    Finding a room - place to live is ridiculously difficult in Groningen. Please consider this well as an international student. The University is not always communicating this problem so clearly, since they have clear interest in you studying there (the university receives a lot of money for every international student). Happy for the maker of the video that she found a place but there are many stories of student who have to sleep in tents or even on the streets because of this housing / university communication problem.

    Don't forget to mention that during your first months as an international, you'll either be homeless or paying 100 euros per night for a hotel/hostel, since finding student accommodation is nearly impossible. Consider yourself lucky if you've found your first accommodation by December, and be prepared to pay 700+ euros per month for a small room with shared facilities. The University doesn't care though, as long as you pay your tuition fees.

    • @naiapr
      @naiapr  3 роки тому +6

      Hi Sara thank you for the comment! It depends on what you want to get out of the city and on your budget, the reason why Groningen has so many students is because is in my opinion much more affordable than Amsterdam ❤️ but I think they are both great cities (Amsterdam is much more of a bigger city life while Groningen is smaller and in my opinion more of a student city) I hope this helps 😊 best of luck!

    • @drewsy4788

      Yeah it depends on what you want our of your city experience. If you want a more chill experience with many students around you at all times and a cheaper lifestyle, then I would say Groningen. If you want that crazy big city life with tons to do and a lot of job/internship opportunities then I would say Amsterdam. And since Amsterdam is at the center of Holland, you will get to easily travel to all the nearby major cities like Rotterdam and The Hague. Groningen is more remote so you would have to make due with what's there, which is a lot of young vibrant people.

    • @naiapr
      @naiapr  2 роки тому +5

      Hi Tellme! Unfortunately as far as I know scholarships are not as big of a thing in Europe as they are for example in North America, although that said, I know there are a few scholarships for international students which are not necessarily from the university but my best advice would be to do lots of google researches and see what you find! Maybe even your country provides a scholarship but yes, google is your best friend when it comes to this or otherwise, call the university and ask them what type of scholarships they provide!

      I think it is for sure possible, just make sure to have the right visa/documentation in advance that would allow you to work there!

      So the weed shops there (which are called coffeeshops) usually sell a gram of weed for 10 or 15 euros, depending on the strain. Hash is a little pricier I believe. But it's all good and clean weed since it is from professional businesses.

    How much would you say SSH (student housing) will cost? Maybe you are aware of it from your friends' experience?
    And thank you! Very informative video💜

      If you're renting via ssh as an international student I think the lowest rent is right under 500 euros a month. It seems to vary between like 450 and 690 euros per month depending on the housing. This includes the furniture, electricity and water. Beware though, some of the ssh accommodations are very run down, it's not uncommon to have issues with mould, noisy neighbors, appliances and plumbing that don't work and never get fixed. And you can't cancel your contract once you've moved in, you might be able to be transferred to another ssh location though, but for this you will have to pay a moving fee
