Hi cat , I have done a lot of slow stitching and some of your artwork lost my mother during civid the meditation in your work kept me sane thanks again Angela hugs to Don x
I am so thrilled to have found your channel recently August 30th. So inspiring and I am learning each and every minute. So I will be binging your videos.
Hi! You're artwork is so very inspiring! I enjoy every single tutorial! ❤ I'm also a full blooded Italian! 🙂My maternal grandfather left Italy to come to Coney Island in Bklyn NY to open a tailor shop, my mom was a seamstress and my aunt created amazing crazy quilts! I was introduced to sewing at a very young age. I agree with you that hand stitching is so relaxing. Even watching you handstitch is relaxing! 😃 Thanks so much for sharing and teaching us your craft! You truly are a master of your art!🙂❤🙋♀️
Hi Kathleen! That’s a great heritage, to have a sewing background.. yes, it not only relaxes, but it connects to a stream of consciousness that is a well of creativity. Thank you so much for watching and letting us know you enjoyed it! 😘♥️
Enjoyed that - might I say, Don is a wise man with his answer! Thanks for the recommendation on Ines - amazing art! Looking forward to your fabric jewellery workshop. Thanks
Dear Caterina, thankyou for sharing so many ideas. This was such a fun video!(not that the others aren't!😉) I love the idea of preparing separate pieces wherever inspiration takes you, that you can use later on.......or not. Thankyou kindly for responding to all our questions. I have some artists to follow up and a product to investigate. I'm so grateful for all the consideration you and Don put into your presentations. They have become quite a comprehensive reference for me. Grazie💙Stay safe😘💙xx
Prego! Dear Isabell! Thank you so much! We are so glad you you enjoyed it and thank you so much for your question! Glad I introduced you to new artists! Thank you dearheart 💙💙please stay safe and well, 😘💙💙💙
Loved watching you stitch and answer questions. I’ve been rescuing vintage linens and cabinet cards for decades for some unnamed projects. At age 67 I think it’s time to get to using them! However, when I saw you tearing into that cabinet card it gave me such a start! I’m getting over myself and have vowed to start using them in my mixed media art. (After I scan them at high resolution! Lol)
I am laughing over your cabinet card comment.. Don said someone is going to be upset over that! 😉 So let me say that I only use original antique ephemera in my work.. I make Copies only for use as transfers. I understand the reluctance, but really.. there are more in the world than we can ever use right? At 68 I understand I am a big rescuer too!! Glad you will be using them in your work! And thank you so much for watching and letting us know you liked it! 😘
My comment is "I've never..." themed! -- I've never thought of sewing paper to fabric, and the idea to coat the paper with gel medium is a great tip. I've never heard of Artemisia Gentileschi nor Ines Seidel and now I'm enjoying/appreciating learning more about them. Thank you for this slow-stitch-slow-chat. And yes, I agree - plastic is indeed a scourge of the earth.
PS. It's interesting to me that Don's faves, Rockwell and Wyeth, are so very different. But I'm reading up now on Wyeth to see if I'm off base. My fave moment in this vid is when you ask Don, "And women?" 😉
Hi there! Well I am so glad to introduce you to those new artists then! Oh gosh, I have been stitching papers and cloth together for years.. hope you give it a go! And yes about plastic.. ewwww. 😘🙏🏻
Enjoyed watching your stitch....having been a hand quilter for 40yrs, I know how wonderfully meditative and mindless it is. I have a question about avocado dyes....how do you do it and how long should it take. I tried a batch of eleven pits today and the water turned brown. Disappointed. Thanks Cat!
Hello Caterina and Don, I really enjoyed this video. The only problem is I won't be able to sleep now. Thank you so much. I am learning so much from you, it's wonderful. xxxx
Lita! I am so sorry to disturb your sleep! I am so glad you are enjoying our channel. Thank you so much for watching and letting us know you enjoy it 😘♥️
There is always so many inspirations in your presentation. I have a bit of a nest...I sit at the end of my old couch surrounded by design elements. I am recovering from my second vaccine and feel out of sorts. Just being here...hearing your voice cheers my body and spirit. Imagine and live in peace.
Hi Mary Helen.. I hear the second shot is the one that is a challenge.. rest up and let your body work it’s wonders. Thank you so much dearheart, I do imagine and always try to live in peace. ♥️
I did fine on my first vaccination. I was a bit tired. The second vaccine knocked me on my butt. It is worthwhile...want to be able to see my grandchildren.
Cat, this was really interesting to watch, as well as listen to you answer questions. I'm also going to check out some of those artists you guys had mentioned. I LOVED how you hand stitched the papers onto the stained fabrics. I love old script as well as the old transferred photos. All the way around, a fantastic tutorial! Thanks as always, to you and Don for all your hard work.
Awww Lynn, thank you from both of us! Don really is camera shy, so I am really proud of him for speaking up! Glad you will be checking out the artists we like, and so happy you enjoyed the tutorial it’s always so lovely to hear from you dearheart! 💝
What video on your website on how to transfer on top off fabric? I looked at your videos but the transfers are on paper...love the text transfer , but never did this..
Hi good friend! 😘 Loved the video and your statement regarding text in (any mixed media) project! I agree...”it’s a visual feast...a mystery for the soul to unravel.” I wrote that down to have before my eyes. Thank you! Now I need your recommendation for a pair of really sharp embroidery scissors...mine is dull and frustrating !!🥵 I looked on Amazon and there must hundreds !! 🥵So, I’m in no hurry, but if you'd care to find a small one that you think is sharp at the point, and put it in your Amazon list, I’d buy that one. If u don't have time...that's ok. (Btw, I HAD to use a $10 off coupon today at the grocery store, so I did not get to try out my new woodies...but I will and let u know in FB.) Chat later. Love to you and Don. 😘🌿🌸🍃 ,
Hi dearheart! We are delighted that you enjoyed the video.. ❤️ and that line has been quoted back to me a couple of times.. I truly feel that creativity moves through the soul.. I will look for a very sharp pair.. I bought the cute bird scissors and they are NOT sharp! So will keep looking and will definitely let you know😉 Don and I send you love back!! 😘♥️🍃🌿💝

@@CaterinaGiglio Hi Cat... thanks for getting back to me so quickly. The transfer video that I am looking for is "transfering images onto fabric."
@@luharris-burr9913 I have not made a transfer on fabric video. It is the very same technique as a transfer on paper, but leave it to dry overnight.
Love the Wyeths and their museum is not far from my house. I would one day love to volunteer at their museum when I retire.
I have been to a Wyeth museum in Maine a long time ago. Couldn’t tell you what town it was in. Seems to me it was out in the country.
Thank you, Kim for watching! 😘

Can you recommend a spray sealer that works on pieces that contain both fabric and paper? Thank you .
