- From the moment my brother was murdered I couldn't stop thinking of what he felt like as he took his last breath, What was going through his head and what did he feel. Was he at peace? Was he scared? As those thoughts continue to go through my head, it painted a mental picture of what it looked like. These three videos are my perception of my brothers last day on earth.
In the Ignorance video, I am trying to portray how even people who get caught up in a life of gangs / violence are still “normal” people. Some are fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, & daughters. But sometimes the ignorance of wanting to be loved, be accepted, and feel like you are apart of something can cause you to abandon the things/people who really matter.
In the Missiles video, the visual explains retaliation for either losing someone or fear for your own life. In the midst of anger and clouded judgement one may attempt to take another’s life. I named the song Missiles because that's the next level of a bullet that can kill a mass of people all at once. The black on black gun violence that plagues the urban communities is heavy and that pointless murders with no resolution are known all too well. I wanted a visual representation of what that looks like.
The core moment of the Ignorance EP and the record dearest to my heart “Ormoni” was inspired by my little brother being slain at a vigil for his friend that was murdered a week prior. It’s brutally honest visually and audibly as I convey my frustration and anger as I grief the death of my baby brother. The video is powerful, innovative and most importantly, raw. At the end of that day my little brother is gone, and this EP was made to make sure his name lives on forever.
Why is music like this not more popular? I’m so happy real hip hop still exists.
