    There is a ramp available for the Nelson Raintrain that you place towards the end of the run in the hose. When the tractor Ramos up in the ramp it switches a valve switch off on the bottom of the sprinkler and shuts the sprinkler off until you shut the faucet off. I’m certain that the ramps are available through Nelson or Orbit websites as both use the same ramp though different in different corporate colors.

      I used to use those but now i put such a long hose on it that it takes many hours and we just keep pulling it through to do the whole lawn if possible.

    At first when you said "traveling sprinkler" I thought you meant it was small enough to be portable and travel with you on the road. Didn't think it was moving itself! 😄

      We have had these for so many years and I have actually rebuilt them because we wore them out and I have another video on here on my channel about rebuilding them for very little money

    I have a long section of feild for a back yard, and didnt want to install sprinklers, but I didnt know if it was possible to have a nice lawn with portable sprinklers only, your yard is beautiful and now im excited to get started. Whats the climate where you live, and do you spend much on your water bill?

    • @northwoodsdiscovery6962

      we can run three of these tractors 12 hours a day and the bill is only 60 $ extra a month for electricity on the well pump. Water is free in the country.
      Thanks so much for watching.

    Okay. 3k subs so I’m going to sub for just that reason (besides the great content. ). Good luck getting to 10k. I’m right behind you.

    I love those tripod sprinklers, but i remove the impact head and replace it with a Hunter PGP pop up head.

      @@northwoodsdiscovery6962 unfortunately the Hunter head change wont work on the tractor because the spinning turret is what drives the motion gears. :(

    So which of the two do you prefer for your large yard? Which is more practical?

    • @northwoodsdiscovery6962
      @northwoodsdiscovery6962  5 місяців тому

      I personally like the tripod because I can control it and the length that it waters on one spot.
      My wife loves the tractors because we set three down at the road and they travel all the way to the house with no watching or working at it.

    Do you have a well? I’m afraid of killing my 700 foot deep (read expensive to replace) well pump if I irrigate the lawn daily.

    • @northwoodsdiscovery6962

      I have a well . when i run all three tractors at the same time for 24 hrs. it is about 21000 gallons. my well is 210 ft deep. we had it put in 22 years ago.

    The gearboxes break on those Nelson tractors.

      We’re had ours for 21 summers now. We absolutely love them. Set and forget them for about 8-10 hrs. Yes the heat boxes go bad but we’ve only replaced them once in 21 years. Thanks for watching

    • @Kiwi-ot3wz
      @Kiwi-ot3wz Місяць тому +3

      Always put it in neutral before picking it up. The forces being exerted on the gears when people move them or put them away are whats breaking them. Place it where you want to start watering and engage the gear last.
