A
The war hadn't yet started - and we were so young - so naive - so in love. We explored cities like archeologists in search of undiscovered wonders, staying up late - dancing until you said your feet were too tied to stand - drank Champagne for breakfast, sitting sidewalk at street cafes with other all-nighters, feeding cats that had waited patiently for friendly hand-outs. You were so beautiful that older men, upon seeing you wept, perhaps remembering their lost youth. You smiled at them, and waved - and once you stood and kissed a white-haired gentleman wearing a tux on the cheek, brushing away his tears, saying, "Never forget the past - it's just time reminding you of all those wonderful moments that are yours forever!" Having their morning coffee, but overhearing what you said, some ladies stood and applauded. From inside the cafe we heard the voice of Jessie Matthews singing 'Look For The Silver Lining'. Just then, an elderly waiter appeared and gave us two fresh-out- of-the-oven croissants to enjoy with our Champagne. The radio inside began playing Hutch Cole singing 'Let's fall in love.' We had, and couldn't stop looking into each others eyes...but that was so long ago...and I'm sure I've left out the best parts...but I'll never forget...and because of you...Past Perfect...maybe the music will always be there...Thank you for the memories.
If you are not a writer you must start yesterday, How perfectly you etch beautiful memories and avoid sugary sentimentality, What gifts and memories and talent you've been given
Thank you for your kindness. I am a writer.
+David Crawford what perfect description
what a perfect description u got
Thank you, Mhix.
We need music like this now more then ever.
Yes thank you for the comment.
I often think how strong our parents were during the depression and Will.
Oops You are probably young.i am 76 and this music meant so much to them
This gives me nostalgia for memories I have never carried...
Beautiful comment!
When I listen to music like this I too feel the same. Tapping into the memories of the past, was it my past perhaps in another past? Not sure but this is art in audio format
it's truly wonderful, and yes perhaps it was a past life...its fun to think about
Just reconnecting with our past lives :)
@@thecrazeecow1682 YES BABY!!!
My dad’s parents met in the early 1930’s. My Poppa Roc would every once in awhile sing “It’s Only A Paper Moon to my Nanny Rose. I thought, even as a little girl, it was the sweetest and most romantic thing I ever heard. They’re long gone but on the rare occasion I hear that song, I think of them and their enduring love.
Fun fact: the ship pictured is the SS Nieuw Amsterdam, former flagship of the Holland America Line, built in 1938. She was a beautiful liner in her day!
I wish ocean liners were still a way to travel.
They are! The Cunard Line still has their White Star Service with the Queen Mary II, which is apparently the only true oceanliner left
GREAT MEMORIES IN THIS LOT AS I WAS A YOUNG BOY IN WW2 AND REMEMBER THESE LOVELY SONGS PASSIONATELY. THANK YOU FOR PRESERVING A NICE LOT HERE, SO RELAXING.
It's great to have your feedback Bill. Enjoy your memories and be happy listening to these fabulous songs.
Aweee so nice
After all those years..... I've found you at last.... the musical genre i've always been searching for....
Vintage it is... thank you Lord for the joy of being able to liisten wiith our ears through music....now my soul feel more at peace...
Me Too! c:
I couldn’t have worded it better! What a wonderful blessing of something to behold our soul through our keen ears. What a God that could bring such a beautiful blessing: music!
Thank you. My wife died a few years ago. Thank you for such wonderful songs and tunes. It makes me remember the past like these. We went on tons of ocean liners together! Thank you so much!
I'm now in my 50's... Born in late 60's... So obviously I wasn't in "that" Era... But some how... Hearing this music takes me to a Beautiful place of Nostalgia that I've never been to... Happy Smile on my face... Yes! When I was a kid I did see many a times my Mom and Dad Fox-trot, Waltz and Jive to these songs... We had a 6 recond(vinyls) changer (mono ofcourse) (HMV) with a whole lota records 33's, 78's and 45's... Beautiful Day!!!! Was lovely to see all the old timers dancing to these song...
Oh man I MUST be getting OLD - I'M LOVING THIS MUSIC RN!!
Mom in her twenties sitting on a deck on a pile of luggage off on her way from London to Canada.."Black and White" "Brownie Box" pic. Picture perfect, soo elegant, hands crossed on her knees..knees crossed over high heels, slight see through crocheted veil dropping over the brim of her hat neatly adorned with flowers. Soft confident smile, absolutely brave adventures unknown ahead for her back in those days. Years before I was ever thought of. I'll be there with her one day soon. The utterly vibrant twenties and thirties, a brief respite from the dreadful years just past and the unthinkable Armageddon waiting for her generation in the wings. Edouard
Both of my parent were wonderful dancing partners.
They so appreciated the big bands.
Many couples met their mate at the dance halls popular during the 30s and 40s.
I just discovered this music by accident. I who have always loved this period of 1920, 30, 40 and... the Middle Ages. I am delighted to listen and let myself be carried away by these interpretations. I let myself go to my sewing and embroidery and my thoughts fly to this beautiful era of the Roaring Twenties, these "art deco" decorations, this time when there were values and respect for the well done, Thank you for us make these works available.
These beautiful renditions presented a fantasy about the way life could have been. Even though I'm too young to have lived during the 30's and 40's, I have always enjoyed this musical genre and very much appreciate Past Perfect for making these available. Thank you.
I'm 48 and I love it. My grandmother played a station in Chicago...wjjd and it played big band and jazz. I made fun of it as a kid but now when I listen I think of her and smile, realizing this music is awesome 👌
These songs make me remember The queen Mary. I was on her 2nd last voyage. What a ship. She was a wonder! I danced with my girl friend in the ball room to songs like these. Ah, The days.
Last voyage was in 1967,when was second last voyage,in which year?
Its so weird Im feeling my heart about to jump suffocating Im about to cry 😢 . Vintage songs photos and stuff makes me want to go find where I really belong
Sua Vee Lang YES YES YES
It’s like an ache- an ache for a time I have never experienced
me too!! there's this something pulling me.
I'm a different generation to you but I, too, have always loved vintage music from the first half of the 20th century and have long felt I was born into the wrong time.
A pretty dark hair young slim girl gets ready for a local dance. Softy playing in the background, the wireless ser plays tunes of the moment. Hair and make up all done , the young lady sets off on the start of the greatest adventure of her young life. Tonight , my mum meets my dad and the adventure begins only ending in death 40 years later. Thanks mum and dad.love you.,,
This transports me to another time and place. Beautiful, thank you!
So true :)
Egal was passiert auf dieser Welt.....das ist eine bleibende Erinnerung und darf niemals vergessen werden

That is real *_elegance_* as an 18 I think in the future I have to marry a woman who loves these beautiful, real music and would dance swing with me...
❤❤❤ There's no doubt I lived in this era.
"I travel alone" fits my current situation to a tee! "The happiness I've known alone." Life is so much better without companions! Life alone is so underrated! I love being on my own without having to deal with, or having to put up with, others! It truly is bliss! I've been traveling for 3 years on the road alone! Like a reverie! It is perfect! Great music, btw!
Simply outstanding. Memories, memories and memories.
Que bella música. Me traslada a un tiempo que por no haberlo vivido me parece mejor. Gracias por compartir. 😊🇪🇸
Fantastic atmosfere
Just loving these gorgeous lyrics and melodies.
COOL!🥳👍🍀🍀🍀🍒
When im listening to this song, i think im aboard RMS Queen Mary at her Maiden voyage in 1936.

Dear B, hope you are somewhere safe and happy, i love you for eternity. Wish we could be together again. Pls be happy and try to remember me when you hug your pillow during those cold winter nights and listen to this :)
God, I love this channel!
What an excellent job you did remastering these wonderful old songs. I grew up to these and it's so nice to hear them as I did as a child. Thank you so much.
Elegance, class, beauty, and of course a bit of nostalgia. Something we lack... thank you very much 💌🥀
Elegance & class & shining & her. Be kind, rewind.
Listen carefully as Noel Coward changes Johnny Mercer's lyrics to "Im Old Fashioned" at 00:42:22 to "I love cheap music, a reference to Noel's dialogue from "Private Lives.'" (“Extraordinary how potent cheap music is.”) . The original Mercer lyrics are "starry song that April sings."
14:15. I heard this song in one of the best games ever - Mafia!
So romantic 😍 feel the music 🤩 in your ❤️ of the past, so special it must of been ❤️
I think my previous life was in the 30s/40s.
That song reminds me of dancing with my sugar cup in 1984. This song was on my grandpa's birthday. One of the last times i saw my grandpa before he passed. Oh my pretty girl was exellent that night. One of the best songs.
May GOD bless you all through the years ❤️❤️ thank you very much for the sounds always truely
Beautiful and relaxing 😌😘👼🏾
I was born in the 60s and when I was growing up they played a lot of movies on tv from this era and I loved it. With some of the films/musicals, they played similar music to this and I fell in love with it all over again. This is the music I want to tap dance too. Thanks for sharing.
Vintage my kind of era 💜
THEY DON'T WRITE THEM LIKE THEY USED TO.........I LOVE THE MUSIC FROM THIS ERA..........THE TIMES WERE SAFER AND FRIENDLIER!
David Crawford To have lived in that time...I feel I really missed out. You describe it so well that I miss it also. She must have been someone really special and I envy her that she had you to remember her that way.
Great songs made by great people with heart and soul. Finnaly i got favorite You Tube channel. Great work and all best!!!
Me encanta!
It helps me write my story. Thank you.
May I ask what are you writing?
I write a romance based story but added a little action on it.
and it includes some sort of vibe like in the 90s, so this music really helps!
Best of luck. I hope it turns out great!
How very kind of you. Thank you!
Same here
Nat stands out in this selection. He was equally good as a pop singer than he was as a jazz pianist...
Simply Outstanding, a great mix.
I love all of these songs, but damn some of them are just gorgeous! I listen to this every day while I do homework; truly a wonderful collection of songs :)
Transport Tycoon Deluxe !!!

Was working in a dept. Store in Habana cuba..these songs played ALL day long..in the 40s Habana was like new York city. so class and refined..people from ALL over WORLD LIVED there to avoid war. drove dads Cadillac ALL over Habana.. nos its ALL gone..communism/socialism ruined it.. I saw OUR home built new in 40.. now in shambles as ALL the FINE homes of Habana now are
ill wait for the new heaven on earth.
soon it WILL be. TURN to Jesus..and repente sin.
Excellent
Beautiful!
Easy listening - great sounds
I like the ones that are jazz oriented. Especially "And so do I" by Elizabeth Welch and "I wished on the moon", by Ruth Etting. It is not nostalgia with me - not that there's anything wrong with it - it's just the music. It's good music. I love hearing songs I've never heard before done by people I've heard of, also songs I've heard done by people I've never heard of. One Past Perfect album has "Deep in a Dream" with Greta Keller. In all these years I have heard only one version of that song. By Chet Baker. I even developed a liking for Hutch. He sings some songs I have never heard before, and I've heard my share. I enjoy these compilations and again thank you for putting them together with thoughtfulness.
It's honestly taken over one million pounds of investment in time spent by the best sound engineers and equipment, to produce the Past Perfect collection of albums ... along with the maniacal drive and perfectionism of our MD and engineers! It's so very rewarding to receive comments like yours, thank you.
Wonderful, thankyou 1000 times
Прекрасные оранжировки всех нам известных мелодий и хитов
SUPERB LIST
Very nice my friend.
I've been going through the various albums you have here and it's something I've been looking for for ages and never found until now. Just the feeling and atmosphere of the 20s and 30s and even 40s, even though the forties was halted by the war. It's marvellous and I don't know how to thank you enough. I wondered if it was only me who loved this era and the music which represents it so well. I'm working my way through the whole lot.
Is there existing a line of cds etc., that you sell through commercial outlets, under the ame of Past Perfect that I can ask for? Or is this your main outlet?
www.pastperfect.com
I adore this era. I have friends round for dinner, set a beautiful table, candles, lovely place settings and play music like this. My house is art deco themed. I just love everything about the period. Glamour, finesse, elegance and an ability to live in the moment.
@kbrigsby61 I would be delighted to invite you for a candlelit soiree. Dress smart...none of this tracksuit and trainers malarkey that people now think is acceptable dinner attire. We shall drink wine from crystal glasses 🥰
@@acechadwick We never got around to it, did we? What a shame, but we can think about it, can't we? PS: I don't do trackie daks and trainers. I'm past all that. I love wine from the best crystal no plastic stuff for me, it doesn't taste the same.
this is so nice..love the collection!
Truly beautiful!!!
Well done, thanks!!
It is so wonderful!
Just fabulous - I bought both of Christine Norden's songs "When You Smile (at Me)" and "I'm Not in Love" - absolutely love these !! Thank you !! Would be nice if I could find the lyrics and charts for these - any help would be grand.
