2023 Beijing BJ212 Sniper in-depth Walkaround
The Beijing BJ212 SUV has a significant place in the history of the Chinese automobile industry as a true veteran and legend. Although it shares similarities in design with the Soviet UAZ-469 all-terrain vehicle, Beijing entered the transporter market seven years earlier in 1965, initially developing the model for the army.
The new BAW BJ212 Sniper boasts a new chassis that is unified with the modern military model BAW Warrior and is designed to handle larger loads. Unlike the independent suspension of previous models, a continuous axle has reappeared at the front, while the springs have been installed in a circle, making the joints the envy of other army vehicles.
The BAW BJ212 Sniper comes exclusively with a 2.4-liter Mitsubishi 4K22 turbo gasoline engine, produced in China under license, and has been offered for the 212 models for several years, producing 211 hp and 320 Nm. It is paired with six-speed mechanics and classic Part Time four-wheel drive with a reduction gear.
The Sniper comes only with a four-door closed body. External changes are minimal, with the nameplate “212” now displayed on the front instead of the BAW brand logo, and LED headlights are now an option instead of simple halogen ones.
The spartan interior is carried over from the base model of the 2020 sample, although there is an option to upgrade to a touchscreen media system instead of the standard radio.
