In fact I'm from Benin to married to an igbo man and I had experienced the issue spiritual husband just the way this rebecca explained to the extent I'll be physically wet but my husband didn't bully me for it or used that against me until I overcame it. The legal system needs urgent overhauling especially with reference to the laws regarding marriage/family/divorce. The patriarchal system is hurting the women. I feel sorry for this lady. She looks stressed, broken and unstable due to her experience. I wish her divine healing and the strength to move on.
She should had got legal counsel before she left the kids My sister in law (God bless her) She left my brother house when he was at work with their 3 kids But went to the police station to make a statement that she lift with the kids without the husband appeal So any time he wants to see he is welcome to do so Which help her for the custody of her children

I'm a woman and I will blame the woman 100%. The number 1 mistake was dropping off the children with the man irrespective of the stress she was going through, she has her parents around her that makes it even better. No matter how terrible her living condition was when she was still with the children no judge will give the man custody of the children in Nigeria. The worse that can happen if the man isn't comfortable with the living condition is for the man to get them a better apartment. The mere fact that she left the kids with the man was a total sale of her right of custody. The judge as a woman was not really happy with her but had no choice than being professional.
If l would recommend a psychology examination of these type of human beings, to ascertain their physiological characteristics to determine how much readiness they are bf before giving them responsibility duties for they are so irresponsible. A really tough case here. Rebecca's mental health is questionable. Domestic violence, infidelity,couple's compatibility. The claim is for custody of the children. Would have loved if Judge Funmi saw the children now...to be sure they are okay,their interest and welfare is of paramount consideration.This would have gone a long way in making an informed decision.
Spot on! I agree with you completely. Rebecca has suffered emotional and psychological trauma and it shows. One can't always describe emotional or psycholocal abuse which seems to have happened from what she described throughout the marriage - it's equally as painful as physical abuse. What she described infers that her mother-inlaw was extremely controlling which caused trauma. It's not something that is really accepted or understood in Nigeria; or Africa as a whole due to culture and tradition. Same with narcissism - we don't know if the husband was a narcissist; again not really a concept that is understood/accepted in Africa. Rebecca needs prayers, counselling and therapy to really heal. This case was a sad one.

I can’t believe the judge completely ignored the fact that she had been physically abused! ! ! And is no one seeing how the Judge is contradicting herself.. first by pounding Rebecca for leaving the kids with her husband, saying it would be better to leave them with her mom or another woman..and then later saying she was wrong for leaving them with her mom and that they should only stay with the dad or the mom. Rebecca should have full custody and deserves a man who will love only her! My prayers and love go to her and her children.
Nigerians and its court systems don't understand domestic violence / abuse and its forms. Rebecca told the judge, that she didn't trust to meet with Seun anywhere to see her children, and the judge blames her for not taking any steps to see her children, even when she said she doesn't trust him. This was a safety guide she could apply inorder not to be harmed or murdered. In our world today a cheating husband can go any length to do away with his wife just to be with another woman.
Rebecca wasn’t presenting her case well, she started telling the judge about spiritual stuff in court besides, she never made the judge know that she needs that to be addressed in court and she only said it ones so I don’t expect the judge to help her talk about it because she the judge is there to see how she can help them resolve their marital problems. The reason they came to court is just for the custody that’s all we understand here
I must commend the judge on her willingness to go that far in helping the two. She didn't just do a professional job, she also had empathy on the woman

Honestly, I’m constantly disappointed by this judges constant berating of women who have gone through domestic violence and emotional abuse. Yes a woman keeps her home but when it comes to issues with ones mother in law, it’s the man that really has to step up and handle the situation. Anything the wife does in that situation will be used against her. This judge should focus on enforcing the law rather than casting her senseless opinions. Face the facts and stop coming down on women who are clearly struggling so hard. I don’t think I can watch this show anymore, this lady is crying out for help and this is the judges best effort.

In every show of domestic violence she focuses on using it as an opportunity to lecture and undermine the women. She doesn’t focus on the law. I was fine with the final ruling but the process to get there was completely unnecessary. She doesn’t ask questions to establish the facts. She uses it as an opportunity to cast harsh judgement on the women!

I can think of at least 5 cases of domestic violence where the judge has still come down hard on the woman and let the man who committed the act of violence off lightly. So my opinion is not just based on this case but a pattern of behaviour that I see from the judge. Go on the part 1 of this video and look at the numerous people who now agree with me. I’ve held this opinion from some of the earliest episodes and my comments are also there. This is not me supporting a woman, any time a man results to being violent I will always condemn as should you, it’s only those who have something wrong in the head that don’t. And as a married woman with experience I know that once a woman is not favoured by her mother in law, it is very difficult to sustain a marriage if the man is not strong and wise. The man has moved on without a care in the world and has another woman in his home whilst legally married to this woman - I don’t see somebody who is heartbroken here. My focus wasn’t even him, my focus was on the judges inability to just enforce the law without biases!
Of course I’m definitely against domestic violence and I’ve noticed how the judge waves that part but all I can notice is Judge Asaolu has a soft spot for marriages and doesn’t like divorce which is quite glaring and that’s why most times,she gives ruling on a marriage counselor and anger management class! Because if after anger management class,he still can’t manage his anger then she takes it up and it becomes a serious offense! That’s just what I think

Taking the husband to Accra is a ploy to control Mummy's Boy of course {1st mistake}, Not apologising after her Mother in law complaint {2nd mistake} and dropping the kids off {3rd Mistake} and both of these later Mistakes pointed to her questionable attitude. The In laws are indirectly controlling the relationship due to their financial contribution, the way they did with their son. But, they realised the girl is too smart for them to withstand, hence they advised their son to pull out and he did out of fear of losing His parents backing. All in All, the Judge did a good job from my own angle.

Judge funmi, very wise ,i love ur show & judgement . This marriage should have been salvaged . Judge funmi postpartum depression could have been a factor , affected this woman in so many ways. Like the visions she was having,too much spirituality ,fasting etc. So many women have it persecutory delusion, psychosis ,schinzophrania after childbirth thinking it's spiritual,esp when they are stressed after child birth . Persecutory delusion could make the wife to become afraid of the husband if she has visions relating to her husband. These dreams are repetitive and real to them. Some are feelings of someone trying to hurt them. Some are brief ,while some cases are severe never goes away for years untill proper treatment. This lady is not a bad person needs psychological help . Be humble & Make peace with ur MIL u have seen she's powerful . Bent you .
If she needs to temporarily leave the kids to secure a job and with their grandma, I think she is good but having to drop them at their Father’s house and NOT LOOKING BACK is a no no
Working in a school setting, in today's workd, the woman wont be allowed to see those kids in school because 1. The kids are not allowed to go home alone to say that she will see the kids on the road 2. For separated parents, the children are not allowed to see the kids if the kids are not staying with her, the school will tell her to go sort out your issues then see the kids outside school to avoid stories. In my little knowledge in a school setting, that is what is obtainable. I however do not know if its obtainable in every school.
There is too much interference in the marriage from both families and outsiders. They are just like strangers, how did this man court and marry this lady. She needs to get help medically and spiritually. Then come back to prove to the court, she is stable to have full custody of the kids.

A really tough case here. Rebecca's mental health is questionable. Domestic violence, infidelity,couple's compatibility. The claim is for custody of the children. Would have loved if Judge Funmi saw the children now...to be sure they are okay,their interest and welfare is of paramount consideration.This would have gone a long way in making an informed decision.
Spot on! I agree with you completely. Rebecca has suffered emotional and psychological trauma and it shows. One can't always describe emotional or psycholocal abuse which seems to have happened from what she described throughout the marriage - it's equally as painful as physical abuse. What she described infers that her mother-inlaw was extremely controlling which caused trauma. It's not something that is really accepted or understood in Nigeria; or Africa as a whole due to culture and tradition. Same with narcissism - we don't know if the husband was a narcissist; again not really a concept that is understood/accepted in Africa. Rebecca needs prayers, counselling and therapy to really heal. This case was a sad one.

Nigerians and its court systems don't understand domestic violence / abuse and its forms. Rebecca told the judge, that she didn't trust to meet with Seun anywhere to see her children, and the judge blames her for not taking any steps to see her children, even when she said she doesn't trust him. This was a safety guide she could apply inorder not to be harmed or murdered. In our world today a cheating husband can go any length to do away with his wife just to be with another woman.

Rebecca wasn’t presenting her case well, she started telling the judge about spiritual stuff in court besides, she never made the judge know that she needs that to be addressed in court and she only said it ones so I don’t expect the judge to help her talk about it because she the judge is there to see how she can help them resolve their marital problems. The reason they came to court is just for the custody that’s all we understand here

Honestly, I’m constantly disappointed by this judges constant berating of women who have gone through domestic violence and emotional abuse. Yes a woman keeps her home but when it comes to issues with ones mother in law, it’s the man that really has to step up and handle the situation. Anything the wife does in that situation will be used against her. This judge should focus on enforcing the law rather than casting her senseless opinions. Face the facts and stop coming down on women who are clearly struggling so hard. I don’t think I can watch this show anymore, this lady is crying out for help and this is the judges best effort.

In every show of domestic violence she focuses on using it as an opportunity to lecture and undermine the women. She doesn’t focus on the law. I was fine with the final ruling but the process to get there was completely unnecessary. She doesn’t ask questions to establish the facts. She uses it as an opportunity to cast harsh judgement on the women!

@@giftnathan4072 I’m not sure if you can read properly but I said women which is plural not singular so my opinion is from watching nearly every episode of this show on UA-cam. I can think of at least 5 cases of domestic violence where the judge has still come down hard on the woman and let the man who committed the act of violence off lightly. So my opinion is not just based on this case but a pattern of behaviour that I see from the judge. Go on the part 1 of this video and look at the numerous people who now agree with me. I’ve held this opinion from some of the earliest episodes and my comments are also there. This is not me supporting a woman, any time a man results to being violent I will always condemn as should you, it’s only those who have something wrong in the head that don’t. And as a married woman with experience I know that once a woman is not favoured by her mother in law, it is very difficult to sustain a marriage if the man is not strong and wise. The man has moved on without a care in the world and has another woman in his home whilst legally married to this woman - I don’t see somebody who is heartbroken here. My focus wasn’t even him, my focus was on the judges inability to just enforce the law without biases!
Of course I’m definitely against domestic violence and I’ve noticed how the judge waves that part but all I can notice is Judge Asaolu has a soft spot for marriages and doesn’t like divorce which is quite glaring and that’s why most times,she gives ruling on a marriage counselor and anger management class! Taking the husband to Accra is a ploy to control Mummy's Boy of course {1st mistake}, Not apologising after her Mother in law complaint {2nd mistake} and dropping the kids off {3rd Mistake} and both of these later Mistakes pointed to her questionable attitude. The In laws are indirectly controlling the relationship due to their financial contribution, the way they did with their son. But, they realised the girl is too smart for them to withstand, hence they advised their son to pull out and he did out of fear of losing His parents backing. All in All, the Judge did a good job from my own angle.

So many women have it persecutory delusion, psychosis ,schinzophrania after childbirth thinking it's spiritual,esp when they are stressed after child birth .
Persecutory delusion could make the wife to become afraid of the husband if she has visions relating to her husband.
These dreams are repetitive and real to them.

Working in a school setting, in today's workd, the woman wont be allowed to see those kids in school because
1. The kids are not allowed to go home alone to say that she will see the kids on the road
2. For separated parents, the children are not allowed to see the kids if the kids are not staying with her, the school will tell her to go sort out your issues then see the kids outside school to avoid stories.
In my little knowledge in a school setting, that is what is obtainable. I however do not know if its obtainable in every school.
