  • Learn how you can take advantage of other drivers on the roundabout to help you enter safely and efficiently. Sometimes blockers will prevent other cars from proceeding and this inadvertently gives you a chance to show good progress at a busy roundabout. In this video I will explain what a blocker is and how you can be aware of them.

    Thanks so much Dane, did my test in Portlaoise on Monday and passed. There are so many mini roundabouts there, and one point where it's one mini-roundabout immediately followed by another. It can get very confusing in between the two because there is no time to prepare for the second one. Also with a mini roundabout I think because cars don't properly go around the painted circle, sometimes it feels very different to a bigger roundabout (more difficult in my opinion). Thanks for everything

    Dane, thanks for all your videos, they’re amazing!
    I have a question about common roundabouts, during the test, do they need to tell us for example, if the second exit is straight ahead or to the right? Sometimes I get confused about it. Thanks a million.

    Hi @Dane Tyghe just wondering about roundabouts on 2nd exit going straight while staying on the left side, should i check the right wing mirror and glance to the side before turning off?

  • @alanodonnell4788
    @alanodonnell4788 13 днів тому

    I know I really need to know how to use my mirrors more. If someone is behind me when I'm at the roundabout? And to watch out for people coming from the right and left to? There the hard parts.

    Hi Dane,
    Can you enter the roundabout when its clear that the car in the roundabout is exiting on the road you are coming from even though he is not indicating but you can tell by the position of the car and wheels that they are exiting?

    if there's only 2 exit, for eg dunkette roundabout in cork, which lane needs to stay before entering the roundabout ?

    just wondering how you would know that the blocker is leaving and not actually going all around?

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  Рік тому +1

      You can never be fully sure but at the mini roundabout it would be very unlikely that they would be doing a u turn.

    Hi Dayne, what speed will the examiner expect you to do going through a roundabout,between 25-27 ? Im guessing above 27 is too fast as it’s supposed to be gear 2

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  Рік тому

      Depends on the roundabout as they are all different shapes and sizes, it's not like I can give you a one size fits all answer.

    Dan. If i go to exit the 3rd road after 12 o clock on a big roundabout with 2 exit lanes, my instructor said to cross into the left lane even as I exit the roundabout, if safe to do. Does that sound right?

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  Рік тому +1

      Sounds right to me, how else are you going to exit the roundabout?

      @@DaneTygheletsdrive just confused as it involves a manoeuvre not seen on regular roundabout. This one joins a dual carriageway, so 2 lanes

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive
      @DaneTygheletsdrive  Рік тому

      I'm not sure what specific situation you are referring to but aim to exit in the left lane if possible

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive

      That will depend on how close they are and how fast they are going, it's going to depend on the situation

      @@DaneTygheletsdrive Thanks! Perhaps I'll wait. It's often better to make progress in Grade 2 rather than Grade 3.

    • @DaneTygheletsdrive

      My advice is to judge each situation individually because you can't apply a simple one size fits all answer to such a broad question.
