Was one of the most cinematic parts of witcher 3. "And we did, for three days. Then they smashed us" Roche clinging to a fallen country and a dead king with almost no hope, true Temerian.

Vernons bittersweet ending of a vassal state is the best and only outcome for a Temeria wich at least bares the old lilies....

@@theguyeverybodylikes9667 Nope, Temeria is basically KINDA done for anyway.
In Djikstra's ending, Roche/Ves/Thaler are dead, and so their vision of Temeria dies with them.
Same goes for Radovid's ending.
The one ending where they live is the ending where the Empire wins, and even then, they're a suzerain state, i.e. a "subject" state, where they're basically the Empire's bitch, but it only has some modicum of autonomy, like Toussaint. Hardly what you would call "rising again", but not completely "done for" either.
@GreenTea better something than nothing. I always loved Foltest (even if he screws his own sister), he gave such an awesome battle speech in the Polish version while we were heading on that wooden tower for the walls of the castle, he was an awesome king that I remember it to this day, so charismatic, if I could swap him for Letho I would do it, even if I like Letho too. A pity he did not kill Henselt in his stead. I think Roche saw the king the same way, and was devastated as were I and Geralt probably too. The first game was in Temeria, don't remember quite where the second game took place, and played it only from Roche's perspective. I guess that explains Ves' coldness towards men, even if it was Geralt, if you know what happens to her.

@@MDUmairKh Thank goodness there's other people who feels this way. I simply loved witcher 2! All the politics, background plotting and how the story tied together and how you got the full picture through separate playthroughs and everything made sense. The plot was so damn well constructed that I haven't seen better after witcher 2. Not denying that witcher 3 is in amazing game but I personally liked Witcher 2's story more than Witcher 3's. I sometimes felt witcher 3 story was quite all over the place but that comes with being an open world game in the first place I guess.
Witcher 2 being a linear story allowed for much better and lot more clear storytelling.

When this music kicked in. OMG the nostalgia. Roche one of my favourite characters and I think one of Geralt's best mates even if you side with Iorveth.
Letho, Roche, assassins of kings... How the tables have turned... Great game, great character.
I think I remember this song from the Witcher 2 and it felt like a soldier having hope for the future but in The Witcher 3 at 0:49 this theme seemed more like as if a soldier felt like there is no hope of winning against his enemy and he has to accept that fate.

Was so great getting to this point and hearing those chords again.
But sad to see Vernon reduced to basically the thing he despised.
One of my most challenging and impactful choices in W3 was after saving Ves with Roche. Storm clouds were thundering overhead, the Nilfgardian Captain was crawling away and bleeding out, and there I was, left with the moral choice of whether or not to take a man's life with this song playing.
Roche has to be my favorite sidekick / companion in video games.

Goddamnit this music gives me goosebumps... I don't know why, I played W2 a year before W3 and played W1 afterwards but still the lady of the lake and assassins of kings themes give my a... nostalgic feeling! :D Weird.
Lord Helmchen So you must listen to these musics : "Believe" from TW1 and "Dwarven stone upon dwarven stone" from TW2. Personally, it makes me nostalgic even if i've played TW1 & TW2 after TW3 ^^

Anyways, in The Witcher 2, Geralt was accused of killing Flotest, and if you choose Roche’s path you’ll help Roche to kill king Henselt. So they probably mean the latter.

it's just that the Roche's storyline was supposed to be canon in W2.
The fact is, non game is canon.
Funny how they released a comic that followed Iorveth's path as canon.
In true fashion, taking Iorveth's path doesn't prevent Geralt from working with Roche in TW3, though they aren't allies by the end of Iorveth's storyline, they aren't enemies either and to the very least, we can see Roche respects Geralt.

You may not know, but when meeting Maria Louisa La Vallete (Aryan mother, who is also the guy that lead the defence of La Valette castle at the beginning of TW2) while Geralt is looking for clues to where Dandelion could be, this theme also plays

I had shivers when I recognized that theme from the 2nd game.
I noticed that Roche and his partisans are very similar to the army of Craiova during the Second World War. 2 powerful armies (Reich - Nilgaard, Communists - Redania) are fighting on the territory of Temeria. Roche is a racist and patriot who fought against the occupiers of Nilfagaard (Reich) and against other races: elves and dwarves (Ukrainians and Belarusians). Since it was made by the Poles, and do not be surprised that it was not made by accident
Every note of this soundtrack puts you in a frame of mind, but this piece especially haunts me.
Roche was one of the most focused character in the game... He is always so focused on better of Temeria...

But stories are whispered throughout the Temerian resistance camps of a small band of humans so indomitable, that they faced against the Wraiths of Morhogg themselves...and lived to tell the tale...
Well Jarre gives count of the scoia' tael in the future in the long run in the lady of the lake novel. Jarre wrote the Annales seu Cronicae Incliti Regni Temeriae the national epic of Temeria. though it deals with the other side of the Second Northern war during the battle of brenna it does state that nilfgaard has more sources than their own. the northern kingdoms go under the empire of nilfgaard in the book sources from the later times after stygga castle and the rivain program.

Not having Ioreth as an option really blew. Sociatel really didnt have any spot light despite being a massive part of the books and last 2 games

I couldn't stand Roche in TW2AoK, probably because I made Geralt take Iorvath's path. But in TW3, Roche is literally your right-hand man, and Ves can's stand you. Ves is the reason Geralt has this tattoo of a lady on his neck: they were trying to be bros.
With right coice he is sort of friend in W2 even when you take Ioreth path. A bit salty about that choice, but doesnt hold gudges about that without elven like temper tantrums XD
