I was skeptical as well... picked one up in the early fall, and around ND and western Minnesota we always have wind. I couldn't believe the consistency throwing baits that hang in the wind directly into 20-30mph gusts. The consistency in wind alone was worth it for me!
I had a curado DC and no matter how I adjusted it didn’t have confidence skipping but I just got a 2017 daiwa tatula sv tw it’s the first time I’ve confidently skipped and I feel like such a better fisherman
Awesome! I have the Scorpion DC 17 and will give skipping a shot this year, something I have been wanting to try for a while (my 2021 goal is to catch one on a skipped lure). Thanks for all the great information!
Agreed! I have the 7/4 and 2 6/2’s for cranking. You can throw it over your head with a crank bait and never thumb it , NO Backlash. They are stupid proof I say!
I’ve had the reel for about 5 months now and me personally I like the feel of the bigger reel, I just feel like it fits my hand better and gives me a better grip
My advice is for people to stop thinking these are for new anglers. A new angler if set up is proper can use a baitcaster, you might not get the distance but when new people spend almost 300 on a reel they expect it to magically transform them into KVD. You being an experienced casting enthusiast can really appreciate what this reel can do. I loved my old metanium dc. It didn't make that noise but it was pretty good. I only had it for a little while before I relapsed and we all know what happens after that. I've got 5 years in recovery 3 consecutive years this month with no drugs or alcohol. This was my present to myself. I saved up so long for this reel.

Great video!! I was really watching your casting motion so i can learn. I guess i need baby steps 1st. Im new to baitcasting reels and bought my 1st reel, the curado dc. So im learning. Ive got the side roll cast working pretty good. Next i have to learn the over head cast. 1) I was wondering if u had any basic videos that teach the motion etc of casting the baitcasting reel overhead, side arm? 2) i set up my reel just like the instruction manual said but i still get some loose line on my spool so i thumb the cast all the way until it hits water to prevent problems. Recently i tighted the spool tension knob a 1/4 of a turn more. Can u advise me on your setting of the tension knob. Starting with the tension knob where it just stops the spool from moving side to side, how much farther did u tighten the knob so u can cast side arm or overhead cast? 3)When u set the tension knob to appropriate tightness, can u really cast the reel without thumbing the spool until just before it hits the water? Thank you for your info and videos!
I'll leave a video below that may give you some tips on casting. As far as the tension knob goes maybe a click or 2 after the knock was gone, but even just till the knock is gone you should be able to cast fine and shouldn't have to thumb the spool much at all. ua-cam.com/video/8sGGnmhEpPE/v-deo.html
