The Adidas Terrex AX4 is a trail shoe that came highly recommended to me as a budget friendly hiking shoe fit for rough terrain. I put this shoe through its paces in the Adirondack Mountains in New York and it lived up to the hype. If you’re looking for a shoe to hike in and don’t want to break the bank, be sure to give the Adidas Terrex AX4 a look.
I wear anywhere from 11-13 depending on the shoe but most are 12. Had to get these in 13. They do run a bit small. Just got them so I’m hoping I like em!
The sole is soft and wears out quickly, within 9-12 months. Other than that, great shoe!
Great review! I'm thinking of buying this shoe as my very first hiking shoes. Do you recommend this?
This is my very first hiking shoe and for the very limited amount of hiking that I do (2 to 3 hikes/year), they seem perfectly sufficient. When you factor the price in, I think these are pretty great. Many of the other shoes in this category are well over $100. If you hike very frequently you might want to choose something a step or two up from this.
@@tkreviews oh thanks for a quick reply! I don’t think I’ll hike often so I’ll buy this one. Thanks!
I picked up a pair today and the biggest problem I have with them is that they decided to glue the insoles so you can’t replace them with something better, I may be returning them because of that.
I did find that they do run a tad smaller than other brands.
Just bought a pair today in the UK and they were removable. I added another gel insole ontop of that to make them a bit more snug. Maybe they changed it or its just different regionally. Here in the UK, Adidas always come up half a size to a size smaller, but the poster may have been a bit more lucky or had a less weird foot shape than me
Hi there can I know if the insole has an arch or is it flat?
Feeling around the inside, it has a very slight arch but not as much as other shoes that I own. If you require a significant arch you would likely have to add your own. Hope this helps
can you use this for snow road?
I haven’t had the opportunity to test these in the snow yet but I will be as soon as we start to get snowfall in New York. I have a feeling they’ll do a great job based on the tread of the shoe.
Can I trail run in these?
I don’t think these would be the best choice for running. For me they’re a little roomy inside which works well with thick socks but I think they’d have too much movement on your foot for a run.
I wouldn't run in these. I've had them for over a year, great for walking and hiking, but I wouldn't trust them for running.
Are really water resistant?
no, its not gore-tex version
This version is not. But they do make a gore-tex waterproofed version. I sprayed these with a waterproofing spray which gave them a little bit of water resistance.
is it water resist ?
This particular pair isn’t. I sprayed them with waterproofing spray to help out. But they do sell a version of this shoe that is waterproof using gore-tex. Definitely worth checking out
better take them a bit too big, because your toes hitting the tip of the shoe while coming down... ***ouch***
Certainly want to avoid that!
