May I avoid potentio meter??
If your display is ok and no dots, then you can avoid potentiometer. Sometimes the display won't be clear. In that cases you need potentiometer. Or else please try to buy a I2C converter which has inbuilt potentiometer, which you can use along with LCD. Also if you use LCD with I2C, you need only 4 wire connection.

Yes you can do. But if the display in the LCD is not clear, you need potentiometer to adjust the display.
Or else use LCD Display with I2C converter, in that the connection is simple and it has inbuilt potentiometer. Please check my playlist of LDC projects
