    After the lil back n forth we had the other week.. I chose the Unlimited over the Flux.. mate, just knocked out my first piece with it this morning.. standard angel statue portrait style..
    With the edge X and Xion.. the piece would usually of been 5hr.. I'd never used the Unlimited b4 today.. I finished tbe piece in 3.5hrs.. and it is SMOOTH and unbelievably crisp..
    The moonshine is SO SMOOTH, but loses no power.. at all.. even my (returning) client said it feels like its gliding, less traumatic in the latter hours of the piece.
    I completely understand ur excitement about thus machine.. I punched a 25mag for the ghost shading.. it didnt struggle at all.. I see what you mean about the kick start with diff needle brands.. like it reads the weaker membranes and compensates in whatever way it needs to for consistency etc etc
    It is an absolute game changer for the kinda work I mainly do (B&G) but i can sense this will be amazing for colour work.. literally one pass and i had solid even shades of black, through to light grey.. and it's beautiful to shade with.. I actually REALLY enjoyed using it..
    I know this is gonna sound mad.. but I may as well of been using a fine liber and soft shade pencils on paper.. it literally hits that nice.
    Minimal vibration.. no aching hand..
    I have no complaints.. just admiration
    Game changer
    Thanks for your review and responses 😉

    Thanks for the review bro. Excellent information as always! I share the same love for this machine. I'd like to add that painfulpleasures accepted the 15% off discount that they always have. So it came to 800$ and some change. Also nuclear supply carries a really nice disposable grip that fits amazing on this machine. Also got the larger pen sleeves in black from kwadron that fit like a glove. Not trying to name drop or promote, just happens to be the perfect combination for me and imo. Thanks again bro for a spot on review.

    So.. anyone tried the FLUX yet.. my question..
    I've never used Cheyenne.. so no experience..
    Have used Spectra Edge (very happy/consistent/no repairs needed in 3yr.. still in original motor) .. I have a Xion, which is great for shading, but after dropping ONCE needed a new motor, which they auctioned pretty quick and only £90. No issues apart from that..
    However.. like look of Nova.. just unsure whether to stick with Spectra or try Sol Nova.. wanna go wireless..
    Obv these new machines are a £1000.. so, whilst return is quick, as we know.. couple tattoos etc, paid for.. but, I'm also not about wasting money..
    Which is the better option???

    • @tattootheory
      @tattootheory  4 роки тому +4

      Dan Stimson the Flux is a simple direct drive machine that uses a brushless maxon motor it does not have any responsive mode option or steady mode option like the sol nova unlimited does. My other issue with the flux is that if your battery pack fails and you don’t have another one you will have to spend over a hundred bucks to get a new power pack for the flux or send yours in for repair if there is no power packs in stock then you are pretty much screwed. The unlimited uses a 6 dollar 18500 lithium ion battery that can be purchased on amazon or eBay or any vape supply company anywhere in the world if the battery fails you can buy ten more and have nothing to worry about. Cheyenne also now does repairs quickly and now offers a two year warranty on all machines. If a motor breaks they fix it. What people don’t understand is that all rotary machines break if mistreated or dropped as well as things happen I have had many machines from many good manufacturers break. These are not coil machines that can last forever. All in all it is your choice my friend and your money. If you like fk irons then stick with them but if you want to try a machine that will elevate your tattooing to another level then buy an unlimited. You won’t regret it.

    • @djs9315
      @djs9315 4 роки тому +2

      @vision knite.. thanks my friend.. the exact reason you gave above, practicality wise, is what is seeing me lean toward the nova..
      If the flux battery fails.. then its drama.. and as we know.. with new shiny things.. it takes a while before the shortfalls are exposed.. it's a battery ultimately.. they can fail.. rendering the rest of it useless.. flash Ferrari, lovely.. no petrol/no power = beautiful looking useless.
      I'm also inspired by the new responsive setting.. that works out the give required.. intelligent give.. and an ability to recall your habits/speed/pressure etc.
      Anything that saves me time I'm up for. As a tattooist we know the daily stresses are obv some clients.. 🤣 but air pods take care of most of that.. 🤫!! But I find it's the lil daily things that see my stress levels affected slightly.. wires, undoing machines (xion) to address give button requirements.. seemingly trivial.. but affect my concentration and flow
      So.. the Sol Nova unlimited it is on this new dawn of wireless 😊👍
      Thanks for your independent review. Very thorough and helpful

  • @stressthemindLOTL
    @stressthemindLOTL 4 роки тому +1

    Does the machine have some sort of prevention from stopping dirty cartridge stems from contaminating inside the machine so after one use it contaminates every future customer? Yes I know cartridges have membranes, I’m talking about the actual cartridge stem getting something on it at your workstation or touching it with dirty gloves accidentally, wrapping the machine won’t stop that so I hope Cheyenne thought of that for $1,000 pen

    The only thing still keeping me from buying it is the voltage adjustment. Doesn’t it feel like super awkward? also, how long does the battery last on permanent use?

    • @tattootheory
      @tattootheory  4 роки тому

      The voltage adjustment is very easy and very intuitive hold down the button and go to an angle simple as that. For the way I tattoo I have never relied on knowing what voltage I am at I just go by feel and power and if I feel the machine needs more or less power then I adjust. The battery lasts 5 hours straight if you where running at a continuous 12 volts. I’ve had 1 last up to 10 hours and the fact these batteries can be purchased online for 6 bucks a piece is freekin amazing I have bought quite a few more as well as a better charger.

    I’m using a Xion with lightning bolt right now. Being wireless is amazing, but I hate how I have to wrap everything. It’s definitely a process. I do like the xion, I do everything with it but, it could be better. I ordered this machine because of your review. It’ll be here tomorrow, I’m very excited! I like how there is nothing hanging off the ass end. Been tattooing for 24 years and switching from coil to rotaries was kinda difficult. My first successful rotary was the swashdrive whip with its give mechanism. I fell in love with it and that got me in to rotary machines. These days I mostly have no give but I am looking forward to the sensi-drive. Thanks for the excellent vids.

      the sensi drive is the best thing in this machine. i wish also cheyenne will develop the grip system/mechanism of sol nova unlimited, that will function like cheyenne hawk grip. which mean if you twist the grip the needle will steady in the same position/angle and the button as well. so that it will more effecient.no delays in finding button and no need twisting the machine to get into the right position of the needle again. you can compare and make deep observation by adjusting the needle with sol terra and sol nova and see the difference if which machine is a lot easier and effecient.

    Interesting concept with voltage adjustments through motion sensors. I've used a few of Cheyennes machines and they always end up with some kinda issue even though its warrantied. Both the hawk pen and the newer iteration get louder by the week. Have seen multiple artists have similar issues. I'd be skeptical with all the gimmicks this company is trying to pull off. Curious how long this thing would last with 5-8 put in daily

    • @tattootheory
      @tattootheory  4 роки тому +6

      I’ve had an original hawk machine from 2007 that still runs like new. I have a thunder and a spirit that are both 5 years old and where used daily for years for hours on end and both are still running like new. I had a hawk pen that never had any issues at all for over a year that I ended up selling. What I can tell you is this. Every manufacturer will have machines that have issues I’ve had axys machines and fk irons machines and bishop machines that went to shit in under a month. Cheyenne supplies a 2 year warranty now with every machine if it breaks you get it fixed. The so called gimmicks in the unlimited as you say are amazing pieces of technology that actually work and do exactly as they are designed. Cheyenne is an innovator and leader within the rotary tattoo machine world, what they design the rest follow or copy. They where the first to make a cartridge machine and the first to design the tattoo needle cartridge and everyone else followed and copied. Remember that!!!!
