- This is the third and final episode of a regular Terraria playthrough with one key difference. Every space of open air is replaced with lava. Air usually makes up about half of the average Terraria world so this world is about half lava. We're going to have to find some creative strategies to get through this one...

Galaxy was my childhood, but after I beat Mario Odyssey (I'm at around 800 moons btw) the controls felt clunky and I wasn't used to them. Though I hope I'll get used to them.

In my 1500+ hours of gameplay, I have never ONCE considered using the Eye of Cthulhu as an instant potion before.

I believe the grenade launcher 100% drop was so that the Cyborg's move-in trigger could be any rocket launcher, rather than just being post-plantera.
Not that you could get another rocket launcher, since the rest are post-plantera dungeon.
Its basically the same logic as the gun drop off the first crimson heart or shadow orb. They wanted the first opportunity for the new weapon type with a corresponding npc to be guaranteed.
The name being changed from "flooded in lava" to being "air is lava" actually made me believe there was a new challenge

What was it changed to? I'm on console and don't 1.4

Are you familiar with the Void Sack? It's basically a second inventory that automatically collects anything your main inventory is too full to hold.

You can only move around using the anti-grav hook! (you would have to go grab it from another world or give it to yourself though)
You could block off the sky with tons of leaves across the whole world so you can grapple onto that. All you have to do is just break through the leaves and then you’re in space
That mixed with hooks like dissonance and squirrl hook would be good

Idea: A run where you could not use a single buff.
Includes: Minecarts, banners, light pets, mounts, placed objects like sunflowers, summons, certain set effects, and non-healing potions and consumables
Excludes: Debuffs, pets, ale and sake.
What about Dryad buff?

I had an interesting challenge idea. Terraria with only fishing crates
Rules for the challenge:
1. Journey mode is allowed to avoid spending 200 years fishing up crates (however, difficulty must be set to x1.00, godmode off, no speeding up/freezing time, no duplicating anything (other than fishing crates)
2. No boss drops (that would make the challenge kinda non-existent
3. No world/enemy drops, with the exception of boss summoning items, and golden keys (no wood from trees, coins from enemies, no loot from chests, etc)
4. You can use hard mode crates once you reach hard mode
5. Only use fishing crates (and their drops obviously)
That’s just my outline for this challenge, and feel free to tweak the rules as you see fit. I doubt you’ll see this, but if you do, please consider it for a video! Thanks!

I used to have a similar problem when fighting Golem. The problem is the platform in the middle of your arena, it doesn't help very much with dodging or getting a better angle, it mostly lets Golem jump onto it and block the arena making it hard to fly over Golem and if you go below Golem he falls on top of you.
With the Terrablade it got a big buff in 1.4.1 (the same time it's crafting recipe was changed) increasing it's damage and speed by a notable amount.
as for the Goblin army not spawning for a while, the lava probably stopped it from spawning, until you made the arena then you just got unlucky after that.
I think that the reason why the grenade launcher always drops first on normal mode is for the same reason as shadow orbs/crimson hearts always dropping the gun first. It's a new weapon type not available before that point so they made sure that new players could experiment with it. could be wrong though.
Wand of Sparking crafting the Terra Blade to defeat the Golem was like when the anime protagonist has to go on an ebic journey to obtain some MacGuffin to defeat the main villain.

Idea: make a raft play through where majority of world is water and u on raft with a chest with:
25 dirt
1 grass seed
1 mud
1 jungle grass seed
20 worms
Fishing pole of ur choice
Lihzhard altar
3 lihzahrd power cells

Make ton of bubble block preventing water going into underworld then make a teleporter to the underworld so you don’t drown on the way.
Add a small dungeon island

Idea: COMPLETELY filled in terraria. No caves, dungeons, underworld, or ANYTHING. Oh, and no sky too. Just all a block of ground world gen.
I would like to see a playthrough with a fish bowl, is interesting the fact that you can't equip a helmet and you need to find things to breath
Here's my two cents on the Grenade Launcher drop: post-plantera is when the rocket subclass of the ranger class is fully unlocked, and the cyborg NPC that you get after defeating plantera is essentially the arms dealer for rockets. The Grenade Launcher is meant to get you started on that.
Fishing only (except for life crystals) So you can use fish as weapons (Minishark and Megashark are allowed)
You can only get bars from crates
Angler rewards are allowed
Potions come from crates
Accessories come from crates
You can use lockboxes for weapons
You can use duke fishron drops
You get to have the bug net for 20 bait
You can use items from biome crates
blood moon fishing is allowed
Bullets from the arms dealer are allowed
My recent playthrough i did to return to the game (cuz i used to play on old-gen console with 1.2.4.1) it felt like the whole world was lava because im garbage at the game and i picked expert mode because of course, and the moon lord took 30 minutes to beat so thats cool. At least now i can watch this.

Why the Grenade Launcher is always drop 1:
It's the same reason you always get the Musket or Undertaker from the first Orb or Heart. The Grenade Launcher is the first one you can obtain of it's subclass as of the time it was added, so making it the first to drop allows players to get better access to a more versatile playthrough, which the devs intended.
The grenade launcher is dropped by plantera the first fight every time so the cyborg can spawn.
well then couldn't re-logic just say "oH yEaH, pOsT-PlAnTeRa = CyBoRg" instead of forcing a rocket launcher cuz what if the player inventory was full
I believe the grenade launcher is to do with the cyborg; something along the lines of "Cyborg should spawn when you get a launcher like Arms Dealer spawns when you get a gun, but that's too RNG so we'll just make Plantera always drop one, but at that point why not just spawn him when Plantera dies"
I think Plantera dropping the grenade launcher on the fist kill is so that the players will always be introduced to the rocket ammo type because, if I'm remember correctly, the grenade launcher is the first weapon available that uses rockets as ammunition. That also only happens on Classic worlds or Journey worlds on below 2x enemy difficulty, which is what new players would most likely be playing.
When I saw that "I haven't crafted a Terra Blade in 6-7 years" part I felt like I was stabbed. I have been bamboozled. No matter how many swords they add that are better, I'll always make it, even if I'm playing mage or smthn, It's just such an important weapon to the game, for so long it WAS the endgame, and for me, it'll always have a weapon rack in my world.
Hey Wand of Sparkling, I don't think you know this, but this will be useful for later terraria challenges. If you bring the guide himself into hell, and use lava to kill him, I'm pretty sure it will summon the wall of flesh.

New ideas? Hmm... maybe you can edit the world height to be as short as possible instead of the width? The differences between the two playthroughs would be super entertaining
All secret world seeds at once? (Using T-Edit of course.)
For the Worthy generated world as a base.
The Jungle is basically hand converted into "Not the Bees!" generation.
Some things copy-pasted from 05162020, like one of the living tree biomes, the dungeon entrance (Be sure to move the dungeon indicator down of course.), a chest with moon lord's legs.
Do as you will with 05162021's stuff, could paint the whole world, but it will already make some bosses presumably tougher. Also maybe spawn on the beach.
All the NPCs that spawn with those seeds join the start, too, like a whole party at the beginning.

Grenade launcher always drops first because they used to make the Cyborg only spawn in after you got the first rocket launcher type weapon, kinda like the arms dealer, and they wanted to make sure people would get him.

Maybe you should try a nightmare world...
1. Open TEdit and fill in all open walls with Spider Walls, painted with Shadow paint. (avoid covering the temple and dungeon's walls)
2. Paint all the blocks in the world with Shadow Paint.
3. Have a Paint Sprayer in your inventory with several stacks of Shadow Paint, and have the Paint Sprayer effect always On. This way, everything you place is also nightmarish.
You could add something else to make this even worse... either way have fun : )
Kind of shocked that you haven’t made the terra blade in so long. I always love making it in a melee playthrough, makes me feel like I’ve finally hit the endgame and I’m nearly ready to take on moonlord

I think you really should take npcs happiness in mind, just build a couple of shoeboxes for Goblin and Mechanic underground, and boom you just got 23% discount for reforges

It's because earlier when I was in the army(my country forces you to serve the military for 6 months when you are 18) I always used various WW songs/remixes in a playlist to sleep because otherwise it would have been impossible to sleep for me. Worst time of my life.

The reason plantera always drops a grenade launcher first is because of the cyborg npc that spawns after plantera’s defeat (so the npc has a use without needing to fight until you get a grenade)

The Plantera rocket launcher thing is because the guide says something about building a robot with heavy weaponry from the jungle.
Said robot is the cyborg, moving in after plantera is killed.

How about only using weapons that drop from enemies/bosses?
i don't really remember how people usually do the golem fight because i've just gotten back into terraria, but i never did mine with platforms. all the mobility i needed was from wings and grappling the ceiling of the temple. to me, it looks like it made it harder because with the platforms, golem was always on the same level as you
The platforms in the Golem fight are what really screwed you over here. Normally you can just jump over him, and avoid 95% of his attacks.
I guess goblin army didn't arrive since they "Can't approach from the East/West" due to lava pools, also Plantera always drops a grenade launcher after you 1st defeat her because it unlocks the cyborg

A tip for the Gollum fight put platforms with pressure plates on them on either side suspended on platforms so that you are above go on then use clarify bullets or just normal ones if you move your mouse around a bunch you run across the platforms and go on can’t hit you most of the time it makes go on a horse easier because I find the golem fight hard to
Most likely the goblin army spawn thing was the result of you opening enough space due to your boss arena allowing them travel points to spawn in.
I want to try the challenges you do, but I’ve died 60 times in my expert FTW already, so I doubt doing this would go so well.

i have an idea for a challenge: every block (excluding stuff like ores and stuff like the dungeon and temple) are turned to sand, making the entire world a desert.
i have a myth:
if you put a fish bowl on your head and equip neptune’s shell, you will always be a merman.
the ending was SO heartwarming
i tried looking up the requirements for the goblin army. i first hypothesized if it had something to do with you opening gold chests in the dungeon (i kinda figured it was wrong). my best guess is you were never really near the original spawnpoint very often at 4:30 A.M. that is the time that it spawns and is one of the requirements for it to spawn.
Advise for golem fights, only make the top platform, not the bottom one. This stops golem from jumping at you and makes its lasers and arms the only threat
12:19 1/3 is also 100/300... RNG decides which 100 days can summon a goblin invasion out of the 300 total days.
I know im a bit late, but the reason plantera always drops the grenade launcher first kill is so that it makes sense why the cyborg moves in afterwards

Dry bombs probably hurt you when close because of the part where they kinda suck up any moisture nearby therefore basically sucking out your life force aka water. What a nice thought
I think an all achievement playthrough would be a cool idea. Have fun fishing!
Awesome video as always! For the next video, I feel like some cool challenges would be:
-No leaving the Caverns or underworld (Except for Old Man and Cultists)
-Only pre-hardmode weapons for the whole game
-Merfolk, you drown in air
-World filled with honey
honey world just sounds like pain.
Run idea: it’s very likely this isn’t possible, but a world withe every secret seed. One that has full jungle with lots of beehives, a corruption crimson switch daily, a painted blue dungeon underground, spawn by the ocean, have jungle mimics spawn, have a high amount of traps, the like.
Teleporting to a random life crestal with the potion happened to me before
I believe I've already suggested this, but I would love to see a Terraria playthrough while only using the lawn mower. I doubt you could actually defeat Moon Lord with it so you might just have to do a "how far can you get?" video. Nonetheless, if you're willing to go through the pain and effort of only using the lawn mower it would make for some great content!
Something that might be fun to try is a “technical pacifist class.” Only rule is you can’t directly attack enemies (intentionally at least), you must use mechanisms and the environment.

If you had a jungle key you could just launch it once every time you pass him and focus on dodging Golems attacks
One less thing to worry about could increase survivability
