2022 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 road test and review 4K - For Enthusiasts, Not Posers

- Even though the latest Toyota Supra is a BMW Z4 at heart, it is sufficiently different (visually and in terms of the driving experience) to be its own vehicle. After driving both, I can say I now prefer the sharper and more tail-happy Supra, which is guaranteed to make you smile around any corner.

I got the 23 a week ago. I love going to work and coming home from work. Just got to find a touch less car wash now and I’m golden
Touchless is the way to go :)
finally a nice review. iam tired of ''its a bmw ahahaha'' type of entrance. i am glad that i found ur video bro. thanks for review and i couldn't agree more on ur opinion about the first part. keep it up
Cheers, thanks for watching! Happy you also agree with me, obviously :)
Thank you for mentioning the Fast and the Furious. That movie hyped up the Supra too much. I remember being in high school when that movie came out and before that nobody cared for the Supra. Now you have those same fans talking crap on the MKV. Ingorance
Yes, it’s the FF movies that really brought it to the public’s attention. Those “fans” who say bad things about the latest one, well, just don’t listen to them 😅
You mean those people and their 12 year old punk kids
The MK4 Supra was a legend before F&F. It was on the cover of the Original Grand Tursimo and was a dominant platform in The Midnight Club Japanese underground racing development organization. In the US it dominated the Dodge Viper and Fox body mustangs on the drag strip and prices never went below retail in the used market. Post 2001 the car was introduced to casuals.
Thanks for sharing & watching!
Nope. It was a failure before the f&f. No one was buying that over priced car. $50k msrp back in the 90’s was around $70k. F&f brought it to the fore front and everyone was like OMG. That is just facts.
@@touayaaj84 your saying “nope” like eveything I said wasn’t a fact. Re read and comprehend it. I said F&F introduced it to casuals.
@@touayaaj84 That was my impression too...
@@touayaaj84 You're confusing things. Before F&F, "car guys" definitely respected the MK4. F&F just brought it to the attention of casuals.
Bought my '22 3.0 Premium a few weeks ago, and I can't stop driving it. I'm ok during the week because I'm stuck in the office. But on the weekends, I'm just looking for excuses to drive😁
Congrats! I know I wouldn’t stop driving it. When I had this car to review, I drove it more than any other car I’ve ever reviewed. I think I filled it up four or five times in a week 😅 It’s just so much fun and so rewarding for the keen driver.
Great review and loved the video. Good work
Cheers, thanks for watching!
the blank space on the dials is for the Sat nav
And a secret menu that u can access, as I found after shooting the video...
This car is more than most people can handle
Yes, a bit, but it can also teach you car control if you are willing to learn.
I love my 2021 Supra! This was such a great review, thank you. I’m thinking about a Litchfield Stage One which will take it to 440bhp 😈
Thank you for watching! Do the upgrade, by all means, but since you're adding 100 hp, it's best to maybe also put stickier tires on it, and. maybe some more aggressive brake pads to help reign it in.
@@OneTireFire thanks so much for making this vid - it’s one of the best reviews of the Supra I’ve seen 👏… that’s the thing though, it’s so good as it is adding that extra power doesn’t really feel necessary. TBH it feels more powerful than the quoted 335hp anyway (and we all know BMW are famous for understating their numbers) … the other day the car valet went to move it and got scared because it felt way more powerful than it looked to him 😂
@@TailoringTalkMagazine Yeah, I can definitely confirm it feels quicker than the official figures suggest. I also got to drive the nearly 380 hp BMW M340i facelift around the same time as the Supra and that felt like it was putting down over 400 hp easily. Check that video out if you have’t already. It’s one of the more recent uploads on the channel.
hi guy,hey question for ya,since you owned it since 2021 that's some time to have under your belt with ownership,so did you have any oil leaks etc with it,and is the 'wind buffeting' a myth or true with the windows down at normal driving with them 'down'(around town etc,not on the highway)? hey thanks!!
@@johnyaskoveakarpaccio4737 No oil leaks. Wind buffeting is a thing, I still need to get the deflectors but at that speed I drive windows up anyway
For $10 you can fix the wind buffeting easy fix
How do you do it?
We’re you driving with tc off or is it naturally kind of tail happy?
Both :)
Add a Driver Profile and then you can save your Sport Mode settings
Yeah, I thought that was the case. Thanks for sharing 🙏
@GrimlockGT: It saves the sport mode settings yes, but it still starts the car in normal mode. I *THINK* there may be a way to mod that in with bimmercode, but stock, it always defaults to normal when you turn the car on.
My tailgate signal comes on in my dashboard sayings it’s open even then I knows it’s closed and locked. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this issue ?
Just take it to the dealer. I've not heard anyone mention this issue yet.
Interesting that Europe got the 340hp
While America got the 380hp for 21’s and up. Is that why your tester sounds so quiet? My 22 Supra pops and bangs on every downshift and it’s stock. But this tester is so quiet…or is it the filter…
I was initially tempted to say the particulate filter may have something to do with the lower power output for the Supra sold in Europe. However, the same engine makes the full 380 hp with an OPF in BMW's own cars, so it's clear they can get the power out of it.
The OPF is surely the reason behind the much quieter exhaust. It does occasionally pop really loudly and it crackles on the overrun, but it's definitely slightly more muted than other cars with the B58 engine and no OPF (like the Supra that you mention).
It’s the euro version, no pops unless you tune it in
finally not a ''it is bmw hahahah'' type of idiot. nice video man keep it up
Cheers, thanks for watching!
Why it has the Toyota name on top of the supra I never noticed that
Euro models get the small Toyota script above the Supra logo. This is not present on US market cars.
All mk5 needs to disable the ASD to be tolerable, especially when making a video.
I think you can turn it off through some menu.
Have one a-91cf love the auto my fingers are in my ears it works its fast your opinion …. Your screaming to loud no one can hear you
Not sure what you are trying to say there…
@@OneTireFire too much complaining about auto transmission its fantastic also in rolls and bentley i belive of. Yes comes with paddle swifter
💪
👋
The previous Supra was also very expensive... there were other Japanese sport cars more attainable
Yeah, it was more expensive compared to the new one, you’re right. My money back in the day would have gone towards buying an NSX, not a Supra 😅
Hoooning???
Yes, hooning ;)
Isn't it a BMW for posers that want a Supra? 🤔🤷
No, where did you get that impression? And just because lots of posers buy BMWs doesn't mean the cars are bad or that the posers are actually capable of driving them properly or using them to their full breadth of ability.
That seems like a nonsensical, throwaway question.
What exactly were you trying to say?
@@pushslice he was trying to let everyone know that he's too poor to afford a new supra and is jealous of people who own and enjoy them.
Average stock mk4 1000hp stock believer
Tell me you can't afford a nice car, without having to say that you can't afford a nice car 😂
Stick to your suzuki swift
Why anyone would get an Automatic is beyond me... A true driver always opts for manual. I am so glad they came to their senses and released the 6 speed.
I also think that you have to have this with a manual, but apparently, we're in the minority here.
That’s because neither have used the ZF8 Automatic Transmission in that thing. Unbelievably fast
That’s because automatic and manual are too close
^^^ "True driver".. please shaddap. If you own the A90/A91 with AT, more power to you. Hella car!
