Not enough pockets needs double the amount.
can you avoid the shape the bag makes by arranging your gear better and then using the compression straps to hold said gear in place?
Unfortunately not much - the interior pockets make the base wider to start with so it tends to have the pear shape no matter how you pack it.

Did you have any problem with rain ( bc the zippers are not covered)? Also is the laptop compartment being sideways annoying? Im trying to decide between this and osprey nebula since I carry a 17 inch laptop.
To your first question: none. I've had this bad in some strong rains and it's done an excellent job of keeping all the water out. Also, the sideways laptop pocket I find very convenient, particularly in airport security lines.
At first I thought the reviewer was just being a bit of a snob, but he’s right!
The additional laptop compartment and folder dividers makes fitting a lunch box a bit of a squeeze.
My “Fulton bag co” lunch box from target DOES fit, but may want to clip to exterior or hope my new lunch bag is slimmer.
Not a big deal; I bought the bag for the multiple water bottle pockets, with straps. No more losing my bottle when throwing my bag over my shoulder, or carrying multiple beverages, lunch box, AND laptop/briefcase at once!
Also love the easy access half-zip laptop compartment. Careful not to zip it all the way!, or you won’t be able to open it while slung over your right shoulder. (Perhaps they should’ve had it unzip from the bottom ;) )

That’s so odd when you compare the L x W x H of each bag.
I’m needing the bigger one, of course can’t see before buying.
Off hand I don't recall exactly but the difference in internal space can be from all the internal pockets cutting into the interior storage space.

Where on the backpack does it say the model #? Mine seems to show a 9867 on a very small tag in the middle compartment. I need this back again, but I can't seem to find anywhere. Tia!

It is water resistant enough to handle moderate rain for moderate amount of times when you're walking outside but not waterproof.
Which one do you recommend, the Swissgear or North face? I want one for work and travel.
Both are good options, but different designs.

It depends how much you stuff the other pockets but generally speaking, it should fit.

there should be a disclaimer: warning, you may lose your stuff within the bagpack itself… jk but srsly, if you lose your usb drive you now have to look through every single damn pocket. so it’s not for everyone. if you’re disorganized don’t get this bag
I have had the swiss gear 1900 since 2016 my question is who paid you to lie about this amazing backpack and as a Veteran it is my go to backpack for any situation.
In my opinion the Swiss gear 1900backpack is the best damn backpack out there! I am on my fifth one. The other 3 I gave away for gifts to my family to this day,my family loves them I have one for work and one for my personal! obviously this gentleman has his opinion. I don’t agree with it but I do with you my friend. Thank you for your service. God bless.
I've been using a swiss backpack for 17 years now but it has kind of gotten worn out. I just picked this one up yesterday and I'm really hoping it holds up as well.

too much travel video, too much about other backpacks, too much time spend just showing static view of the backpack, video jumps to different views too quickly to see what's being shown, no view into the bottom of compartments to see the actual width and depth,. - e.g. other videos show the depth of the side pockets.
