing in particular 4 listening to music 3 being alone 2 spending time in nature 1 reading a way to rest before bed is to make a to do list find your particular 2-3 activities that are restful and do them for 15 min per day somehow for the sake of your mental health for ppl who are really busy , re-frame wasted time as rest you don't have to be in the flow state to rest flow state and rest have one thing in common is that they stop the thoughts procrastination may be because you are scared to fail at something ppl who score high in perfectionism tend to procrastinate more as they are afraid to get started and fail at the thing or not do it as well they liked to ppl might procrastinate as it is hard to focus
actually healthy indigenous folk living with healthy culture and environment of homelands sleep together like puppies... We are animals and if we are grown up with people who love snuggling up, that's what's restful. .. whether its sleeping or resting.
I used to hate breaks in school because it just meant it took more time out of my day overall. Fewer breaks would have meant getting home earlier, and getting free time to myself sooner on any given day. Nowadays, if I have to work a certain number of hours, I'm happy to just pull through in one go and be done with it. If I have to get a project done, in no matter how much time it'll take, I take breaks so I'll be more effective overall. So I've come to the conclusion that breaks are good for people who work goal-oriented, such as craftspeople, and annoying for those who just want to get the time at work over with because they have to put the time in, e.g. cashiers and some such.
It would be so cool if brilliant talks as such could be published as podcasts. The last update from RI was in march 2020, would it be possible to put these new ones there ?
I find watching this video tiring. There is too much information and not enough practicality. But then who would buy the book, if she told us all that we needed to know?

I find that a good microphone is very important. She sounds fine here though. Also pretty sure the speakers are using their own hardware.
