Welcome back to Japan everybody :) hope you enjoy this episode of us exploring the oldest hotel in the world :) The E-Sim we use: ref.airalo.com/gXgZ Where we stayed: bit.ly/3VcWTVN
We love watching you and seeing your family grow. We're planning a trip to Japan and want to visit Nishiyama Onsen from Shinjuku. Did you pickup the car from Shin-Fuji station or elsewhere?
I think you are experiencing Japan better than I ever have as a Japanese person. I am glad that your beautiful and lovely family chose Japan as their travel destination. I hope you will have many wonderful memories in Japan.
Hunter has the palate of an adult! She is such a beautiful, curious and agreeable little girl, this is all to you both! What an amazing unique opportunity to share with your parents! ~Cara 💖
Oh my, I was either smiling because of all the cuteness, or tearing up because of the beautiful sights. I so want to visit Japan and Mt. Fuji. Thanks for another lovely video.
I felt so happy for Jess' mom! I still remember when you gave her the trip as present to go to any place in the world and she immediately responded she wanted to go to Japan and then covid hit but now she's finally there
I absolutely love Hunter's enthusiasm for all the food, from the street food to this. It's delightful and so refreshing to see - children are curious and can enjoy anything. 🙂
What a REMARKABLE place to stay! Not just due to the fact that it's the oldest known hotel in existence but that they've made sure it has all the comforts and luxuries that guests from around the world can appreciate (which may be why it has lasted SO long)! Just think that just six years after this hotel opened (in 705 AD) in the mountains to have guests soak in the hot springs, on the other side of the world, the Moors invaded and conquered the Iberian peninsula! I doubt the Iberians or Moors could have imagined that Japan existed (or vice versa) much less that there it had a special retreat even back then! It looks as though it was a fantastic treat for you all and thanks for treating us to it!
Hunter just gets sweeter and sweeter with every video..singing in the car, trying the food at the hotel, jumping on the bed and saying "sleep over", "night night". she is the most adorable child on you tubes🤗.
Hunter is the perfect child! She’s honestly so cute ❤ Loved this video and have added this hotel to our endless bucket list! The food looked fantastic, too!
One of my best friends and I just booked a 4-week trip to Japan in late February/March and watching you guys' vlogs is getting me SO excited!!! Can't believe I'm actually going there too, I've always wanted to visit Japan🙈
Oh!!! What a dream to meet That Family! I dearly love Japan and it is near to my heart, but I would say probably meeting that family would be up near the top. You guys are great, thanks for always bringing smiles and laughter to us all. You all look stunning too in your robes and Mum's excitement is precious! This was healing for me~ sending love from the US.
Thank you for coming to Japan. I'm enjoying your Japan vlog so much :) I could see you had a formal and traditional Japanese-style dinner called “Kaiseki”. I did my best to read the menu. Here is what you had for dinner. I hope it's not too late. October Menu 神無月の宴 御献 Aperitif(食前酒): Karin(Chinese quince) sake(かりん酒) Pre-Appetizer(先付け): Sesame seed tofu(胡麻豆腐) Appetizer(前菜): Grilled daikoku shimeji mushroom(大黒しめじ素焼き), Chestnut with cocoa(栗ココア), Propagule boiled in soy sauce(むかご田舎煮), Garland chrysanthemum and shellfish with edible chrysanthemum(春菊と煮貝の菊花和え), Maitake mushroom and Hiratake mushroom with radish sauce (原木舞茸と平茸の鬼おろし掛け) Soup(吸い物): Clear soup with Matsutake mushroom (松茸すまし仕立て) Sashimi(造り): Red trout sashimi(茜鱒重ね造り), Oncorhynchus masou ishikawae(五月鱒), Tofu skin(身延湯葉) Simmered dish(温物): Stewed tomatoes and beef tendons(トマト釜牛すじ射込) Shinogi(しのぎ): Acorn noodles(どんぐり麺) Grilled dish(焼き物): Grilled cherry salmon(山女魚の塩焼き) Special dish(名物): Koshu wagu stake on lava plate(甲州牛溶岩焼き), Koshu wagu beef A5(特選甲州黒毛和牛A5), Vegetables(付け野菜), Ponzu sauce(ポン酢), Citrus chili paste(柚子胡椒), Salt(塩), Pepper(胡椒) Soup(止め椀): Clear soup with hoto noodles, Ami mushroom, and chive (素出し汁 宝刀 あみ茸 浅葱)* Hoto noodles is local food in Yamanashi. Japan seems amazing. I'm from Perth and I have lived in Western Australia my whole life. I'm about an hour from where you both grew up together. You both inspire me. I've been working almost always full-time the last couple years and saving away for travel. Japan being my number one. I would love to see a Japan Flying The Nest expedition for 2 weeks in 2024 as I'd absolutely join.
This was such a soothing video to watch, thank you! Almost felt meditative at points. You all looked so beautiful in the traditional Japanese wear! :) And its so heartening to see Hunter learn so much so quick. At one point Jess told her to open her mouth wide when feeding her something. And then a few minutes later Hunter repeated the same to Jess :P So cute! Best of luck for the Finland adventures! :) Edit: Also just got reminded of the podcast episode where Japan lost out to Turkey as you guys' fav country in a match of rock, paper, scissors :)) That was one exhilarating episode. At some point please do a similar thing with Hunter wherein you ask her about all the countries she's visited till now (say when she's at 10-12 countries or so) and ask her to pick her favourite :D
This is so fabulous. What an incredible hotel that is. So much history and natural beauty. Definitely worth a drive into the mountains! And can I just say how well behaved Hunter is everywhere you guys go. She really is such a little globetrotter. Up to do anything, ready to try any food, always happy and excited to the adventures in front of her. You guys are doing such a marvelous job with her. I'm so proud of her and she's not even mine! 🥰
Loved this! Thank you for showing off Japan! We live here in Japan and just had our parents come visit from Australia - this video made us feel like we were reliving our travels with them again. Love all the family vibes and how much Hunter was enjoying the food and onsen!
My dad is a chef and is who I inhertited the travel bug from. He used to test out the food and tell us what his guess was when we travelled as kids. That little clip with Jess' dad gave me such nostalgia! P.S. He's also a David!
Jpn is one of expensive country in the world after Switzerland but Jpn offers the best quality service and one of the best country in the world. The food is delicious, accessible, and flexible! I love Jpn.
A new Japanese Perspective view through your family adventures. Hunter cracks me up everytime. So, thank you for history and landscape views (amazinghotel). Wonderful 👍 Vlog!💖⛩🚄🎏🧧💖
Your parents look to be in grandparent heaven getting to spend so much time on such a special trip with Hunter! And as a viewer from the USA, hearing Hunter’s Australian accent is so cute. It’s fun hearing her talk so much!

Putting only your feet in a hot spring has a special name. It is called "Ashiyu" (footbath).

Please come again.🍣👘🇯🇵✨
That’s sooo cool how it’s just a flame and a stone you cook your food on !!!
Love the Japan Vlogs!!!
Half train ride and half car ride to hotel. Hunter looked cute wearing the red shoes. I instantly thought of Glinda The Good Witch From Wizard Of Oz. Dinner looked interesting and yummy. Winner was ice cream. Beds brought back memories. Absolutely love the hot springs. Had plans on going to Mt Fuji and the amusement park built on the side. The Roykan I had reservations with was so bad, I left and went back to Osaka. Yummy on a stick. Outstanding from start to finish.
I’m literally copying this trip in Aussie winter unreal
Japan is so beautiful!
Great video!! I'm glad you explained the train ticket part, it seems overwhelming to get around in Japan lol. What did you find challenging about getting around in Japan? I plan to go solo in April if I can find a good deal
