They might all sound ridiculous, but they’re all completely true. Pack Hunter takes a fantastic exotic that affects a leading power weapon class and removes any and all competition in the matter. After weeks and weeks of testing the perk’s effects, I can comfortably support all of these statements, and in this video, we’ll explore just how and why Pack Hunter makes Gjallarhorn the most broken exotic this game has ever seen, full stop.

if they do that, they would either buff gjallarhorn directly or buff pack hunter to compensate, bungie can't afford making the most iconic, well known, beloved and overused exotic die down, it is the same thing as cod making a bad intervention, counter strike making the AK unusable, god of war making the blades of chaos shitty

Bungie needs to disable 3rd party applications… ONLY the PC community would be upset if anything, who cares? You can’t use macro’s? You can’t determine dps numbers? Oh you actually missed rockets? Welcome to normal destiny… I really believe these speed runners and streamers and content creators on PC abuse these 3rd party extensions and that’s why they seem so good. I’m usually tops dps, until I see someone doing suspicious things and then it’s like alright lol this isn’t talked about because THEY ALL PLAY PC AND ABUSE IT, but something needs to be done, like scanning everyone’s game at log in to make sure there’s no 3rd party extensions.

I very much enjoy how the most powerful and valued weapons in the game are not dps monsters, but are support weapons.
Le horn is also a support exotic done right, imo: it's powerful enough that on its own it's a very solid option even without using the support function for teammates' rockets. The Navigator does a great job, imo, of following in that legacy with a support function, a "fun/utility" function, and passable damage (trace rifles aren't anything special for DPS, but they are versatile with a good max range and being very easy to aim up close as well). Seeing how guns/things in this game evolve really helps to appreciate why people came to love the game, and I love videos like this that, while still being clickbait-y, are filled with enthusiasm and encourage us to really think about the game instead of just react (which has clearly led to a not-so-great atmosphere in recent times).

I have a question: Assuming Gally as the heavy slot weapon, what would the other 2 weapons look like (now that double special is allegedly fixed, again) and on what class + class exotic. Along the lines of the ultimate support guardian. Sorry if it was already mentioned and I didn't pay attention.
A good start is Heritage/Succession + Forbearance until damage, then double slug or something similar
In a damage scenario, double special remains unchanged.

Always knew gally was dummy strong but I never expected it to be so strong that a blue rocket with manual reloads and no damage rotation to out dps literally every other non rocket legendary/exotic weapon 😂

giving rockets bait and switch was such a mistake. Literally powercreeping every single prior rocket launcher now and making us so OP, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next raid is beaten very fast since we’re so powerful at the moment or if rockets are soon to be on the cutting board for a nerf. 😂

As he demonstrated though, even a blue rocket with no special damage perks beats all other DPS options in the game. Bait and Switch is not behind that difference - rockets are just silly strong, with or without bait and switch

17 is damage loss 15 is 3 explosions

@keenangan6047 if you get a tracking bait and switch one use that instead. It's a long enough phase you'll still get 10 rockets off. For bonus points use izzy if someone else can do Arby.
I feel like bipod could be decent with cluster bomb on the Breytech nightfall rocket, hopefully it’s viable cause it looks fun

yo quick question about the boss damage spreadsheet, since thread of ascent alone will max out the handling stat on duality, apex predator and heritage what is the point of using ophidians since they dont provide a animation duration multiplier so would necrotics be better in this situation, purely for poison and unravel dmg?
also, does the element of the wolfpacks change depending on the element of the rocket fired? or are they always solar as gally is
Like I've said in the past, you can have one person on Necrotics and the rest on Ophids since the exotic at that point doesn't really matter

Christ I knew rockets were good from all the super fast bakes I've seen posted, but that point about optimal stacking killing raid bosses 4 times over before any other "meta" option really highlights just how busted they are. Would not be surprised at all if Pack Hunter and/or rockets as a whole gets adjusted soon, that's just insane

Because the pack hunter buff is so long would it be recommended to do a damage rotation alongside occasionally shooting Gjally or would it be not worth it?
Yeah it's a good idea to extend your rotation using special weapons, if you want more info I have plenty of videos covering Gjally rotations and strategies
in the first place in the table is a warlock. the video about the DPS kill of the boss of the second stage of the KF do you use such lodaut?
The top DPS rotation is on hunter so no, we use warlocks because we are forced to during speedruns (from previous encounters)

Is it possible that the above expected damage (chunking) that the Wolfpack boosted rockets are doing is a frame rate thing, thus reducing the potency of the gjallarhorn on console?
We did some brief FPS testing and even on 30FPS you do the same damage to the healthbar :P

That's actually not my clip - that's my teammate Crew, and he was talking about how his Stormchaser shots on Caretaker final stand started hitting immunes randomly. Some of the people in the VC asked if he stepped off plate by accident or something, so that was his response.

I would've loved in the conclusion section/cup-bearer DPS chart screamer that you warn people that rockets can be worse to use in specific situations.
For example, a situation where you need a lot of total damage (both Caretaker or Oryx in contest mode) with a long DPS phase will make Cataclysmic/Briars worth to use over Rocket due to TOTAL Damage done to the boss, this is a very important information to share with the upcoming new Raid and it's contest mode!
However when that raid will go back to normal with Contest mode closed, of course Rockets will dominate back again.
Nah this isn't really true, because of this chunking rockets are more appropriate pretty much always, including in total damage scenarios (which I briefly mention in this video)

I don't think you are understanding what I am saying - thanks to perks like Bait and Switch, you are going to run out of ammo after having dealt the same amount to the boss' healthbar compared to linears, you will just finish dumping earlier
What about Eyes of Tomorrow when comparing add clear capabilities? I have to imagine that the ammo refund greatly helps with the ammo economy in comparison against Gjallarhorn
too many ways to generate heavy ammo to care about intrinsic heavy ammo refund with worse ad clear

Is it worth running rockets/gally on something like 2nd enc spire boss which moves away and prob doesnt get hit by many wolfpacks over something like levis or whisper ?

What are the best pellet shotguns for dps? I noticed you were using wastelander on taniks. Also, when should pellet shotguns be used over slugs/fusions or other weapons?
That's not my clip - I use Riiswalker / Without Remorse when I pellet swap. Pellets are good when a boss has a large hitbox and a possibly long-distance/annoying crit (Taniks, Oryx).

Rockets kinda are a everyone use or bust tho in a sense. Because you need a gally and the more people that use rockets the more effective the gally is. Total damage is worse, but as you pointed out if everyone is doing there part and you assume they don’t miss, total damage is irrelevant because the dps is good enough to melt everything. I feel like linears are solely for the uncoordinated team or average lfg raid.

Techeuns like Kali and Shuro have a very high Crit multiplier which makes precision weapons extremely strong on them. For ex. the fastest way to cook Kali are 6 Hunters with Kinetic Surge Nighthawk Golden Gun and Izanagis

They do (surges affect wolfpacks, but the rounds do the damage of whatever rocket that fired them, so not arc on Gjally but solar)
gjally scales better in larger fireteams since there's obviously more people for pack hunter to affect, but how does it scale to something like a 2 man dungeon run? does it absolutely destroy every other option even then?

Pack hunter wouldn’t be the most broken thing in the game if they allowed other weapon archetypes to stack as well as rockets do and get a support exotic like gjally. Since pack hunter is a weapon buff but from another weapon, it can stack with the other weapon buffs like BnS and lead to insane damage since you have 3 weapon perks active at the same time with one being 80% damage bonus with insane add clear and major clearing damage. Rockets are the only archetype that gets buffed this way, and as long as they are the only ones they will stay on top unless they nerf either rockets, patch hunter, or both to the point of redundancy.
Yeah it's insane rockets get this special treatment but I suppose Gjally's D1 legacy has to live on somehow
3rd chest isn't spawning even though we didn't go back to the orbit or do checkpoints.
Rockets are better because we have buff stack power creeped. We are making 1 rocket shot do the damage of 3 compared so it effectively increases your total damage to be higher than the bosses health. So insted of being capped at 9-10 rockets in reserves with buffed we effectively have 27-30. If we go pack to the rocket perks we had just 1-2 years ago we couldn’t do nearly the damage. A 35% dmg buff for swapping weapons with a weapon type that encourages swapping. It’s literally just free damage. Rockets should be good for burst dmg not capable of killing every raid boss in seconds.

I personally feel like rockets as the dps meta is very healthy for the game. Yes they are strong but they also have several major weaknesses Such as limited ammo economy, easiness of self harm, and requiring coordination for maximum damage. I really like how they effect the dps meta, especially since the other heavy weapons still have other uses in the game. They are strong without invalidating every one else.
They do kind of invalidate other options but I do like them conceptually as a high risk high reward explosive top pick

I have actually never heard anyone call rockets boring for dps. I in fact will never tire of rockets for dps, meanwhile machine guns and linears bore me the moment I even start using them.
Rotations only make rockets more fun because there is such a high skill cap that can go with the great baseline.
I find rockets fun too, some people don't though haha
I also happen to enjoy large amounts of numbers on my screen and a boss health bar that rapidly decreases

Still just as viable 100%, the only place this nerf comes into play is solo content where ammo manip + drop chance matters more
