Hi as a vegetarian I struggled with the hunting aspect, however I realised that this was about providing for ur family as opposed to just doing it for fun, so thank for enlightening me
I was raised in a hunting and fishing family until my dad passed away when I was 13. Only for us it was deer, elk, pheasant, duck, turkey, trout and bass. My dad made sure we all were involved and as we got older, we had to take hunters safety classes. When my mom remarried, my step father had no interest in hunting and fishing. Fortunately my grandparents continued to take us fishing and my brother hunting. My husband isn’t in to hunting or fishing, but we had two boats and I could fish. At 64, I still cherish those memories of going out with my dad.
Violet knows where the camera is and loves to smile at all her fans! My dad hunted in his early years. It’s what you did to provide during the depression and war years. Nothing wrong with understanding firearms and their safety
Oh my gosh....LOVE everything...AND...everyone....I learned soo much...Just the BEST being here with you and your family....This IS my 'happy' place...Thank you so so much for all you put into each video..and for enjoying having us here. The BEST...xoxo
12:18 "did you finally find a place to sit down?" Lauren to luna "yes I did" so cute. Thank you Lauren you answered my question from yesterday's video and today's about can you Hunt a moose on your property in Alaska no you can't, thank you for that. Baby Violet is just Adorable. Your Boy's are going to break alot of hearts and dear Violet with those big brothers will be so safe in her teenage years. "Maggie is Alway's watching over you all from Heaven remember that. Alaska is so Beautiful, Thank you so much for these wonderful video's letting us walk a day in your shoes. Hug's from Australia. Ps: please tell your dad the prices of groceries and Bill's here in the state of Victoria in Australia and Australia are higher than Alaska now big Hug's to your dad and mum too. 🙏🦋🐞🐈🇦🇺🐨🦘
Violet is such a little love! What a blessing for your beautiful family ❤️ I liked how you did the Q/A on the video with the outdoor footage and you narrating!
Fascinating how you got to the place of happily joining in with Mark’s tradition of hunting moose, and changed your view some around it. Tiny thing, but we planted a ton of fruit trees when we were first married, like way too many, and I’m still a little annoyed at all that entails. But, all in with the good apricot years now. When they’re plenteous & ripe, they must be obeyed & canned that minute. Doesn’t matter what else is going on! It’s pleasant to have succumbed to nature, basically. 🤗
Loved this video. I love seeing your relationship with your husband begin to grow as you figured out marriage. I just love your family. So wholesome and sweet. When baking the bread in the Dutch oven. Bake with lid on first so that the bread will bake all the way through. I also pre heat Dutch oven before adding dough. The recipe I follow is 450 preheat Dutch oven with lid on for 20 minutes. Put in bread with lid. Bake for 35 minutes then remove lid and finish baking so it will brown for about 10-15 minutes. Make sure he uses pot holders.
Thank you for sharing about your experience learning the hunting lifestyle. Such a great reminder that understanding and connection are so important for families. It can be so difficult when husband/wife are not on the same page. Love your channel! Precious family ❤
I didn't grow up in a hunting family so pretty much all the information you shared was new to me! I never thought about how difficult it would be to harvest all the moose meat and then process it. That's a big job! 👍 Bennett is going to be a wonderful husband some day! He's quite the baker and he's so good with his baby sister. ❤
Your family has a great outlook on hunting…you hunt for food, not for sport, and you practice catch and release when you have harvested what you need while fishing for food. I could never imagine Mark or your boys posing with a lion killed on a safari or an eagle from the beach at your family cabin.
So enjoyed this video, thank you for taking us along on your walk and drive, absolutely stunning scenery!! Bennet is well on his way to becoming a great chef, that bread looked so good 😋 Hope Mark can score a moose for yall!
I love your videos, your precious boys and sweet Violet I love her sweet smile.Breaks my heart about your other little twin.My mama's first child died at 2 months I can't imagine what you and my mama went through. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. Keep on keeping on.May God always bless you and your precious family always ❤ - . . . - .
Love your stories about living off the land ...very interesting. Im from Canada and a city girl but my whole family are from the North . I do have a country heart i was taught how to fish and hunt and how to work the farm. I have eaten many things Moose, bear, rabbit, deer, pigtails, squirrel and the list goes on. Lol I always say you shouldn't judge a book by there over as city girls can be more interesting that you think. I think you're amazing and love all your stories you are an interesting lady. Oh by the way im 62 years old and started around when you did but still live in the city. ❤❤ 🇨🇦 Blessings from😘 Canada
Everett & Violet are so cute together!! She sure loves being with her Big Brothers too!! Everyone looks so good going to church!! Bennett is a super talented Chef!! Thanks for sharing your history of hunting & the need of it for feeding your family.
Hi Lauren, Luna, Alaska boys and little miss Violet! What a wonderful video. Very interesting about the moose regulation and harvesting etc. what a beautiful scenery. Alaska is so pretty. Loving the videos this week. Thank you for sharing! 😊hope Mark was able to get a 🫎! Looking forward to your next video!
So happy to see a video from my favorite family this morning. A welcome break from constantly monitoring the massive hurricane which is closing in on my state. I live in SE Fla so we don't appear to be in great danger but I am praying hard for our Gulf Coast where they haven't recovered from Helene. I hope your next video is processing a moose! Your kids are the beautiful, and Bennett is ready for Culinary school. Pets for Luna❤
This was such a fun video....I would have never guessed you didn't grow up outdoorsy. I just love how the boys love Violet so much. Alaska has some beautiful fall colors.
I really like how you added videos in the background and put the video of you explaining things in a little bubble (if that makes sense). I enjoyed watching both together.
I grew up in a hunting family. Grew up on elk and venison. No one in my family or extended family are trophy hunters. Neighbor raised buffalo. I grew up blessed in knowing how to live off the land.
Oh Lauren what a sweet photo of your children in their church clothes. They seem so loving to one another. My dad was a rabbit, duck, and deer hunter in Southeast Louisiana. I remember opening the ice chest and petting those poor beautiful dead animals. I never could bring myself to eat them. My mom would help him process and cook them. A few of my siblings would eat the wild game but not me. Now the seafood he would harvest I loved, except the oysters. Never could acquire a taste for them. My mom always said hunting and fishing is not cheap. I think she kinda resented him leaving her alone as well with the kids but she would make that time fun for us like you did with your kids. Hope he is successful and you can fill your freezer to feed the family. Many blessings. 🍂
Great vlog! You have plenty to occupy your time as well as do fun things! Luna is definitely your cat! She has a voice! Violet loves to see herself in the camera! Sweet!!🍁🍁🍁
The fall leaves and scenery is beautiful!! Hunting is so over my head.Sounds very hard !! Violet likes being outside, true hunting and fishing little girl !! She needs a hat , it’s getting cooler. The boys sure do love their little sister, Bennett sure is becoming quite the chef and baker!! His bread looked wonderful !! Love your sweet family !! 💙🩷💙💙💙💙🩷
Really enjoy your videos and commentary! Always cheering you all on in your family’s endeavors! Loved the x country race at KincaidPark. Grandgirls did x- country skiing there. I have a Swiss brass bell that I’d ring for them . Hearing the bell ring brought memories and smiles!
I really love your videos, especially this one! My husband lived in Alaska as a young boy and loved it! His dad was military (Air Force) so only lived there for a few years. Unfortunately, my husband passed away in 2022 but our plan for retirement was to go back and visit Alaska. So sad we never got to experience it and bring back the fun memories for my hubby.
My husband never went hunting for anything. In Oklahoma you can hunt dear or rabbit. We buy all our meat at the store most of the prices are fairly cheap we buy beef pork chicken or turkey. Loved seeing the trees when they turn orange and yellow. In Oklahoma our trees turn orange red and yellow. Thanks for telling us about moose hunting. Prayers 🙏 and Love 🤟 From Ginger.
I always enjoyed hunting and fishing. When you're out hunting whether its in a treestand, blind or on the ground under a tree. Just being in nature is so peaceful and serene even if you dont bag anything. Its a good time to collect your thoughts
😂 it's so comical that while your talking moving your hands poor Luna wanted you to pet her on the head she was all over trying to get to your hands 😅😅😅
Good morning from Ontario. Alaska looks so beautiful in the Fall. We always visited in the Summer as my husband was an avid fisherman who just loved fishing silver salmon. You are a great mom to hold the fort while Mark is hunting. Love you. from Claudette.
Have you ever seen bear in your yard? I sometimes think of that when the kids are playing outside. Bear, moose, wolves?...so many scary critters in your neck of the woods!
I'm a real city girl and you've shared so many things that are so interesting and cool !! And it's always nice to learn about people that live a life that is different from yours. That is also a cool way to get educated on several subjects. Thanks for sharing !! ❤
You did an excellent job of explaining the in’s and out’s of hunting, processing and consuming wild game!! I’m a farm girl from Northern Alberta and grew up eating wild game. My Dad loved hunting and it really helped feed his family of 9 children. ☺️ I agree that it’s really a bonding family experience, even after all of us were married if Dad got a moose whoever was available would go out and see his kill if it was accessible and help process the meat. And later my parents would go out and see the grandchildren’s animals and help them out. After my Dad passed away the Grandsons would call Grandma and tell her about their hunt and if possible go by her place to show her their kill. ❤
Lauren, I enjoyed the post a lot and your talk on moose hunting. We have hunted a lot, been married 48 years, deer and elk, we are in Oregon. So, agree that processing your own meat is the only way to go. You do a great job with the kids. Blessings dear lady.
Excellent video Lauren. The explanations along with the gorgeous day-trippin scenery makes this vid worth watching twice🥰 I actually HAD to watch twice coz my mind kept wandering to the scenery and I lost what you were saying🤣 Happy day for me🌻🐝🌈

It is all about attitude! You have a great one.
