If you can, go for the Fuji Speedway edition. It's rare, it got all the good bits of the 3.0 version in 2.0 and it won't kill you if you are not an experienced racing driver.

The stability control is quite good in the 3.0. You would really have to try hard to lose control of it, imho. You can be pretty aggressive and it will catch you.

If it makes you feel better, the 12-speaker 500W JBL Premium Audio package IS an option on the 2.0 in the USA.😎

Sooooooo, I went from a 4cyl Cayman to a 2.3ltr Mustang into a 2ltr Supra over the course of the last 3 years so an honest review from someone who lived with all 3 is:-
Cayman was in a different world!!!!!! Just great in every single way as a daily.
The Mustang turned heads and all in all I really liked it except when on B roads, it was like driving a ship.
The Supra, after 3 months of ownership is.............grey, it looks dramatic, if im honest, is actually quite fast but overall nothing to write home about and it cant touch my Cayman in any way.
If you're in the market, buy the Cayman!!!!!!!

I also got a 2.0 Supra. Since I live in texas it seems everybody and their mother has a Mustang so it’s actually the opposite here that the supra is what’s turning heads 😂

@@sisko3893 I think I saw about 4 other Mustangs the whole time I owned it but its very rare driving around Glasgow 🤣🤣
The Supra looks good and is a good car, no doubt about it but I keep harking back to my 2018 Cayman which ran rings round both.

Wow and that’s just the 4 banger cayman…. The flat 6 must be really something!

I just got the 2022 model with same color.. It is a sexy car, and nice to drive around. The MPG is great also :D

for me i dont like slow cars thats why i want the 3liter but some say the four cylinder is slow, i have to test drive them both. but almost 300hp in a small car will go fast for sure. he said he didnt feel safe in the 3.0 is it that fast. or scary?

A Porsche for the same money is a 718 with no options fitted. If you want to have the same tech as you get in the Supra you'll need to add another £5142 according to the configurator.

It looks so much better than that old blobby 90’s Supra ever did!
The 3.0 version has some quite alarming handling characteristics. Really horrible bump steer and nasty factory geometry.
Not a fun car to drive briskly on Uk roads.

    • @soapa4279
      @soapa4279 2 роки тому +2

Do you own one or just regurgitating random people’s opinion? I own a 2022 3.0 Premium and never had any bump steer issues at the track or the windy backroads.

      @@soapa4279
      Neither!
I badly wanted one, as I love the looks and the B58 is fantastic. I’d given up on the idea of any more BMW ‘Soorts cars’ but this Toyota got me very excited! I viewed the collaboration as a big positive.
I drove a 3.0 10miles on local challenging B-Roads and immediately discounted it, due to issues I mentioned above.
I also struggled with the whole auto only thing, as I just knew I’d tire of it. That’s been done to death though, so I didn’t bother mentioning.
I’m used to Cayman GTS models (981 and 718) so am admittedly spoiled.
They take the same challenging roads apart with a scalpel.
They should too given the price, but it’s obvious where the money has been spent!
So in Feb last year, we bought a third manual GTS and a Hyundia i30n for daily / dog duties.
I still hanker after a Supra when I see one though, so I hope you enjoy yours.
Was it a big step up from your previous cars?

    • @soapa4279

@@DontPanicDear oh ok, I just personally haven't experienced the issues, it could be a regional thing as you mentioned you're from the UK (I am in northern California in the US) the windy roads here are not too bumpy. The track I have been on was Laguna Seca and it performed admirably.
But yes a Porsche Cayman GTS is the benchmark, so it might explain why you're used to it.
My previous car was a 2020 Subaru WRX and before that a 2016 BMW M4. Wildly different cars, so far the Supra is the most fun to drive. The M4 was faster in a straight line, but steering feel wasn't as good and it was much heavier. The WRX was needed at the time for 4 doors but no longer needed it and I bought this Supra.

      @@soapa4279
I think that explains it mostly then 🤓
The roads I use regularly are like a rollercoaster when driven at speed. You get chucked about in your seat with lots of +G and diagonal pitching!
      More like tarmac rally stages.
I have almost no smooth constant radius corners here, like where you are or on a track!
I miss decent smooth corners where you can really lean on the chassis.
      Enjoy your Supra 😀

Good nonsense. I learned something new today; the existence of the Ha-Go tank. So, this shared sportscar development thing, Z4/Supra, GT86/BRZ, I feel it diminishes the brands. Just look at what the solely developed GR Yaris has done to raise Toyota's profile (did I ever mention...). I'm looking forward to seeing the FSO/Koenigsegg hypercar.
Would the soon to be released GR86 be a competitor to the 4 cylinder Supra?

    • @subnegro4946
      @subnegro4946 3 роки тому

Highly doubtful they would be competitors. Don't let the difference in horsepower fool ya the 2.0 Supra will still be much quicker.

Cheers as always Tim, always enjoy the no-nonsense feedback.
As an idea for future ‘content’; could you do a Porsche through the ages vid.
I’m thinking either a Boxster of a Cayman as they’re the most obtainable for everyday humans and compare the models back to back starting from the earliest, to the most up to date version.
It would be interesting to hear your opinion on how they’ve improved dynamically vs driver involvement and feedback.
It obviously wouldn’t be as easy to arrange logistically as a standard vid, but I’m sure I’m not alone in wanting to see that:
You could do a follow-on using a 911, or equally some other interesting cars that have endured over the years, maybe a 3 or 5 series? (just not a Golf, as that’s been done to death!!)
    Cheers 😃👍🏼
Also - random edit/addition; you may or may not be aware that the 3 litre Supra suffers with terrible bump-steer at the back. You’re only likely to feel the effects when on track or doing something highly illegal, buuutttttt…. Can you confirm or deny if the 4-pot suffers the same affliction, or have they tweaked the running gear between models?

This is a torquey automatic grippy thing.
The GR86 is a cheap feeling revvy na slidey low grip thing with a manual box.
      Different customers I guess.
