Had this when it initially came out, still have a bottle of the inaugural release. Really enjoyed it, an excellent intro into pot still for people who haven't had it before and are trying to get into whiskey. Loved the finish on this, lingers with a very mild peppery/pot still finish
Hey Matt! Awesome video! I have been able to have this whisky and gin - all 3 gins - all excellent! I prefer whisky of course but occasionally I have a delicious gin cocktail! These are wonderful spirits! I enjoyed your thoughts so much! This is another distillery that I'd love to tour when I am back in Ireland and we likely will be at some point! My husband has some aunts, uncles, cousins and one set of grandparents in Ireland! Thanks so much!! Cheers! :-)
Matt, have you tried their Marsala cask finished whiskey? I saw this bottle in Dublin but passed on it because I had not heard of them. I may need to order a bottle.
Huge fan of their gins but this whiskey missed the mark for me. Can't remember if they declare the age but it felt a bit young to me, found it slightly rough around the edges so maybe it should have been aged a little longer. And at €55-60 per bottle it's well below other whiskeys in that price bracket, if it was in the €30-€40 range like 3 Swallow and Bush 10 I'd pick up the occasional bottle because it is a decent whiskey
Ah, not every whiskey is for everyone, but yeah, I expect as they've got more stock maturing in future years we'll see those age statements. (I also picked this bottle up on sale, so that helps me enjoy it a bit more!)
@@ryancunningham9429 it's a Tuath glass, designed for Irish Whiskey, it's similar to a glencairn, but with a few features that make it easier to drink from and aerate whiskey
What whiskeys do you think are hidden gems?
the May Loag whiskies are excellent, not well known. I think Keeper's heart is known but a little under appreciated

Glad you enjoyed it, and yeah, it's a great intro to pot still which DOESN'T come from the Midleton distillery!
Longtime big fan of their Gunpowder Gin, since trying it at the Shelbourne. Nice idea to try the whiskey.
It's quite a good whiskey, and I suspect it'll get better and better in the years to come!
It’s a beautiful drop Matt.
Yeah! It's nicely made and the little bit of oats just helps it stand out from the crowd too!
This definitely sounds like a great hidden gem 😊
I think so too!

Sounds like a lot of great reasons to visit here! And yeah, the distillery is definitely on my list of places to visit!
it does sound like a hidden gem. thanks for sharing. cheers
It really is!

I've not tried the Marsala cask, but I really enjoyed the pinot noir cask finish so I would be confident that the Marsala is a nice one too!

MATT!! This is another bottle I need to grab!!! I think I've seen that Gin, so I might be in luck!!! SLAINTE!!!
With the different flavours of gin they make, I think you'd have fun experimenting with their lineup!
What glass are you using? A flaired glencarin?

Hi Matt
What whiskey would you recommend for a neat whisky drinker around the 80 euro or less mark
Thanks
In that range, I'd say something like the Powers John's Lane would be a nice neat sipper
