Back when apocalypse templates were a thing I played in a tournament where they were banned in the rule pack
One of the TO’s played in the tournament and he also brought 3 khorne chariots which if fired together shot an apocalypse blast
He said it was ok because they weren’t “armed with it” and the rule pack specified that models couldn’t be armed with it.
His first opponent quit on turn 1 of round 1 because he didn’t want to play in a tournament run like that so the TO didn’t get to play either!
