Can a bountiful garden be made in the far north? Let's talk about gardening in northern climates and gardening in cold climates. Yes, it can! Today I'm sharing with you week TWO of the garden color in our potager garden and cottage garden. A potager garden tour if you will. We had snow just 7 weeks ago yet the potager and cottages gardens are giving me their very best mid-June color here in zone 5b. Northern gardening CAN be done even if it's a slow start! We're in Western New York off of Lake Ontario. Gardening here has been one of my greatest joys and biggest heartaches. It's either snowing, allergy season, too windy, or hotter than blazes. I want to get out there so bad today but we are still in the trenches with two toddlers and consistently exhausted. This video was very helpful today to get me to rest and feel sympathetic joy for others' gardens. It's amazing how much you all do.

I'm in Zone 3....you're area is in Zone 5 I believe. I know how "far north" gardening is often very difficult. We do it cuz we love it, right? 😊

My dream yard you have but sadly I live in desert and we are in a drought big time and have to cut back on water and don’t get much rain , and then because we can experience all 4 seasons in one day , fruit trees and plants get frozen temps are up and down and winters are long ! Long to live where it rains and things are so green and beautiful and you don’t have the fear of using too much water or the high cost of using the little water you do use ! Your garden is absolutely beautiful!!!!!

I garden in upper zone 4, always takes a little longer for plants to pop. They are in their glory right now.

Angela, Gorgeous flowers and foliage plus your bird song is delightful! Need to replace a couple peony bushes which has blight (flower heads full then fall over wilting.) So beautiful! I love densely packed flower beds. I also like a little wild and untried as it looks more natural.
I am in zone 9a and can only dream of peonies! This week my grocery store got a rare shipment of cut peonies and they are in a white pitcher on my table bringing me much joy with their soft pink tissue paper like petals.

Do they roll their eyes?😆 I watched an Italian chef critique Giada’s Italian food yesterday. I imagine it would be the same with the French and potagers.

Those urns are absolutely fabulous! And I love how that delicate branch fence holds back the wild forest and the ponds. I just don't have enough room, but we do have little fountains to add the calming sound of water. Your garden is becoming more and more beautiful.❤️💕

My tulips put on a wonderful display and are now fading. Peonies are just forming their buds. My Alberta garden is in a zone 4. Cold and raining all week.

Love it! a challenge I have run into is layering spring and summer....my tulips take up too much space and I have no clue where to plant things for the summer! Hopefully I sort it out over the years

This is so timely! We are moving from southeastern Pennsylvania to my husband’s home of very north Idaho next month, and I’ve been dreading losing the ability to grow just about everything!
Beautiful flowers &foilage. Love your vegetable garden. Have you considered spray painting or painting the older yard furniture to a white? It would add that extra pop of color.
Oh this so makes me want to go outside and work in my gardens but I can't. We are in the middle of a heat wave. It feels like 110 degrees outside and takes your breath away. At least I could enjoy your garden from my cool air conditioned house!
