This is slightly unfair. Albeit extremely rare, some Americans are open-minded and understanding and don't deserve such harsh treatment. Therefore, a better idea would be to introduce an obligatory test for them at the airports. One simple IQ test and a test about basic common sense. If an American fails they can be prohibited from entry and shipped back to the States.

Protecting bees is quickly becoming a very important part of saving the planet and saving our species as well, since if the bees are gone, everything will slowly but surely start going too - the bees are by far the most important polinators of all sorts of plants - fruits, veggies, crops, etc. It is a well known fact that bees have been steadily declining in numbers all over the world and it is very important to get them back "on track" as there are multiple types of wild bees, but these are just as important if not more than normal "farmed" bees. I belive there are buildings in London for example, bigger buildings as well, that have beehives on their roofs with small gardens (and parks in their surroundings) and this way they are also trying to allow populations of bees to be healthy and slow down their diminishing . US should do much more too.

After the Dunblane massacre in 1996 the UK introduced a total ban on handgun ownership in 1997. Since then knife crime has steadily increased. We now have some of the strictest knife laws in the world. No locking knives can be carried in public, OTF knives and switch blades are illegal to even own and only knives with a blade under 3 inches long can be carried in public. You can still be arrested if the police suspect you don't have a genuine reason for carrying one. If you were to tell police "I'm carrying it for self defence" you'll definitely be arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

The Bee bricks are mostly to ensure the survival of the insect over the winter. Bees are super important pollinators of plants and crops, their numbers have been declining over the years.
The Bee bricks don't go deep inside the building so you can't end up with a giant nest in your wall. The bees and other insects will climb into a hole before winter and usually barricade themselves inside with a mud cap. They'll re-emerge in the spring after hibernating and go off elsewhere to build a nest. Its all part of preserving the habitat that we destroy by building acres of new housing estates. (Much needed housing, but still a shame to see the countryside flattened for a shoddily built "affordable" new housing estate)

A lot of our towns were built long before the US was born. In the Middle Ages towns were built inside walls to protect the citizens. The streets had to be narrow for defence reasons. For us, using so much space like the US do is wasteful. We have a completely different look on things because of history. A part of my town in South Germany is more than 2,000 years old.

People can see and have to comunicte with hundreds of people daily during work hours or going anywhere some people all day every day so when we go home to our private space it is just that a place for us, that is why in general it isn't polite to just turn up unannounced to someone's home, it's more of a planned or semi planned occasion maybe a call or message.

The vast majority of bee species are solitary and make their individual homes in trees, soil, garden debris, woodpiles and the like. In the UK, "bee B&Bs" are a popular item in garden centres. They are often made from a bundle of dozens of short sections of bamboo, or something similar, as long as these are wide enough for bees to spend the winter in hibernation. As others have said, they are vital for the pollination of flowers that produce our fruit and some vegetables.

Funnily enough the knife-related death rate in the UK is one of the lowest in the world (10th lowest as of the latest figures published in 2021). For reference the rate per 100k is 0.08 in the UK and 0.53 in the US, i.e. more than 6x higher in the latter. That's not to say it isn't an issue in the UK - we can and should do better - but I suppose we just care about this issue more than most other countries, which is why it seems so overblown in comparison 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'm from Wakefield area of West Yorkshire where basically most of the small towns and villages have a lot of knives, but it's actually somewhat rare to hear about stabbings. Some places like Castleford you do hear about it often, but places like Pontefract and South Elmsall (where I grew up for 10 years) have a lot of knives carried by chavs who think it's cool, you'll see charvas walking round with machetes in parts of these places, but you don't hear about many stabbings. Fact is, the amount of chavs who carry knives in this country isn't the same as the number of knife crime incidents. Trust me, they're everywhere.

as for that fire hydrant, that road has been resurfaced and the contractor who did it failed to set the manhole correctly, so lose asphalt entered the hole when the when it was resurfaced, hence the fireman digging out the lose asphalt, as normally its just a case of flipping the cover, screwing in the standpipe, and opening the valve with the valve-key (the fatter pipe with the T top is the stand-pipe, the thinner long bar is the valve key, the bar the fireman is using digging at first is the handle that slides into the to of the valve key to turn it, that also doubles as the prybar to open the manhole)

UK fire hydrants are usually underground to prevent them freezing in the winter, and to stop them getting damaged. They are in a brick lined pit usually about 30-50 cm deep, covered with a removable metal plate. The pits should be regularly cleaned and maintained, but sometimes, they can get silted up with grit washed from the road. This is when they need digging out, but it is not usual. 1. Canned Tomato on mash is not a normal meal mate.
    2. Hand Guns are illegal in Britain. And apart from hunters with rifles or shotguns guns aren’t common so knife crime is the weapon of choice mostly for illegal activity.
    3. I suggest that everyone really need to learn that if we don’t have bees or pollinators then the ecosystem will not work and we will have to pay tremendous amounts for food.

Much like American engines our engines have on board water tanks. The hydrants are there to top up the on board tanks. Look at where the yellow hose is going, not onto the fire but into the back of the truck. The Red hoses are connected to the engine and are used to fight the fires the yellow hoses are the refill hoses. which connect the engin to the hydrant.

The fire hydrant one show's a severe lack of maintenance and inspection. The fire brigade would normally have all the hydrants in their area opened up cleaned and checked on a regular basis. So its just a case of opening the cover removing the cap and screwing on the stand pipe. With the amount of time the fireman spent digging out the dirt id say that one hadn't been opened for at least a decade. Even with all that he had it set up and ready to go before the rest of the crew were finished unpacking their gear and the engine carries a supply of water to start initial operations while they're sorting out a resupply from the hydrant. This system saves money on infrastructure because each engine carries their hydrant with them and prevents kids messing with the supply and waisting water because you can't access it without the correct tools.

Fire hydrants in the UK are below ground, beneath a cover with FH or H to identify them and they are about 200 yards apart. These open with a key and a stand pipe adapter is screwed onto the valve which is in direct contact with the water main. We like to keep them out of the way to stop them being damaged or vandalised etc. Our fire-engines have their own supply of water onboard and when this runs out they use the hydrants which may also be used if a high powered jet of water s needed

Knife crime is an issue in some parts of the UK but to a lesser extent than gun crime is in the USA. We take the view that although knives are much more easily accessible, by and large you shouldn't be carrying one without a good reason - not even a pocket knife in many cases, so possession, especially where it could be used to commit crime can be an offence. This, like gun control measures is very different to America where even switchblades can be legally carried. These and locking knives are banned here. Amnesty boxes aren't exactly common but do pop up in certain places or at certain events
That video of a fire hydrant needing to be uncovered is unusual - even below ground they are easily accessed by firefighters usually. Lift a flap, spin the pipe on and turn the tap. Above ground, in many streets they would be a trip hazard for pedestrians, or for vehicles on our narrower roads, and there will always be some scrote that finds a way to urn it on and flood the place!
Those benches are to deter rough sleeping

Re the fire hydrants - the hoses are deployed first from the fire tender (engine) in moments. The hydrants are used to feed water to the tender and keep it topped up whilst it's fighting the fire, and are coupled after the hoses are deployed - hence the time lapse. I think the US works in a similar way - first connect the hose to the Pump (tender/engine) and begin to fight the fire, once underway, the engine is connected to the replenishment supply from the hydrant.
