Well, even though Punisher is an urban street level hero, he’s still in the Marvel universe. So a 1950’s sci fi robot that bops when he walks is not outside the realm of possibility.
I've played and beaten both versions of Capcom vs SNK card fighters. The two strongest character cards are 1500 BP (base power) and each represent the strongest character in their company at the time. Capcom was represented by Mech Akuma, and SNK was represented by Geese Howard. It's kind of funny how SNK believes that Akuma needed to be turned into a cyborg just to tie Geese Howard in strength.
I always figured they went with Killer Bee Cammy for X-Men vs Street Fighter because this game takes place during the Alpha due to the use of the Alpha sprites and Charlie’s presence, which meant Capcom had the opportunity to portray Cammy as a villain, which was not explored in the series proper yet. The sprite would be used in SF Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3. Kinda hilarious that the American branch still translated them as lovers, as one of her win quotes said she and Lord Bison would “laugh about this tonight”.
Can confirm that there are smiley faces on bus seats that have been graffiti’d on or carved on by passengers. With the occasional slur written as well 😅

Omega Red joined Xforce during the Krakoan era. He totally tried to rip timestream apart too beforehand!!! It was like his resume! Wolvie stopped him luckily, but then a truce or some bs. Fun!
I have no idea what Punisher and Nick Fury say during their megacrush. Punisher's always sounded like "Party on!" which is very Wayne's World and not so much Punisher. Nick Fury's sounds like "Hula Angler!" which is just surreal nonsense talk.
Yknow, maybe the AvP beatem up coming to modern consoles isnt 100% off the table now. I never thought MvC2, CvS2 and Power Stone would ever come back. Never say never right?
50:36 CPS2 hardware has a strict limit on how many characters they can display on a select screen. That's also why the VSav upgrades had such strange rosters and why Alpha 3 Upper in arcades had to be on NAOMI instead of the original CPS2
CPS2’s maximum ROM capacity was tapped out with every fighter that had crazy good animation as early as Darkstalkers 1 and X-Men COTA. The later games actually had to cut existing animations in order to make all of what they wanted to do fit. It was never about how much it could handle on screen.
The one I have the most nostalgia for is MSHvsSF, because it was one of the first games I got with my PlayStation. I realize now that I was essentially playing a gimped version of it, but I fucking loved that game and played it all the time. This whole collection is amazing, and I have high hopes for the Fighting Collection 2.
Thanks Matt! I never had the Windows demo of X-Men COTA, but I still have MvC 1 and MSH vs SF on the first PlayStation. I grew up playing these games and being in the arcade scene. You’re right about Blackheart. Wes Bentley tried bringing him to son of Mephisto to live. Peter Fonda did a great job playing Mephisto too. The MCU is doing a great by bringing the Marvel characters to live.🤓😊👊🏾🙌🏾🔥
Capcom actually made the Cammy sprite new for X-Men vs. SF and then ported it to Alpha 2 Gold. I guess they figured since all the other sprites were coming from Alpha they'd do a pre-SF2 era Cammy look.
I really do appricate Capcom something about their old games in these collections. There are still a few games i'd love to see but they are above and beyond what most other publishers are doing with their classics right now
When I first saw Amingo, it struck me as such a weird coincidence that he came along after similarly screwball Mexican plant fighter Deku from Sega's Fighters Megamix.
So, the reason you don't know what Amingo's from is because he seemingly _isn't from anything._ It's believed he may have been from an unknown capcom game that was canceled or a rejected darkstalkers character, but there's no proof of either. Amingo is a complete mystery who just _manifested_ into MvC.

5:13 Yeah, there's a whole video talking what issue each boss and most (if not all) jobber enemies showed up in. 52:03 And there's aunt May behind him and if you play as Spider-Man on this stage, in his spot there's J.J. being held back by Robbie. I guess that could make this stage some studio in J3 Communications which was like Jameson's TV network aside from Daily Bugle in the 90's animated series (don't think it was ever in the comics). That alone is new sprites in the game, but if you want characters, how can you forget the GOAT Norimaro? 1:03:40 They're not S.H.I.E.L.D., they're Avengers dudes. Yeah, the Avengers did have a whole staff of like tech dudes coordinating things in their mansion (the stage with all the screens). 1:09:00 No, Armageddon didn't have endings because Midway was going bankrupt and needed to rush the game out (same reason why there's the lame build-a-fatality system).
Reality Gem in MSH shoots projectiles based on the strength of the normal you press. They don't shoot during specials and you were using a lot of specials. Also it has a really short bar compared to the other gems, so you basically never got them to come out.

This collection looks awesome I enjoyed seeing your gameplay and I can't wait to buy it!! Also it cool to know about the comic facts you talked about!!
Well, even though Punisher is an urban street level hero, he’s still in the Marvel universe. So a 1950’s sci fi robot that bops when he walks is not outside the realm of possibility.
Siiiick dude. Thank ya for making this video. This game is timeless
💯💯💯
1:08:27...amingo is an original creation specifically for MVC2
Omg!!!! I didn’t come here for the punisher, but here it is and it looks awesome!!!! Totally 90s!!! Now I’m looking forward to it
At 58:18 Lord Raptor playing Trouble Man is goals🤣🤣🤣🎸👊🏾🤘🏾
30:30. Yeah...funny Matt would say that on the the very day he uploaded this video!
It's funny how in the SNKverse the strongest being isn't one of the many gods that inhabit it but an egocentric criminal leader named after a bird.
With the occasional slur written as well 😅
People always have something to say, we finally have it and we can play these great games again and for the people talking shit about the collection, very simple
if you don't like just don't buy it and move to Mars...
Omega Red joined Xforce during the Krakoan era. He totally tried to rip timestream apart too beforehand!!! It was like his resume! Wolvie stopped him luckily, but then a truce or some bs. Fun!
4:26 shoud have went with "he is punishing all those bad guys".
It's awesome seeing the concept art and how the art assets are put together. Including the death of Frank's family....family....family
The Reality Gem in Marvel Super Heroes gives the user temporary elemental attacks.
Blackheart gets an additional effect, invisibility.
Captain Commando Ending in Marvel Vs Capcom is a reference to his Ending in his Game.
Did the nerf the difficulty in COTA. Cause Magneto did not mess around in the Saturn version.
I can’t for this to come out it’s coming out soon here in cali
Dino Rex tier list plz
The “take you for a ride” song has been irreparably altered for me by DJ slopes and the Kickscammers show 😂
"We all have the ability to start a Kickstarter"
Been looking forward to this! Both the collection and this video of course 😁
Capcom actually made the Cammy sprite new for X-Men vs. SF and then ported it to Alpha 2 Gold. I guess they figured since all the other sprites were coming from Alpha they'd do a pre-SF2 era Cammy look.
Apocalypse needed Balrog's Fight Money, obviously.
I really do appricate Capcom something about their old games in these collections. There are still a few games i'd love to see but they are above and beyond what most other publishers are doing with their classics right now
22:33 “I don’t like his voice because it’s not the cartoon voice”
You mean “A wooden gun” Magneto?
Anyone else think this package is also being used to see how much interest there is for a new crossover game.
It's the same actor who voiced Gambit IN THE FINAL SEASON of the OG cartoon. Not the original voice from the first few seasons, Chris Potter.
Say what you will about Marvel Super Heroes but never disrespect how cool that entrance to the VS. screen is.
When I first saw Amingo, it struck me as such a weird coincidence that he came along after similarly screwball Mexican plant fighter Deku from Sega's Fighters Megamix.
I only wish the games showcased their original main menus. I don't like just jumping into MVC2 and not unlocking characters but I get it
So, the reason you don't know what Amingo's from is because he seemingly _isn't from anything._ It's believed he may have been from an unknown capcom game that was canceled or a rejected darkstalkers character, but there's no proof of either. Amingo is a complete mystery who just _manifested_ into MvC.
On Marvel Super Heroes after you win a final round press Select during your winning pose & you'll be able to beat your enemy up some more before the next round loads. This really pissed off my buddies back in tha' day lol
Great commentary. I’m really enjoying Punisher and Children of the Atom! Both gems I wasn’t expecting to love.
Edit: the HYE-WAHHHHH noise Punisher makes is truly ridiculous lol
Throw a little webbing in Dr. Face’s doom.
disney has now old fox, xmen back in mvc5!
Smart of you to reduce the flashing given my father has epilepsy.
Fantastic compilation! Keep these coming, Capcom! And bring more of these to XBox Series X!
They did. Both this, and the Capcom vs SNK collection is confirmed for Xbox.
CAN IT PLEASE BE 8:00 PM already?!?
It is now
Waiting for my physical copyyyyy
Reality Gem in MSH shoots projectiles based on the strength of the normal you press. They don't shoot during specials and you were using a lot of specials. Also it has a really short bar compared to the other gems, so you basically never got them to come out.
Marrow was in the X-Men comics from the late 90s through very early 00s
I'm really glad this collection exists, I might buy it for switch to play MVC2 with my buddies. Love your channel too as always Matt, been a fan for a long time
Nice play through... every game in that collection is a banger.
Wow games looks so clean and crisp. Really project all details in the sprites and Backgrounds :o
