Awesome video, ive recently found a new interest in vintage bikes. I always wondered why some people preffered vintage over modern. The history of the motorcyle, that you added in this video, gave me a clear perspective on the stories, styles, and gradual progression of the motorcycle. I truly enjoyed this content...💯
Yeah it's such a fun thing to get into. So much to learn and so many different styles. What kind of old bikes do you like? Have you ridden an old bike before?
I had a 1959 BSA 650 that I bought when I was in the US Air Force in 1974. It was semi-chopped, didn't have the original tank, had extended forks, etc... all that cool Easy Rider stuff. I always wanted to restore it to original, but it got stolen out of my parents garage. I miss it to this day!
My first road bike was a Norton 850, I wish I had never sold it but it was eventually replaced by a BMW K75 which I love, I wish I could afford another Norton because nothing could ever replace it totally.
Back in '95 I bought a '50 Triumph Thunderbird project. It took me over five years to do a concourse restoration on her. It was thunder blue. I won first place in my class at Mid-Ohio swap meet and bike show. I still can't believe I sold it. It's the one that got away.
I appreciate how much your triumph bias comes through in all your videos as I have a similar bias for my CB450K4, but in this video you really did overlook some beautiful bikes such as the Ducati Desmo 250 and the Aermacchi Ala D’oro and Ala Verde.
Good selection. Those old bikes aren’t mechanically sound, but when it comes to visual perfection nothing touches them. I’d have added a Brough Superior and an Excelsior, but if choice is limited to 8, they’re a good selection.
Ducati ? Moto Guzzi ? Love the videos, and mostly I agree with the great looks of Bobbers / Classic British Cafe Racers. However, through the years, Japan produced some darn good looking bikes that fit the category of beautiful vintage like Yamaha 1957 YD-1. Would love to see videos on Vintage Japanese, and Vintage Italian. Thanks!
Good personal selection. my favourites were the Sunbeam, the Crocker and the little Russki, In 55yrs of riding I have ridden all the classics but have always been drawn towards the oddballs. Currently restoring a 1972 Pleneta Sport the Russian attempt at a performance two stroke. Very few of these ever made it to the UK, so there is a real challenge
Triumphs and BSA's were pretty classic looking with they're teardrop tanks of the 1960's and 70's, and the 1950's,but the peop[e back then knew a good looking bike would help sales.
You show the BMW R4 quite a lot; but do you know another German bike; "Zundapp" from the WWII years? It's very similar looking. A really beautiful bike, especially when without the side-car. A great motorcycle, and if you not familiar you should take a look.. 👍👍
I'm going to the Meecum motorcycle auction in a couple weeks and I'm going to do my ten best looking bikes there maybe some your bikes will be on my list too.
Crocker's where a limited edition overhead valve motor that was stuffed into proprietary cycle parts Harley-Davidson truck rocker court for patent infringement and brought a knucklehead into the court and Crocker bought a crock Arista court and the judge took one look at the Harley and told Harley you should be glad that Crocker isn't suing you they were roughly $100 more than a top-of-the-line Harley-Davidson which was about a week's pay back then
Dear sir, that' s your opinion, your choise...Every serious old biker could make completely different lists..Although I am Italian,I still shelter a 1973 Trident in my garage,I dont forget masterpieces such as Ducati 750 900 SS,Laverda SFC..Guzzi 850 Le Mans...Love for a bike Is a feeling that comes the inside..
Wow those are some awesome bikes. Where were you guys located back then? I was trying to find the original UK owner of my sunbeam. Does he still have bikes?
@@bartmotorcycle I grew up in Devon, England - he gave up the bikes many years ago when I got too big for for a motor bike and sidecar along with Mum! He's 88 now but still very active.
@@martingardener90 what year was the s8? The project one I had had the original registration with all the original owners from 1950 through 68. Lol I'm sure it wasn't yours but you never know!
The Crocker ... sensational ! The Sunbeam...err...not really. Have a look at a Sunbeam S7...a beauty i nearly bought 3x...but never did The Thunderbird = fantastic. The Beemer - superb...but they are so expensive now. And ...of course...I would recommend a Vincent... the massive 1000cc Shadow , which is a fortune- always Black - always stunning And, of course (2) - a Brough Superior .....unattainable these days
Norton sexier than a Bonny, yup right on. I took the innards out of those exhausts once, just to see what she sounded like…heavenly. Actually just hit the nail on the head, Norton is She, Triumph a He.
Why would you leave out the HD Sportster XLCH ? It was the meanest looking dog on the block, you could pick up more girls with a Sportster than any other bike in the 1960's. The late 60's TV series "Then came Bronson" show cased the XLCH. If you were young and wanted a motorcycle, that was the show to watch.
What? no BSA's.... The Triumph Bonneville is the best looking in this line up, although I love the old bikes. I am watching a 1929 BSA 350cc single cylinder with a think a three speed transmission on E-bay. I think it would be a good bike for the Cannonball run across the U.S. in the future. because it is a nice simple design and has a transmission.
no impressed.... as the owner of 78 vintage bikes.. half of these bikes you listed were about as sexxy as a sow.. you missed the most beautiful bikes of the century like INDIAN 4 the most sexxiest bike ever made hands down..
That Thunderbird is iconic and very desirable just like a thirties Harley! The Sportster just isn't! Thanks for the video anyway but your idea of sexy is a bit strange to me!
The Norton Commando shame it didn't run stopped or last as good as it looks it had a shopping list of mechanical defects shop of which were deadly in the sixties the big companies knew how to build motorcycles in the 70s they kept shooting themselves in the feet great bike Once Upon a Time not anymore
The only bike I ever bought for its beauty is a Velocette Venom Clubman. Black with gold striping. My Manx and my Vincent are good looking but the Velo is my favourite to look at. Never had a Triumph, their tank logo is plainly awful. Just my personal view.
Wait the first thing you say is if we think of Italian motorcycles or British motorcycles all the while you show videos of Japanese and German motorcycles?? WTF???
I kinda liked the Crocker but you left out my own Top3: Zündapp KS800 (A Goldwing 40 years before there was the Goldwing), the 1934 Koehler-Escoffier 1000 and of course the Vincent Black Shadow. Check these out: ua-cam.com/video/repvvBo_U3M/v-deo.html
There is nothing uglier on a motorcycle than "tip over bars", I have never seen them on a pre 70's Triumph TR6 or Bonniville and don't expect to because they just don't tip over when you park, and you couldn't push one over in a slow turn.
Are you kidding me , no vincent , brough superior , knucklehead excelsior henderson ace??? Those british bikes look no different than the honda CB's of the 70's , absolutely no style
In my opinion, the 1936 knucklehead was on the most prettiest made motorcycles. It was an innovator of style and Performance

The Norton's were definitely bad to the bone.
That Norton was a beautiful bike and quite a performer in its day,
Have you seen this? '53 Norton Manx vs pre-war BMW Kompressor ua-cam.com/video/yHNZaHcP3eg/v-deo.html
You get a Gold star for letting us hear a few....never heard of a Crocker before;very cool.
Of these offerings, The Norton Commando is The One.
I miss my 71 Norton Commando Combat every day. Should have bought another while the prices were reasonable.
The L300 looks sublime!
I just bought a 1929 Matchless T4. It's a beautiful machine.
Thats super cool👍👍✌️
Very cool in your perspective on old classic bikes
I’m pretty old but still sexy - I think. Nobody else seems to think so😂
Have a Royal Enfield 500, and that’s surely a sexy motorcycle👍
My first road bike was a Norton 850, I wish I had never sold it but it was eventually replaced by a BMW K75 which I love, I wish I could afford another Norton because nothing could ever replace it totally.

Bmw is awesome as hell
Its got all the triangles that make choppers so appealing.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing that with us. 😎 I love vintage motorcycles.
Good selection. Those old bikes aren’t mechanically sound, but when it comes to visual perfection nothing touches them. I’d have added a Brough Superior and an Excelsior, but if choice is limited to 8, they’re a good selection.
I had old bikes back in the 60's so you can imagine how old they would be now!
You nailed it! Thanks for putting these videos together. They've all been very worthwhile.
totally agree with you gimme the old bikes any day

The name is Izh, you should tell them. Planeta Sport was the model. I have one too. As well as a Jawa.
Just got a vintage triumph,no tax or mot plenty of cheap parts ,easy to work on and sooo much soul 👍
AWO 425 is the best for me
What? No Velocettes? Come on man!
No.6: "L-300" is the model name, the brand is "Red October", based on a DKW design.
I definitely wouldn't mind having one of the new Janus Halcyon 450's.
I can tell u never seen Jawa 250/353 or Jawa 350/354.. Best looking old motorcycle in the world in my opinion
Jawa 350 California 2 stroke twin.
Good list.

Old beemers rock, and the British twins
Great list !!
As for the XR750; it’s the only Harley I would ever deem worthy of buying.

How did the Vincent Black Shadow not make this list?

5:20: You´re talking about the R5, right? An adorable bike, indeed, Only what you show is the R4 400cc single, a completely different machine.
You missed Ariel square four, norton dominator 88 and jawa dohc
My Dad had a Triumph speed twin and a Sunbeam S8 when he was young. I would have included a 1950 Matchless G3L if it had been my list! Great video.

Always gets me when someone stands sidesaddle to kick start a bike. Afraid the centrestand might break with your weight?
"Rarely are the words 'old and sexy' used in the same sentence" - That's because you haven't met me.
I´m missing the coolest and most beautiful bike ever: Ducati 750SS

Rhystic Studies is that you?
Couldn't even include one Japanese bike? Honda CB450 Black Bomber would be an obvious choice.
The best looking old Japanese bikes are either British-inspired or straight-out copies.
technically innovative yes, fast yes, reliable yes, leak free yes, however I will attest the 65-66 CB450 is recognized worldwide as butt ugly.
Vincent Black Shadow Series C??
was there a bony with a sidewinder exhaust and mag wheels any body know??
Anyway,mamy thanks for your video

Personally, I only like the looks of old cars and motorcycles.
But are they electric?

you sold your s7?
Slap some specs. And spec that amazes
Make a motorcycles in movies list video.
vintage chopper with peanut tank are more sexy, they always shown in bike show untill today
Vincent Black Shadow
One of fbe most beautiful is the 1936 Puch P800. Google it. Too bad i cant attach pics

that L300 is actually a copy of the DKW Luxus 300, and usws for the time already outdated 2 stroke technology...

Basically all the Triumphs made after 1990 looks like shit in comparison to that old Triumph Thunderbird.
The only bike I ever bought for its beauty is a Velocette Venom Clubman. Black with gold striping.
My Manx and my Vincent are good looking but the Velo is my favourite to look at.

You sometimes use the word "roadster" when referring to vintage bikes. I know what a roadster CAR or PICKUP is, but not a bike 🤔
There is nothing uglier on a motorcycle than "tip over bars", I have never seen them on a pre 70's Triumph TR6 or Bonniville and don't expect to because they just don't tip over when you park, and you couldn't push one over in a slow turn.

There are no good looking Harley's. They are, without exception, junk on wheels.
