So after the original point of failure the monitor started to display the lb/s as decreasing(-lb/s). Was that the press itself letting off and preventing further failure?

The maximum applied stress was about 19,000 psi to a 4 by 8 inch cylinder. This particular machine applies load by controlling the displacement. After reaching maximum load capacity, specimen, because of steel fibers, still had some capacity and that is why you saw decreasing load.
Most common way of testing concrete cylinder is using load control. Under load control machine tries to apply a load and if specimen fails, the failure will usually coincide with loud noise. In the case of UHPC because of steel fiber even under load control the failure does not appear as brittle as normal concrete case.

Almost 20,000! I wouldn’t want to be standing around that lol. Thanks for sharing this. I’m a carpenter and I want to experiment with some of my own projects in the future. Been down the YT rabit hole looking at aircrete and domes and found you on IG. I wonder if this could be crossed with something like aircrete and use fiberglass fibres and still achieve higher strengths (albeit not as strong) with lower cost. Cheers!
