SUCH GREAT RESOURCE FOR NEW AUDIENCE. THANK YOU. SOMETIMES WE SHOULD START AT THE BEGINNINGS OF ONES LIFE AND ERA IT WAS IN. ELVIS WASN'T PERFECT , HE WAS HUMAN AND DID HIS BEST TO BE GOOD TO ALL. I grew up being a Beetles and Bee Gees fan i discovered Elvis on youtube. After watching Elvis i am only interested in him. I now understand why he is a Legend When i hear him he gets into my soul. No one will ever compare to him. He had everything voice, talent, charisma and of course looks. thank you. Please react to TRYING TO GET TO YOU live 68 comeback special.
His voice is so powerful! He looked gorgeous and he always puts his whole heart & soul in every song! He feels it! Everyone on that stage is Magical! ❤
I was raised on Elvis and heard him 10 times, a hundred times, a thousand times and loved every time! Hard to believe some people aren't saturated with Elvis! What a treat for them now, and all! Thanks MrsPenPal!
Same. My mom and dad told me that when I was three I watched Aloha From Hawaii when it first aired in 1973. I don’t remember, but all I ever remember is Elvis. He still brings chills to me and tears to my eyes. His singing ability, along with the soul he possessed, was just on a level on his own.
Ronnie Tutt was the drummer and Elvis always surrounded his voice with the best musical performers. Thank you for your kind words of truth about my favorite performer. ❤
The song That's Alright Mama is considered by many (me included) as the first Rock and Roll song. Recorded in 1954, it's a start to finish barnburner. Amazingly there are no drums on the studio track. Yet its beat is infectious. That's Alright Mama fuses, for the first time, R&B, Gospel, Soul and Rockabilly... Creating a brand-new genre. This song is the proverbial ground zero for what we all know now as ...Rock and Roll. Cheers, RNB
My favorite Elvis performance. The meaning is that he has survived many heartaches in his life and up until now he has not lost his faith and maintainedhope. Now that he has had his son taken away from him, he may be done. He’s telling God thart this mountain (meaning heartache and test of his faith) may be one test too many and too difficult to overcome. Its the biggest heartache he has ever had to face and he doesn’t know if he can make it over the mountain.
I'm a 54yr old man,and this song still brings tears to my eyes! I grew up with an alcoholic Dad,but the Lord gave me a mountain, and i called that mountain Mom! About ten years before my Dad passed away,i let go of all that and would take him to his doctor appointments and do the running around for him! I am so glad i let go how i felt about my Dad! Him and my Mom are gone now, along with my brother and Baby Girl! Thought about ending myself a while back, and i heard a voice say, live for them! ❤
Most incredible singer and performer I have ever heard. He makes you feel like he is really going through the story in this song. My heard is still pounding. Thank you for listening to this song. Loved your reaction.
Awesome performance from E. His voice is phenomenal, powerful . The best singer by far! Nice reaction. Please react to Elvis singing Tomorrow never comes. A true performance of his vocal ability.
Hi . MS pen pal, love the blue hair and Elvis climbed everyone of those mountains, just like he sang , He felt the music in his heart and soul and he made everyone know that he was singing just to them , He always said, If it wasn't for my fans , I wouldn't be here and I really don't see that' anymore , He never turned down an auotograph., Unless he was being shoved in a car to get away , this concert was watched by more people than the first time a man walked on the moon and no one can touch that , I was 13 yrs old when this was playing and I have it etched in my heart forever and Always , just like Elvis is A Man Among Men who changed so many ways to the world , it's a shame that Entertainer, aren't this way today , Tcb1935
Incredible moving and strong performance full of feeling by Elvis. And great performance by everyone else too on stage🎼🎙🎶🎵❤️🎵🎶. Thank you for your reaction😊
Hi MrsPenPal, from a concert on June 21st 1977 exactly 8 weeks before his untimely death, ELVIS performed an INCREDIBLE version of his song 'Hurt'. Unbelievable performance well worth checking out!😀♥
Legendary performance by Elvis...and that drummer Ronnie Tutt. Now they both rest in the halls of the Eternal. The whole TCB band is incredible. Bass player Jerry Scheff, lead guitarist James Burton and pianist Glen Hardin are still alive. Rhythm guitarist John Wilkinson has also sail to the West though.
Wow - what an amazing and powerful performance! First time watching it. When Elvis does a cover, he not only makes it his own, he does it in a way that you think he is singing from his own experience. In regards to the lyrics, he had some "mountains to climb" when growing up, (was poor, bullied, treated badly by others for being different) but as far as I remember he had a great relationship with his mother, and loved her very much. He was also religious and of the Christian faith. Hope that helps with the lyrics. Next time the Elvis train rolls along, I will be sure to board it. He did a great cover of Unchained Melody which might be a good choice for the next. Great reaction, nice to have you back, and I hope we don't have to wait so long for your next reaction.
It was at this time that he was going thru his divorce and would be separated from his child. Sad song, but stunningly sung as always. What a performer! Will always love him and the music he gave to this world.
Charley Hodge told me that after MLK and JFK assassinations and the turmoil of the 1960s Elvis' music shifted and if you listen to his song selections you can hear just how much he cared. In his 68 comeback special he sang "If I Can Dream" as the finale, which was intended to directly impact the "Human Rights Movement" and hopefully bring the start of healing in this country. Or at the very least help people to start looking and feeling there needed to be a change. In 1969 he released "In the Ghetto" which was another touching song that was written by Mac Davis. Mac said that Elvis changed the song by adding another line at the very in. The line he added was another "And his mama cried". Mac went on to say that he was very upset when he heard that Elvis added it but he also said that when he heard Elvis sing it he knew that it added a whole new dimension to the song that it really needed. If you haven't heard these two songs it is definitely worth listening to them and keep in mind all the turmoil that the country was in during the time he recorded them. It really changes or should I say that it brings a lot more meaning to the music. Thank you for your review. I truly enjoyed it.
Hey pretty Lady, so glad to see this reaction, Elvis tears your heart with this one. He could make you feel everything. This whole special was wonderful. Another one that is so heart felt is "Without Love" (there is nothing) from this Memphis album. it is so beautiful and seldom played. Thank you for this beautiful reaction, Be Blessed.
Thanks for your reaction. 😀 Yes Elvis never did anything half measured, Even his wife said when he was going to bed he would fix his collar and everything. Ha
Excellent reaction to the greatest to ever do it. You “get” Elvis, and I can see that you appreciate the whole all around excellence of Elvis. If you want to experience Elvis at his greatest, I’d suggest listening to some of his undubbed takes. Elvis was at his best just sitting and singing with his band. I can send you some suggestions if you want.
MrsPenPal- This is one of my fav Elvis songs. Ronnie Tutt was the one on the drums. He was Elvis drummer and a great one. You should react to Elvis song called Separate ways. Its a sad one but still very good.
Elvis sings about the struggles of his childhood and says that he overcame one hill after another, but his wife leaving him and taking his son with her is a mountain, not a hill. He may not be able to climb it. He mentions that the Lord gave him the mountain, with the idea being that the Lord gives people struggles for them to overcome and to grow. But, he may not be able to handle this mountain.
In reality his twin brother died at birth, his mother lost a child, his father went to jail for a few months and yes, his wife left him after six years and took his daughter Lisa Marie with her. His songs are so believable because he connects to them.
You use the word "stress" regarding certain words, vowels, etc. & I call it his "up-and-down" way of phrasing words. It's very obvious in the song "Tomorrow Never Comes" (ua-cam.com/video/QhYtB7pjkS0/v-deo.html) where he takes a one syllable word & makes it into 2 syllables, & a 2 syllable word into 3 syllables as he goes "up & down" with the word. It has to be listened to very carefully -- some people just don't hear it or recognize it.The song builds & builds to a glass shattering finish. I think it was unique to him -- I don't know of anyone who did that or does that, & the best part of it is that it was a totally natural way for him to sing -- it was not forced or "put on."
I'm not seeing many comments explaining the meaning of the song so I'll go ahead and do that here. So in the verses it is describing challenges in his life that he considers "hills" that he was easily able to climb, aka challenges that he easily overcame. However, the chorus is describing whatever else is happening to him as a mountain because its going to be much harder to overcome than his previous challenges he's faced, aka its a lot harder to climb a mountain than a hill. It is never specifically said what this challenge is, leaving it open to the singer's interpretation. Hope that helped!
I came up with a "fantasy" concert, I could really imagine myself watching and listening to Elvis and these artists: Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley (if I could hear Elvis sing some duets with Lisa Marie to). Would you go and watch them perform if you could, or who would you like to see and hear if you could choose anyone???
The drummer was Ronnie Tutt . Here are some of his spiritual songs: Amazing Graze, How great though art, I found this version of this great song: How great thou art A Capella: ua-cam.com/video/Be5y0rMBIFI/v-deo.html You'll never walk alone, Crying in the chapel, Take me home precious lord, Why me Lord (written by Kris Kristofferson), I'm not sure if it's a gospel song Help me and many more, he also made several Christmas songs, also some type of Blues songs. . Here are some ballads and other songs: Green Green grass of home, Softly as I leave you, Tomorrow never comes, An American Trilogy, Snowbird, Blue Christmas, Walk a mile in my shoes (listen to the words he says in the beginning), Love letters, Devil In Disguise, My Boy, Angel, Don´t, Heartbreak Hotel, Old MacDonald, Crying in the chapel, Moody blue, That's Someone You Never Forget (tribute to his mom Gladys), Please don't stop loving me, Oh happy day, Music is the food of your soul, Don't, You gave me a mountain, Unchained melody, My Way, Suspicious minds, In the Ghetto (written by Mac Davies), Memories (written by Mac Davies), If I can dream that is a tribute (parts of it is taken directly from the I can dream speech by MLK) to Martin Luther King JR and senator Robert Kennedy, What now my love, Walk a mile in my shoes (listen to the words in the beginning), Welcome to my world, Make The World Go Away, I'll Remember You, Let me be there, Bridge Over Troubled Water, It's Now Or Never (O Sole Mio), An American Trilogy, Hurt, Sweet Caroline, Just Pretend, What now my love, Are you lonesome tonight (laughing version, or not), Oh Danny Boy (for you Irish people), a song that many might not know that he sung it is this one, I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, Blue suede shoes, Hound dog, I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water, My Boy, Solitaire, well remember that he sang over 800 songs, yes most of them Covers, but that made the artists that he covered more popular and they also got some money from it... Have you heard Elvis and his backup singers A Capella (without instruments) before, otherwise listen and enjoy this one and you will finally find out how GREAT his voice was: ua-cam.com/video/Be5y0rMBIFI/v-deo.html . Some a bit unusual, songs people might have missed: Stranger in my own town (Blues jamming X rated), Lawdy miss Clawdy, He Touched Me, Let it be me, Blueberry Hill, Turn around Look at me, A mess of blues, Pledging my love Another video you might want to see is Elvis a Generous heart, or Elvis Presley The king of kindness, ua-cam.com/video/GLzGS3qKZbk/v-deo.html (Elvis won a Grammy video) !! There are some videos of when Elvis joking and messing up, he loved to joke around and pretend that he did not have control, but he had total control, he actually conducted his musicians and back up choirs all the time! If you like to listen to tributes, then these might be good: The Memphis Lallaby (If you love Elvis music and story, this might make you cry) ua-cam.com/video/xBZoj1gf_VQ/v-deo.html Love Me Tender (James Brown): ua-cam.com/video/zrBk0WErpHU/v-deo.html Walking in Memphis (Marc Cohn): ua-cam.com/video/PgRafRp-P-o/v-deo.html The Letter (Wayne Newton) This might even contain Elvis written chorus, I don't know if it was his words, or not: ua-cam.com/video/zB2xKw7V46M/v-deo.html . I came up with a "fantasy" concert, I could really imagine myself watching and listening to Elvis and these artists: Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Freddie Mercury, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley. Would you go and watch them perform if you could, or who would you like to see and hear if you could choose anyone???
What he's talking about this time you gave me a mountain a mountain I may never climb sometimes people go through life and go through things that they just don't think that they can get through and at that time he's saying I don't think I can get through this s*** and when people generally think I don't get through this s*** they think about death

Elvis is one of those singers who sounds better live than on record.
When he shifts gears into Power with his delivery, he is incredibly Powerful, and a perfect voice, I guess that is why they call him the King!

I think 'mountain' means the challenges and difficulties of life.
I love to see someone else feel this the same way I do... thank you for playing this. You're beautiful. 😘
You gotta be kidding me. Ouf i have goosebumps. Now i could say there Elvis and there the rest. My mother use to say Elvis was a Angel on earth.
Elvis: "I got a thing about you baby" or "The next step is love"
Thanks
The word legend is banded about too easily today. But in the case of Elvis it is not strong enough a description.👑👑👑

MrsPenPal- This is one of my fav Elvis songs. Ronnie Tutt was the one on the drums. He was Elvis drummer and a great one. You should react to Elvis song called Separate ways. Its a sad one but still very good.
Love your reviews !! Check out the soulful sound of "It hurts me" by Elvis.
This probably sounds weird … but I love the way Elvis sings 8:04 consonants. Much love ❤️
That Dummer ..... Well hus name is ....Ronie Tutt ...... He was GREAT !!!!
👑✌️
Jestem Poland I czuję podobnie
Can you please play trouble from the film King creole please
Elvis sings about the struggles of his childhood and says that he overcame one hill after another, but his wife leaving him and taking his son with her is a mountain, not a hill. He may not be able to climb it. He mentions that the Lord gave him the mountain, with the idea being that the Lord gives people struggles for them to overcome and to grow. But, he may not be able to handle this mountain.
You know Marty Robbins composed and record the song. He had a tough childhool and he and Mari had their own struggles.
Cieszę się, ze ktoś czuję fo samo

Surrender by Elvis, studio song from 1961.
In reality his twin brother died at birth, his mother lost a child, his father went to jail for a few months and yes, his wife left him after six years and took his daughter Lisa Marie with her. His songs are so believable because he connects to them.
Thank you for reacting to the Elvis live performances, you have a new subscriber.
Welcome nice to meet you!
Dear ChefBarb Thank 😊
Marty Robbins sang that song and wrote that was his story behind that song
I came up with a "fantasy" concert, I could really imagine myself watching and listening to Elvis and these artists:

There are some videos of when Elvis joking and messing up, he loved to joke around and pretend that he did not have control, but he had total control, he actually conducted his musicians and back up choirs all the time!

I came up with a "fantasy" concert, I could really imagine myself watching and listening to Elvis and these artists:
Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Freddie Mercury, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley.
