Make Texas RED this election or else we will be moving elsewhere!! All Democrat states or cities turn into garbage. Sorry but had to say it! I like my low taxes, most importantly!
Thank you for keeping Texas Red. I love Texas, been here since 1992, my dad brought me here from El Salvador and I never felt the need to move to another state, I just visit other states, enjoy what they have to offer and come back home to my beautiful state of Texas.
Dude I don't know you but I'm happy for you, I currently live in San Diego and as soon as this corona stuff goes away I plan on selling my condo and buying a house in San Marcos or San Antonio. Luckily I'm a fully disabled vet so property taxes are non-issue and I definitely align more with Texas vs California politically.
Thanks! Great plans, and hope you like it here! As a disabled vet I believe you don’t deal with property taxes at all here too. San Antonio is full of US service members and veterans. Pretty cool place where I’ve gotten to know a lot of awesome people.
I moved out of CA 2 years ago. I am now in the midwest. I totally agree with him about being able to afford traveling because your overhead is lower. I can now afford to travel more, get weekly massages and chiro visits, eat out if I want to, etc. My health has improved tremendously. I am retired and glad I left CA.
Tbh I dont have any bestfriends and I'm 23. My parents will retire to mexico soon. Even if homes drop 40% here in L.A county, theres no way I'll be able to comfortably afford it unless my businesses blow up. Texas is definitely #1 on my list.

Not for long. That’s why so many Texans are scared of their state turning democrat because that’s when Republicans will begin to lose their advantage in the electoral college.
What fool moves for politics? Both parties are the same. SAME DEFICIT🇺🇸 You’re republicans spend just as much But On killing Foreigners for THIER oil & minerals. & You get “NONE OF IT”!🥴 #PATRIOT🤡
Hope people don't get too upset with the political and idealogical digs from some Texas commenters. I'm also a conservative Texan, but I also appreciate other people's experiences and viewpoints. Most of Texas remains red, but that doesn't mean that there aren't much more liberal areas, such as Austin. I guess my point is that whenever you go, just make sure it's a good fit for your values, whatever they may be. Note to Texans: You might be shocked how many Californians are just as conservative as you are. Don't assume the news tells the whole story about any place.
In the race between Cruz and O'Rourke, exit polls showed California ex-pats voted for Cruz at a higher rate than native Texans did. Let's hope that trend continues.
Thank you Hot Soup! California is not all fruits and nuts. Some good people out here but we are outnumbered. I don't get why some Texans want to turn us away.
Thanks for sharing! We are moving to Texas soon from California and we are very conservative, so we are super excited to get out of the crazy state we are in.
Moved to Texas from San Diego 18 years ago. Still no regrets. Even costs like registering your vehicle is so much lower than California. I did notice the homes in Dallas are more expensive than Houston. I'm in North Houston in the Spring/The Woodlands area. It's so beautiful here.
Thanks Edward for your 3-year update. It's not common to even live in the same city for 3 years nowadays. Would you like to make a video about dating in Dallas? What are the women/men there like? How are they different from those in California or other states/cities? Or anything in between. I'm sure you have some opinion already about dating in Dallas. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks
Yes, my wife and I live in Athens now and we are loving it. We've been here a month now. Right on the lake, if you ever what to go fishing next year, I"m getting a skeeter in Nov.
I think you should explore and comment on the diversity here. I am a Texan but my wife is Chinese from Laos (if that makes sense). There are huge shopping centers here for Vietnamese (a TV station too), Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese. (all this also in Houston). There are numerous Buddhist temples open to the public, Chinese college prep schools and different language newspapers. The Indian community has a huge footprint here to, and they brought their food with them (yum). I am probably missing someone but the point is, we all get along. One State, under God, with liberty and justice for all. Lets keep it that way East and West coasters should have a test and revocable permit before moving here, just like hunting or driving. A Texas resident learners permit. You vote liberal and you lose your license and have to return to where ever you came from.
So if I understand correctly, the property taxes "go up" because your property gets re-appraised. Not because your taxes go from say 2.8 to 3.0, correct? -- And how does the appraisal work? Can you get your own or does the county/state just automatically do that?
Correct. County does appraisals, and the majority of us protest the values every year. With the housing prices going way up, that definitely affects taxes.
I miss ggougeous southern california and the diversity big time After 4 yrs living in texas It, s not just about cheap big.house or cheap gas or politics I just sold big.house and.getting.ready to go back to Sunny southern cali Life is.not easy in cali. But I don't belong here straight up It, s just another dimension to me 🙏🙏
Thanks for your honesty. I have a feeling that some people would never admit that. I do know a couple of people who moved out of CA, then grew to regret it. They are both now trying to get back. There’s a reason why so many people want to live in CA.
I've retired and I live in the SF Bay Area. However, I do remember how nice the weather is in the San Diego area when I was going to college. I've been going down to San Diego looking at some properties to have a house built. The weather in the SF Bay Area is pretty good. But the winters are cooler than the San Diego area.
Everyone is welcome to Texas just keep ur liberal views out of here as u can see cities like LA CHI MIA NYC have failed dont come n ruin our beautiful state
Outstanding point... I live in Florida and we have a lot of New Yorkers moving here with their problems/views and it’s starting to show. Good luck Texas.. I hear Austin is getting really liberal. Maybe you can answer that for me.

I live in Southern California and I love it. Inland Empire to be exact. It's nice here, yes there are homeless people but atleast in my city it's controlled. The traffic is bad Monday through Friday and taxes are bad lol But I have the beach, mountains and lakes to enjoy. Perfect weather 24/7 for the family.
I live in Union City California, it’s just outside Silicon Valley. It’s a 20 minute drive to Oakland and a 30 minute drive to San Francisco. Regarding homeless, we do have some, but it’s not out of control as folks are making it out to be. Traffic is still a bit high on the major highways, but the convenience of having all the major grocery stores, restaurants, Target, Walmart, Costco, etc. within less than a 10 minute drive is a luxury that I greatly appreciate.
@@0akland510 I was just working out there last week.. lots of nice areas out there. And the homeless situation ain’t bad at allll to how they make it sound. I think I seen more homeless in Texas than what I seen in San Francisco. And I was working in Texas for 4 months

Property tax in Texas it depends on what county you’re living. Example if you live Houston which is Harris county the property tax is very high but if you go to more of smaller counties it’s also cheaper. Do some research before you move to Texas you can find it online.
damn bro.....i watched your very first vid of you talking about moving to texas. i just found you here again. how you liking it. shout out from Plano. i moved 2018 from s-hole SF. it spiral down hill real quick after i left. it's about 3 years for us too. we love it here. how you be liking paying $2.49 for gas instead of $4.50 like in SF. i am subbing right now to follow you.
Been watching since u started ur channel. You get out more than I do. Traveling and having fun. In McKinney and yes, property taxes gone up almost $3000 since 2012. Youre doing great! Smart to save 50%....very smart
You mentioned that your electricity was like $50 - $80 a month even in summer in an earlier video. Is it really that cheap when you are blasting the AC during your triple digit summer months? You touched on tornadoes and house damage. Can you share more details on that like has a tornado actually damaged your residence? Can you also discuss your local area property crime rates as in house & car prowlers and how you defend against that? Your topics are informative so keep posting
Good point. My AC bill was $110 last month. I had hail and wind damage in 2018 and had to replace my roof. I ended up paying $2650 out of pocket (1% of house value). Good insurance and 1% deductible is important. Had to fight with the insurance on it for 1 month. I know a friend living in a high hail probability area and got screwed because he had to replace roof 3x in 6 years. I think that's a video idea to make. I bought in a low crime area but I've seen the car prowler issue and I'd recommend them just park in the garage. Keep the cars locked. There are times in good neighborhoods you have young kids opening cars at like 2am just to see what's inside.
I downside my home to 2560sqf 7 years ago because 3800sqf house was too big for my family. My electric bill around 150 bucks during summer. In Austin the temperature average about 95 degrees in summer and 60 in winter but there will be a few days it will drop to 30 degree. I love it when the temperature drop to 30 degrees because I don’t have to go to work due icy roads.
Wow! Such a great, informative video! I am in CA and I’ve been here my whole life. But recently, I have had friends leave California to live in Texas for many of the reasons you suggested: the high housing costs, the increase of the governmental control on your life, and a number of other reasons. I’m curious to learn more about Texas. Thank you so much for sharing.
We're having a bunch of people over tonight for bbq and fireworks. I know all my neighbors and they brought food when we moved in and everyone is very polite. Although since I'm getting up there in years, everyone calling me sir, makes me feel old.

Colin county is booming because that’s where most of the companies leaving California go. Safer than Dallas county, and property value is going up. Also, I 100% agree with not overspending on a house just because you can. Keep that money, invest, travel, or just keep it in the bank.

Simply said… Here it is in a nutshell… If you are from another state any state, but for now let’s just say California, and you come to Texas… Live here, enjoy what we have in Texas… And if for some reason it is not your cup of tea… Then to all of those simply Pack up all of your belongings, enter home on your GPS tracking device in your car and head back to wherever you came from and be happy again… Or try somewhere else. But as this gentleman said he came to Texas and has enjoyed his time here… Good for you sir! Texas is alone as far as our people, our way of life, and our beliefs! Texans are as friendly a group of people as you’re going to find anywhere… But still, if it’s not for you, please don’t complain because all those complaints we don’t give one good dammm about!!! Hey Edward, how does the Asian food from Texas compare to what you had in Cali? People usually say any Asian food you get in Cali/LA is some of the best. If LA Asian food is rated 10, what would you give the Asian food from Dallas Texas area? If you can give opinion specific to Plano area that would be great. (Plano is where I'm planning on moving to within the next couple of years because of the Mitsuwa, H Mart, and Ranch 99 haha)

Ok, I like this dude. I get why he moved here. However, I would use caution because you basically are not describing the essence of what Texas is. I was born here, and live on 8 acres between Denton and Decatur. (You know where that is by now). We have horses, 4 wheelers, and no real rules (Unincorporated). Don't judge see us like you do people in Frisco, Plano, Carrollton and all the other urban cities. Most of those people come and go. People out here are country folk, we don't really judge people on much. We see two things. Honesty and Respect. We don't have contracts, we have handshakes. We same ma'am and sir, ladies are respected, not beaten, and we could care less what color you are or if you date the same sex. The only issue we have is when people make demands on our lifestyle based on their own perceptions. So I may go to church and own as little at 20 different weapons. You may not like church and be afraid of guns. I support the fact you it is your right, and will never judge you for it. Don't label me for mine. If you really wanna see the country and the essence of Texas, you can't do it from where you are. You can shoot me an email and as any Texas will tell you; "We have a place at our table for ya any time". PS- Dont bring that car, my meme/pic tells ya what cha need to get around out here. Welcome to Texas friend!
Thanks for the explanation and the welcome! Nothing but respect from me here. Still building up my little arsenal and would like to get into hog hunting someday aside from standard shooting ranges. Might even get a Ford Raptor at some point--been into those lately.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. A lot of Californians will tell you the downside is you have to live in Texas or Georgia or whatever. Most have never been outside of California. They have a stereotype of everywhere else. Outside of weather and geography diversity of Ca, that's about it for me. Sure weather is great in Ca and weather for me in Georgia is not as nice in the summer, the 3 hot months I have more money living cheaper to go travel. Hmm 3 months living in another country or seeing California every day. BTW I moved to Atlanta after living in Ca all my life. Very happy with the move.
Awesome! I used to think that California was the best thing ever, but seeing others move out one by one changed my perspective. Glad you're happy with the move.
May I ask...how do you get up and move from your city....and go to a new city ...and the apartments require 3x the rent and a lot of the jobs on indeed pay 15-20 an hour how do you get into an apartment and prove 3x the proof of income??
I’ve lived in Texas and even if I am conservative I will also vote depending on my belief. I also don’t like the property tax. The housing market is going to increase because of all these people moving here because of jobs. Maybe live in a suburban town outside the metro so you will not pay higher property tax.
There are companies that will fight your property taxes every year. I live outside of Houston and the company I have will protest any property increase every year. If they save you money you pay them half of what they saved you. I paid them $145.00 this year, last year I didn’t pay them anything. Giving them half is better than giving the county the full amount.
Great video! I was born and raised in Texas (DFW) and I would not live anywhere else! Another thing that you could point out in your next video is that DFW (and most big metropolitan areas in Texas) offers the ability to live a country life while still being close to the city. For example, my family and I live in a beautiful house on five acres in Royse City with a horse-ready barn. My wife works in Dallas at 75 and Walnut Hill and only has a 35 to 50 minute commute depending on traffic. Texas is able to offer big city conveniences and/or a country lifestyle simultaneously. It is perfect for anyone’s preference. Also, out here in Royse City, our property taxes are under 2%, rather than the 2.8% you mentioned in your area of the metroplex. Though we are in Royse City, we are in Rockwall County which means we have access to the extraordinary schools in Rockwall County as well as Royse City’s exemplary school district. Rockwall is the ultimate suburban city... great restaurants, shopping, parks, beautiful downtown, and of course Lake Ray Hubbard. Here in Royse City, we are able to live a country lifestyle while only being 10-15 minutes away from the suburban amenities of Rockwall and only 40 minutes away from downtown Dallas. Love your channel, keep it up!
Thanks! Very good point here. I didn't know the taxes were 2% out in rockwall. Still have to make a trip to see that lighthouse over on that lake. Thanks for sharing!
Yes property taxes can increase yearly, but you can always contest the increase at your tax assessor office. You can do it yourself or get a lawyer to do it. Won’t probably keep at you your current rate, but more often than not they will reduce that increase. It’s annoying doing this but it’s a way to combat those tax spikes.
too many bad comments about being liberal. flash news. there are pros and cons for being either liberal or conservative. it's all subjective. why can't we all just appreciate diversity and stop judging so much.
Houston is home to far more Fortune 500 Headquarters than Dallas and Austin combined. Come on down. Winters are milder and summers aren’t much warmer. Fall, Spring? What are those?
Summers in Huston are awful because of the humidity. We have lived in Texas 3 times, Midland, Snyder and Huston. Retired to Northern California foothills. House prices here are higher than Dallas but slightly less than Austin. California weather is better and scenery is much better and diverse. Hate the politics/regulations here in California. Will probably eventually move to either Texas or Tennessee since we have kids there. Tennessee would be less expensive with lower taxes. Prop 13 has kept our property taxes reasonable especially compared to Texas. Our son lives in Austin and his property taxes are almost as much as our property and income taxes even though his home is smaller than ours. So as they say, location, location. Our home in the bay area would be 3 times what it is here.
I goad you like it here in Tx . You should explore further west , there is a lot of mtns in Alpine and Ft Davis around Marfa and the Guadeloupe Mtns . Enjoy.
I'm looking to move out of CA and have been researching North Dallas myself. I know the temperature can get really hot there, but can you elaborate on how you adjusted to it? Was it difficult to get use to? How long did it take? How's the humidity?
Yeah, A/C and heater are definitely a must. Gotta drink more water than usual or else migraines are possible. Park in the parking garage as much as possible. Have sun shades on all windows in the heat. Shorts and flip flops for most of the summer. In winter, gotta have a good line of sweaters and jackets because it does go in the 30s. Heated blankets help a lot. It is humid, just not as humid as Austin/SAT/Houston.
I’m glad everything going well for you brotha! I also plan to move out there to San Antonio! My parents live out there so I’ve been going to visit. Soonest all this pandemic s over I’m planning on selling our house and moving out there

As far as hobbies, you should tell people that Texas has a little bit of everything. You may have to drive a bit to get to it, but considering what you're saving on a daily commute, you still come out ahead. Texas has forests in the east, a long coastline, rivers, hills, canyons, deserts, and even a couple of mountains. The states surrounding Texas also have popular attractions. Louisiana has New Orleans. Arkansas has the Ozark mountains and hot springs. Oklahoma and Louisiana have casinos. New Mexico has skiing.
Hi, I've been researching about the situation in pleasanton, ca, specially in beacon hill company, probably a food manufacturer. I've been searched by an employer through indeed and got an offer as a QA specialist. Actually I already rejected a previous offer to work for the same position at Milpitas. I am at a crossroad now since I am starting a business. Though, this opportunity has been knocking already twice at my door. Should I grab it? By the way, I am a filipina. For a Registered Nurse with 10yrs of work experience. Can I afford a brand new home in Dallas by myself? I'm single and ready to mingle lols... I find it hard to be stable here in San Diego California, I can surely buy a house here but I will be house poor. I still want to travel and invest and grow money aside from my job, so, I'm considering moving to Texas. I want to have financial freedom. I don't want to unnecessarily need to work overtime, I want to do overtime to have more money to pay for my house or for more money to go to investment. Politically, I am conservative, I'm a Gay Christian, I think I will be fine in Texas minus if there will be racist agains LGBTQ and Asians... Which areas in Dallas do you suggest for me to buy a house? I'm also considering San Antonio. I heard Houston is fine but I don't want hurricanes. How is the tornadoes, I'm kinda scared about that, I don't wanna lose my house and I want to be in a safe place away from calamities?
I’m also a nurse from California. I think San Antonio has a lot to offer. I went there for military training. Check out the River Walk, popular for food and shopping. As an Asian, I understand Houston has many communities. Good luck 👍
The real estate tax is based on the value of the home. So if your county appraised value goes up every year, your taxes will too. Denton County has taxes in the 2.3-2.5% range. I moved to Flower Mound Denton Co., to take advantage of the lower tax rate.
I am Asian, and grew up in Orange County California. Its a nice place down here, so I don't really have an incentive to move out yet. But in case if I ever have to leave, I would like my new home to have an Asian community so that I can still eat Chinese/Vietnamese/Japanese/Korean food. Does Dallas have Asian markets? Will I be able to get boba milk tea there?

As a brasilian, it's mesmerazing seeing taxes in the US, here in brazil, it's estimated that 6 months of your work it's just to pay taxes, while in the us, if politicians try to increase taxes by 0,5% in any area, people simply don't accept it, i whish i could live in this great country, God bless america.
I think my largest concern with leaving California for Texas is that in the area I live in, I can go to target, pick up some quick lunch, and head back home in less than 25 minutes. I lived in Florida for one year and the far driving to do menial tasks is horrible. There’s no place I’ve seen like Orange County, but the downside is that you pay for it.

Here is my question about Texas high increasing every year property tax: For a state that is primarily hands off Government regulations, why doesn’t someone there stop that? I understand it’s used to fix roads and schools and maybe no income tax there off sets it, but if property taxes are the highest in the nation and keep increasing every year, then Texas doesn’t really sound so “free” to me.
Texas is a load of garbage and a lot of hype. They put nationalism in their minds and they think they're free. In a few years they won't be able to afford the TAXES Alone. Think they won't go up... Hi! Congrats on the successful move and settling down. I'm moving from CA to NJ: I hear you need to pay California taxes for 10 years, even after you move away. Can you share if you know anything about this? Or if you've experienced anything like it?

@@twielajones384 California has more homeless people than 22 states combined. The average home cost is 800k now. Most people can't afford to buy their first home. Criminals can steal up to $900 everyday with a slap on the wrist. There is zero forest management hence the horrible wildfires compared to other states with a similar climate. The freeways are a joke. Hours spent in traffic daily. You are forced to send your children to the school in their zip code instead of parents choosing where they want their kids to go. This results in black and brown kids ending up with the lowest scores in education. The lack of education is why black and brown adults aren't able to get higher paying jobs.
You sound like a bitch
So if I understand correctly, the property taxes "go up" because your property gets re-appraised. Not because your taxes go from say 2.8 to 3.0, correct? -- And how does the appraisal work? Can you get your own or does the county/state just automatically do that?
Correct. County does appraisals, and the majority of us protest the values every year. With the housing prices going way up, that definitely affects taxes.

If you don’t know Texas have there own power grids so we in Texas will still have power if half or whole United States loses power

I’ve lived in Texas and even if I am conservative I will also vote depending on my belief. I also don’t like the property tax. dude.....that's the main thing i feel living in texas and not CA. FREEEEEEEE! i say it to my wife often too.
There are companies that will fight your property taxes every year. I live outside of Houston and the company I have will protest any property increase every year. If they save you money you pay them half of what they saved you. I paid them $145.00 this year, last year I didn’t pay them anything. Giving them half is better than giving the county the full amount.
That's awesome! I'm still looking for a similar reputable company that doesn't charge high fees up in Dallas area.
Texas here I come!!!
Please explain the taxes
Why didnt u move to Houston ? The houses are cheaper there.
Tech jobs in DFW
All of those travel options are within hours of me in central CA. You have to fly to another state. And enjoy those property taxes!
IKR That is so stupid. Go to Colorado to Ski. How about Lake Tahoe or Big Bear lake?

I appreciate this. I still have to get out and visit these places to experience them for myself
I am also concerned if ca is having a brain drain right now... 🐈
I believe so, although even though many of my professional friends are leaving the state, I know people still entering. It's a revolving door.
@@EdwardInTX Ya, I already rejected it, sadly. Maybe next time when circumstances have improved 🙏
Thx for posting! Happy New Year!
happy new year!
Yup. Check my other videos on it!
Are you liberal or conservative?
Leaving to Texas at the beginning of October and I’m so happy I’m leaving cali for good!
Awesome!

I thank you so much for your vidja! I am planning on moving to Texas asap. I am doing my research right now, and saving money. All my beliefs, and lifestyle is and belongs in Texas. I left Sacramento in 2006 right before the housing market exploded. I bought and paid off my 325k home (3800sqf) in Austin. The gas cost about half of California. Right after 3 months I moved to Austin, I got my conceal carry license and bought all the toys that I wanted which are illegal in California.

That’s really surprising. Wow!
A lot of ppl don’t talk about the property tax thing
I think my largest concern with leaving California for Texas is that in the area I live in, I can go to target, pick up some quick lunch, and head back home in less than 25 minutes.
I lived in Florida for one year and the far driving to do menial tasks is horrible.
There’s no place I’ve seen like Orange County, but the downside is that you pay for it.
Orange County is a very nice area.
@@EdwardInTX Very much so. I've always been considering a move either way. My politics don't align with California. I've always felt like an outsider here.

PaLeez!.. I will stay in California. NO THANK YOU. I will be going to the Beach tomorrow and the SALT CREEKE GRILL IN El Segundo. Right by the Beach. I love California.

Thank you for your video! Appreciate it. I wonder if the suburbs (such as frisco, Plano) safe in general?
I'm born and raised in The Core City's of Dallas..and You're right..cost have defenitly Risen here
I was thinking about Relocating to the Frisco area..but seems cost for a House and apartments there are just as expensive...I'm not looking for anything too Cheap or anything too expensive.
But being able to walk to grocery stores and what not is a plus..
I'm considering the MidCities..maybe even the Fortworth area...where it's semi cheaper
Great points. Hope you can find your place!
Could you make a video about the weather in Dallas? Is it too hot or too humid? I'm living in California, really liked the weather here, so weather is a big factor for me when considering moving to other places.

you will see that further down the road you will move further east to North Carolina or Florida .You might want to end up in Florida.East Coast is the best .If you live in Texas and are finacially well, you might want to buy a second home in Florida, and invest in the Florida real estate market .Also you might want to buy land in the North Carolina mountains;it is beautiful up there..
I just bought a property in Florida earlier this month. Will update in a new video. I agree with you.

yeah definitely video on taxes on how you are still winning :) people need more videos like this, theres a massive interest of people trying to escape california politics and the ruin that the one party democrats have created in the last 10-20 years
How do you feel about the hot weather? And what do you do to cope with the long summer?
It's hot like Las Vegas in the summer. Typically 96 high, 80 low for straight 3 months. Not really good for being outdoors or playing sports as you get tired easy. Typically I get a lot of good use from the pool and I'd also travel to a different place to escape the heat. Otherwise, just A/C blasting wherever I go.
Hi! Congrats on the successful move and settling down. I'm moving from CA to NJ: I hear you need to pay California taxes for 10 years, even after you move away. Can you share if you know anything about this? Or if you've experienced anything like it?
That's odd. I haven't heard this rule, but I moved back in 2017. Haven't heard anything from CA's tax board.
Newsom is talking about doing that, but I’m sure it would be struck down by the Supreme Court.
It WHY on earth are you going to NJ? Good heavens, the taxes!!!
Been researching north Dallas lately (Frisco, Plano, Allen) and this video has been very useful. Thx!

Thank you for not bringing the failing Democrat ideas and philosophies to TX. A lot of us are moving to Texas to get away from Democrat run states because we see that their policies do not work! Keep TX Red!
Totally, I feel the same way. I'm glad to see TX red again this election.
Democratic run states are the best.. NOT Oppressive. Please stay in TEXAS. "Don't texas my California" Texas has homeless too.
