    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time [1991] Arcade vs SNES (Version Comparison)
    All video footage played, recorded and edited by Games Version Comparison
    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, released as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: Turtles in Time in Europe, is a beat 'em up arcade video game produced by Konami and released in 1991. A sequel to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, it is a scrolling beat 'em up type game based mainly on the 1987 TMNT animated series. Originally an arcade game, Turtles in Time was ported to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992 under the title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, continuing the numbering from the earlier Turtles games released on the original NES. That same year, a game that borrowed many elements, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist, was released for the Sega Genesis.

    I remember back in the day being absolutely ecstatic about the SNES turtles in time. It was as close to having the real arcade we ever were going to get. Fantastic port of the game that still hold up extremely well today.

    Due to technical limitations compared to the arcade the SNES version gave it's own spin to certain scenes but overal stands out better in terms of levels, sounddesign and soundtrack, details and above all gameplay. They pushed that SNES to the max! Even Schredders Revenge 2022 has a hard time trying to dethrone this game.

      I have to disagree. Street Fighter Alpha 2 is the game that pushed the SNES to its max. This game comes close but I imagine the developers held back to avoid slowdown. I still find the soundtrack to be much better in the arcade version. Even some of the tracks in The Hyperstone Heist are a bit better. Gameplay wise, I would say that the SNES version is better only because the player has full control on when to slam or throw an enemy, even though the slamming makes the game a bit too easy. Finally, I don't think that Shredder's Revenge had a hard time dethroning Turtles in Time. I tend to go back and play SR far more than I do with Turtles in Time now thanks to the 6-player co-op, more episodes (stages), graphics, online mode and customizable arcade mode.

      And the music for shredder's revenge is nowhere near as good as turtles in time was

      As good as the home conversion of turtles in time is, I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree. The only thing that the SNES version has over the arcade version are the extra stages. That's it.

      @@jordanbyrd9821 In terms of 4-player co-op, graphics and music, yes. But overall the SNES version edges it out with being able to slam and throw enemies at will, a new stage and boss, bosses that make more sense at their locations, better sound when attacking enemies, options to change auto or manual running, turn back attacks on or off and selecting animated or comic book sprites. The only negatives I see for the SNES game is the lack of 4-player co-op since the game was released before the multi-tap, and that the enemy slamming makes the game a bit too easy. Something that even the arcade version, The Hyperstone Heist and Shredder's Revenge do more fairly.

    For the Arcade version, you could use the 2 players version in order to match the SNES Character Selection.

    You did not record the real ending of the SNES version as seen when you beat the "hard" difficulty level. It is almost exactly the same as in the arcade version. Statue of Liberty is brought back via blimp and April reports. Then you see credits with the turtles on the blimp. However, there is also a sequence in which all enemies are introduced by their names. So the SNES ending is longer.

    • @Victory-in-YAHUSHA
      @Victory-in-YAHUSHA Рік тому +2

      If the uploader had been playing the Japanese version, any difficulty would grant the credits ending, but the character cast sequence is still exclusive to hard mode.

    Man I was surprised to see those differences.
    The timing on very hit was different.
    But I was most impressed on the prehistoric C men boss
    I was expecting slash with my friends 😂

    The Arcade easily has the better visual presentation. Aside from the music which got really pumped up in the SNES version, it would have the better sound as well. SNES has tighter controls, but I believe the Arcade actually technically has more moves (albeit some that you have less control over). And clearly, putting in more stages and bosses didn’t hurt the SNES version. And I think I prefer the Mode 7 version of Neon Night Riders. I think I prefer the last boss in the Arcade version, but that might be because of the novelty of it. The SNES boss was reused in Hyperstone Heist, but there was never a repeat of the boss like the Arcade version
    Too bad we can’t have a version that combines all of the exclusive stuff together into a “definitive” version of the game

    • @noctilucent7396

      I've boiled it down to this, the arcade origional version is the best turtles game of all time, now onto turtles in time, alone or with a friend snes version, if with 3 friends arcade version. I think snes wins in the overall category. But arcade wins in the have a group of friends over category with better graphics

    • @bradenhogan2
      @bradenhogan2 Рік тому +6

      @@noctilucent7396 I’ve seen people say that the original arcade is the best before, but doesn’t make sense to me. Turtles in Time improved on it in every (or at least nearly every) conceivable way.
      Examples:
      •Much more variety in the gameplay/move list
      •Much improved graphics that look even more like the cartoon
      •More memorable/iconic music
      •More voice clips and humor, giving the game more character
      •Faster pace
      •More enemy variety
      •More location variety, again giving the game more character
      •Cutscenes ramped up
      The original Arcade is great, but Turtles in Time is easily an improvement. There are really only 3 reasons I can think of why someone might have a soft spot for the original over Turtles in Time:
      1. No Bebop or Rocksteady (which was rectified for the SNES version)
      2. No Technodrome Stage other than the boss (which was rectified for the SNES version)
      3. You happened to play the original more and are more nostalgic for it
      I have a soft spot for the Turtles in Time Arcade over against the SNES version, but I still admit that the SNES version is objectively superior, given how minor the compromises were compared to how major the improvements were

      @@bradenhogan2 I agree on what you said here. I never liked super shredder. Old fashioned shredder with a katana aggressive thrash metal music and mutagen ray 👌 also granitor and general kraag icing on the cake on the original. Such a perfect game it's not missing anything and it's 4 player, unlike having to choose the half that you prefer on TIT snes or arcade, the original brings it all and its older version of turtles before super shredder etc

    • @bradenhogan2
      @bradenhogan2 Рік тому

      @@noctilucent7396 I guess I consider the final boss to be a small enough part of the game that I don’t consider that a major factor when judging them against each other. Plus, I’d be disappointed if it were simply the same boss over again. Having it be Super Shredder makes it a feel like the stakes are raised. On a similar note, I wouldn’t have wanted just all repeats of the other bosses from the last game, too. It’s cool that we get Baxter the Fly, Metalhead, and Leatherhead. Also, I was never quite sure if the Arcade version of TIT is supposed to be Super Shredder. Obviously he’s way out of proportion with the Turtles, but the model isn’t a Super Shredder model
