im getting ready to perform a side job, as a ford tech this is very helpful. i appreciate the in depth detail not just for learning purposes but for simple direction.
Glad to help. I have run into this issue several times on the newer Jeeps. Luckily the job isn't too bad to handle and at least you don't have to shampoo the engine like the newer ford ecoboost timing covers and oil pans.
Chad I have to ask if you, PJ, and Mario all got together and decided to overwhelm me with Chrysler products. I just saw more Jeeps than I do in a month. All kidding aside, great video. Concise and to the point with proof of repair. Can't ask for anything more than that. Keep up the good work.
We held a secret meeting last week to discuss it. Did you miss the invite? Jk I think that one Jeep has Chryslered me out for a while even if they are useful for diagnostic videos.
how do you disconnect the fuel injectors? I'm trying to change the oil filter housing unit on a 2014 jeep grand cherokee 3.6L and for the life of me, the injector connections are not coming off. I'm wondering if I'm missing something, not seeing an important detail. Please help, thanks.
"SEEMS" straight forward but what precautions and post procedures for the FUEL clean up. Were there any concerns. Will the fuel stop after a little spillage?
Good video! But would of loved close up of you doing your work. Could help people a lot! Including myself. Already replaced my spark plugs, gotta do my injector next.
Exactly!!! I had a few glitches with the usb cable today so I’m going to order a premium usb cable and see if it helps. Might also be my old worn out laptop. I’m about to replace it also. Thanks for stopping by.
@@ThePracticalMechanic - I had a USB cable problem with mine but was lucky enough to see the Pico guys at a trade show here in the UK and they gave me a new blue USB cable for free. 😆
Hey, thank you for this video, I'm just clarifying some info on the injectors .. My wife's KL Trailhawk is throwing a Cylinder 2 miss fire and injector problem. I'm do well with tools, so I can definitely replace everything needed to try and fix the problem. My question to you is, how easy is it to get that fuel rail off, as well as getting the injector out, and reinstalling the new one ? Is it as simple as sliding out the rail and injector, and then sliding the new injector in and reinstalling the fuel rail ? Thank you!
Thanks for your help. It was easiest to unbolt the fuel rail, then pull the injector out. After that i had to spray a small amount of wd40 on the red clip. To pull it without breaking. Then release the injector from the clip. Make sure your hands are clean when dealing with injectors. A small amount of grease on the rubber gaskets before you put them back in.
I live in Miami Florida do you have anybody you can recommend that’s knowledgeable like you and has a computer have the same issue with my jeep grand Cherokee just replaced all six fuel injectors, and it’s running rich
Thank you for the run through! 2013 JK Question, Misfire on 3 still. Going to do the injector however, we have oil in the intake and go through 1/2qt or so per tank of gas depending on city or highway. We can’t seem to get an answer on what it is from shops. New coil packs and plugs. Could the oil be due to a bad injector somehow? Thanks!
I'm a mercedes tech doing a side job. Im gonna replace all 6 injectors at once with new plugs. Are the injectors plug and play? Cause for benz i have to type in the each code.
Greg Bikevinyl it might be possible to sneak that injector out of there without removing the intake but it may be more work in the end. The upper intake manifold can be removed fairly quickly and in most cases the gaskets can be reused.
Wow, another video that doesn’t show you how to disconnect electrical from the fuel injection. It must be some stupid trade secret that no one will share.
It is a trade secret and the Italians (FCA) will likely come after anyone revealing trade secrets. I’d offer a refund but the information was free. Honestly it’s something that we deal with day in and day out and releasing the safety clip becomes normal. I don’t have one of those vehicles available but I would assume there is a red safety tab that needs to be slid up away from the injector 1-2mm. Then you can press the tab to unlatch it from the injector. If it’s a POS connector from a POS company it may not release without using a pick to lift the latch from the bottom side of the connector. Mike, I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and spread more cheer than despair.

You will have to unbolt it from the engine and the injector may have a clip holing in to the rail
@@ThePracticalMechanic how do I unplug the injector harness from the injector? There’s a red plastic piece. Push or pull? Thanks for the video
@@w1923 you have to pull on the red clip first and then press down on the release button

What jeep is this? My grand has the engine the other way. Like to replace or service all the fuel injectors.
Did you release fuel pressure and disconnect the fuel line at the fuel rail, or not?
Which prong on connector is the hot one? The one closest to clip or furthest away?

whats the update? My lady and I are dealing with the same continuous misfire; Also new plugs / ignition pack. Injector(s) are next.
That sounds like a bad pcv valve issue
Check your oil housing unit they are known to leak after over 40 oil changes
How do you re-pressurize the fuel rail?

No coding required on these
same like M272 fuel injectors , unlike M274
What Jeep model is this?
Cherokee- KL
Do you need to remove the UIM to remove the rear #1 injector ?

@@ThePracticalMechanic Thanks , by ( sneaking it in there ) I'm guessing you don't have access to the fuel rail bolts ?
What about the fuel spillage? Any tips on how to clean it up before reassembly to prevent fire risk?
Before taking anything apart...pull the fuel pump fuse start the car and let it run dry...should drain the line.
