Sorry for delayed response. I thought I had written back. Thank you so much for your support. This is such an interesting craft. Im trying to learn how to felt 3d sculptures. Definitely a lot more to learn. Happy felting and thanks for watching.
Yes, that will be wonderful! I did read that it works better with hard soap bars. She me softer soaps melt too quickly. However, I have no experience with this. You may want to do a test soap first. Now those would be wonderful gifts too. Thanks for watching.
What a wonderful new craft! Every year since my retirement, I have learned at least one new craft and this will definitely be one of them for 2023. Thank you.
I just wanted to say a big thank you for putting so much effort into your tutorial. I was looking for tutorials on how to make felt soap and came across your video and absolutely loved it! I'm going to try this unique felting method this week!
Bravo Suzy! Thank you for sharing your soap felting video. As an art teacher myself, I can appreciate your passion and your patience! Here's to many more felted creations in 2024!
You have the most interesting channel, with such unique and useful ideas! I have never heard of this but it looks like so much fun! Actually practical too. Thanks!
I started felting little angels, animals and hummingbirds 4 months ago and am totally addicted… but heard mention in the UA-cam world of felted soap and had to check it out. I am so glad I went to yours first. I can’t imagine anyone being more complete in their tutorial! You did an awesome job and I can’t wait to try it for beautiful gifts. Thank you. Keep em coming. ❤👏👏
I went to my sister’s again and made acouple beautiful big yellow peonies. I then came home and felted 2 bars of soap. I’m going to decorate them tomorrow. You have inspired me.
Oh my goodness. You sound like me once I get an idea in my head. So glad you enjoy the videos and making these crafts. They really are a lot of fun. Thanks for watching.
This is a great video. First I would like to ask if you could put a link to where you got your supplies, I am sure newbies would like that, also I am looking for a new suppler. Another thing for the shower/bath is wet felting a soap pad (think of a soap dish) for holding the soap, (soap may stick to it when it dries but it comes up easy) it helps from a lot of soap dripping and being wasted. You then can use the pad to wash with as it is loaded with soap. Start out with the pad pretty big as it will keep shrinking. I am with you on it being something you just get lost in doing. Depending on what I am making, I will also have a tray and work on a project while watching a program. For the dryer you can make wool dryer balls, I made a pad to put essential oils on and toss it in the dryer with the clothes, I do not use commercial softeners or scents. There is sooooo many things you will start making, you may want to keep an "Idea" list running when something pops into your head, LOL! Thanks again for sharing and I hope your able to find the supplies link for us. Have a great day🐾
I’ll look for the supplier and post a link. Good idea about a running list of ideas. I’ve tried dryer balls but I can still need to perfect it. The ideas are endless! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and supporting my channel. Happy felting!
Thank you! I've been using shampoo and conditioner bars the last 18 months, and just felted my current shampoo bar! They already last for months - but fun to expend their life! I like your method
Ive only tried it with soap bars. I hope it works for your bars. I’d love to try and make shampoo and conditioner bars. I’ll have to add it to my list of things to do. Thanks for sharing and watching. Happy felting
This is so much fun. It is a great craft. I’m trying to learn how to make 3 d felted sculptures. Very interesting. Thanks for watching and happy felting.
@@suzyrebelo I bet everyone loved their gifts! I was looking for ways to repurpose soaps I made that didn't sell or I didn't sell because I thought they came out ugly. This is perfect. I'm going to order some wool and give it a go. Thanks again for this video!
I haven’t tried it with home made soap. However, I’ve read that home made soaps dissolve more quickly than store bought. I would test on one soap first before using your precious hand made soaps. I haven’t tested this just read some reviews on it. Happy felting.
You have an amazing video here for a me commend you!! 👏👏 Far to many people dunk their soap too frequently in water and it's so unnecessarily, just creates HEAPS of lather and reduces the soap. My only suggestions are, They're actually "notches", not "barbs" and it would be great to hear what type of needle you're using to felt your design (shape and gauge). Well done!
Oh …thanks so much. Notches , I’ve made a note on that. Thank you, I’m new to felting. The needle came as a kit, starter kit, so i didn’t notice a size. I’ll make a note of that too. I have new felting projects that I’m dying to try. Thanks for sharing and watching.
Tried to make a few bars of felted soap but my felt wrap isn't thick enough to needle felt.😮💨. Watched your video for the 3rd time and finally got the 4 layers of batting! Thanks so much.
Oh dear. How frustrating. But now you’ve got it. I try making lots of things that don’t turn out the first time. I’m usually pleasantly surprised when I try it again. Thanks for sharing and watching.
Hi there. You have to allow the felted soap to completely dry. You will feel the wool tight to the soap. Once the felted soap it dry , then you can felt designs. I made a few soaps at a time so I had plenty to work on once I got to felting design stage. Happy felting and thanks for watching.
Legally, wool comes only from sheep. However, the term is often loosely applied to describe fiber from a variety of fiber animals. Alpacas do not have wool but are said to have hair more akin to human hair. These classifications are based on science, not whim. Then there is mohair, angora, yak, buffalo-way more than you want to know😂. For the hobbyist this may be of no interest and won’t impact your felted soap making at all unless you choose wool or other fiber resistant to wet felting. Merino is a wool that reliably felts every time. However, for those who want to take this video further knowing your fiber becomes very important. Consult any of the in-depth reference books on animal fiber. Happy felting!
Hi there. I’ve read sheep’s wool works the easiest but you can felt with alpaca too. I just bought a kit from Amazon. Joyeee 36 Colors Fibre Wool Yarn Roving for Needle Felting Hand Spinning DIY Craft Material, Needle Felting Foam, Awl, Glue Stick, Finger cots, Scissors and Other Felting Supplies for DIY Wool Felting
Nossa que delícia este sabonete 🧼 gostaria muito de saber que material é esse mais como não entendo ela falar,!? Obrigada sempre pôr mostrar e diferente,!? Parece lá, que gostoso 🧼👍👏😍
Suzy it's me again.I washed my hands with one of the bars of soap I needle felted and all the needle felting rubbed off. What the heck am I doing wrong?
Oh boy. That’s disappointing. I don’t know why it’s not holding. When felting soap was it tight around the soap, so you can’t pull it away hardly … was it thick when dry so you can’t see the bar of soap … when felting design , did you pierce deep enough so the design is noticeably embedded in the soap? The only other thing I can think of is , if the design is embedded in the soap, wet the soap with warm water and gently rub the soap taking care not to move the design. Hope this helps. Sorry, this is supposed to be a fun and relaxing craft.
I had another thought. Felting needles can become dull. Perhaps test your needle on another material like scrap piece of felt or wool sock. Just felt on a dot to see if it holds. Good luck.
You are a great teacher. I hope you continue to make more videos, as they are very interesting.
Thanks so much. As long as people are interested I’ll keep them coming. Thanks for your support.

Hi! Terrific and clear video. How quickly after you felt the soap could you needle felt a design on to it? Thanks in advance!
Sorry, meaning, do you have to wait 24 hours or could you do it sooner?
